Don't bother with a warranty!!!!!

My husband purchased a vehicle from Nuneaton Cars and took out a warranty with their recommended provider. Within the first few months, the clutch began slipping—a serious issue we reported immediately. Unfortunately, our experience since then has been nothing short of appalling.

Hostile Customer Service:
From the outset, the warranty team responded with hostility and dismissiveness. We were told to find an independent garage that would accept warranty work. After visiting several garages, all refused to proceed under the warranty terms. We relayed this back, and were then advised to try Halfords.

Garage Refusals and Delays:
Halfords confirmed they do warranty work but couldn’t help due to the car’s design—it would require removing the gearbox, which they weren’t equipped to do. After months of searching, we finally found a garage that performed a diagnostic test confirming the clutch fault. We submitted this to the warranty team, only to have the claim rejected outright.

Poor Planning and Broken Promises:
After extensive back-and-forth, we were given multiple repair dates—each one cancelled or rescheduled due to poor internal planning. Eventually, my husband managed to drive the car (with a slipping clutch) back to Nuneaton Cars, only to be told the required part was now on “worldwide back order.”

Warranty Dispute:
Now, the warranty provider claims the flywheel isn’t covered. However:

We were never informed of any updated terms.

We never signed or acknowledged a revised warranty.

We have written confirmation from them stating the repair would be covered.

We have had the car less than two years and has done under 5,000 miles—well within the limits of reasonable warranty coverage. Their refusal to honour the warranty is not only unethical but potentially unlawful.

Next Steps:
We will be escalating this matter to:

The Motor Ombudsman for dispute resolution

Trading Standards for breach of consumer rights

Financial Ombudsman Service if applicable

We are also preparing to leave detailed reviews across public platforms to warn other consumers. This company’s conduct has been disgraceful—misleading, evasive, and unprofessional.

We wish to address the allegations made regarding the warranty claim process.

Warranty Provider
It is important to clarify that Lawdata is not the warranty provider. Our role is purely administrative in managing claims. The warranty provider in this matter is the vehicle supplier, Nuneaton Car Sales, who under the terms of the agreement elected to carry out the repair in-house.

Repairs and Terms
The repair arrangements and the scope of cover are determined by the warranty provider under the terms of the warranty supplied at the point of sale. Lawdata has no authority to override or amend those terms.

Defamatory Content
The review published contains statements that are misleading and defamatory in nature. Such comments, which imply dishonesty and unethical conduct, are inaccurate and damaging to our professional reputation. We respectfully request that these comments be withdrawn or amended to reflect the facts outlined above.

Ongoing Resolution
Lawdata remains committed to fair and transparent administration of warranty claims and we encourage the customer to engage directly with Nuneaton Car Sales, the actual warranty provider, to reach an appropriate resolution.

Disappointed and Frustrated

Disappointed and Frustrated

I cancelled their services, yet they continued to chase invoices for months when I wasn’t even using them. David himself acknowledged that he hadn’t seen the email confirming everything was sorted. Now, three months later, I’ve received another email stating I need to settle my account for the past five months? This makes no sense — I haven’t been using their services, and I have written confirmation showing everything had been wrapped up, with no dispute at the time.

To make matters worse, when it came time to take a client to court, they were completely absent. I had to hire a real legal team and get them to simply send everything over to my barrister. So just be aware — when it really counts, you’re likely to be on your own with these guys.

Slow, but got there in the end

Initial phone call answered quickly and info communicated to start the claim. I had to get the repairs done and paid for myself due to the time it took to authorise. However the money paid (discounted parts price but i guess that's the North/south divide in costs) the majority of the money was put in my account. quicker authorisation would have been 5 stars.

Misleading and false advertisement for…

Misleading and false advertisement for warranty.
Appalled that we were offered this service, trusted and now let down with no customer service to try and come to a conclusion.
Update: thanks for replying below but still hasn't been resolved and now rejected for another claim!

There has been no misleading advertisement of the warranty whether as alleged or at all. We have explained that the warranty covers items in respect of mechanical failure, defined as the actual breaking or burning out of the part. It does not cover deterioration due to age and mileage.

Proper scumbags.

Proper scumbags.

Avoid them at all costs. The warranty you have paid for basically does not exist.

See their response below:

Maybe if would have answered any of my hundreds of emails or phone calls you’d have been able to identify me as a warranty holder. Crooks.

We note your recent review and must correct several inaccuracies contained within it.

At no point did we provide you with a warranty. Our role is strictly limited to that of an administrator, acting on behalf of the warranty provider. We are not the issuer, underwriter, or seller of any warranty product.

Your assertion that the warranty “does not exist” and the characterisation of our business as “crooks” are both factually incorrect and potentially defamatory. These statements misrepresent our role and may cause unjustified harm to our reputation.

We take all customer communications seriously and maintain records of correspondence. If you believe your concerns have not been addressed, we invite you to provide specific details so that we can review the matter appropriately.

In the meantime, we request that you amend or remove the review to reflect the accurate position.

Probably the first positive review for Lawdata, I dealt with a chap called Jon H, a very good honest man and very helpful in the situation I was in with a certain car dealer. Not the result I wanted but I managed to end the nightmare, thank you Jon H.

When I bought my Mercedes E class I was sold a warranty from Phantom motor company this warranty was added to the finance which I pay interest on
The first time I made a claim It was a nightmare trying to get in touch with them on phone or E mail I got no reply at all for weeks .
This is the second time without a car due to there lack of response they are a absolute rip off and the stress and anxiety trying to get around without a car and this is such a simple fix
My next step is to take legal action and I encourage anyone in the situation to put a review on here and do the same
I would never treat a customer in this way

An absolute scam company

An absolute scam company, who are not regulated for the warranty service by any governing body, financial or otherwise, They maybe good at the legal side for the motor trade but they're also good for the dealers who issue these warranties that aren't worth the paper they're written on! Firstly, check the maximum payout offered. Chances are it wouldn't cover the repairs. Secondly, they have a set hourly labour rate. How many garages can afford to operate on a rate of £45 an hour? Thirdly, their jargon in the terms and conditions give them so many get out clauses and show that their customer base is definitely the dealers and not the individual car buyers who fork out the premium in all good faith, only to be hugely out of pocket and feeling totally humiliated and ripped off. Oh and, surprisingly, they are not regulated by any governing body! Thanks to you all!!

Save your money

Save your money! they are hard to get hold of, don't know what they're on about, and forget emailing them! i chased these guys around for weeks trying to get my car sorted! no garage around my area would touch them with a barge pole! I took out extended warranty with lawdata and wish i hadn't bothered! i had 3 issues with my car after only owning it 17 months. The bill was coming in at £2000 all in. Lawdata wouldn't pay as i didn't get my car serviced within the timescale! now, regardless of whether i had or not, the issues with my car had zero to do with when my car was serviced. They might of got out of paying this, but they've also lost someone who would ever use their services again, and I'll be sure to let anyone else i know to steer clear. I wish i had seen the reviews before wasting £50pm on them

Scam lawyers

Scam lawyers, only interested in taking money from the biggest con artists in the retail industry. falsely advising there clients with out full facts. Very unprofessional outfit and would argue that there use of the law is more a scare tactic than an actual belief in achieving a legal outcome.
