I ordered my Legacybox on 12/15/2025 to receive by Christmas. It's 12/31/2025 and I have not received my Legacybox. I've contacted Legacybox 4 times (4 phone calls) to resolve the issue and found out that my Legacybox has never shipped. Legacybox acknowledges the problem and promises to remedy the situation. However, after multiple revised shipping dates, I had to contact my credit card company to cancel the Legacybox charge. I never received the Legacybox product; I experienced poor customer service with no apology for the challenges created by the company (and lack of follow-up). If I could give less than 1 star, I would.

I did business with this company in 2022, and paid in full for the service. I have since had to cancel an annual fee every year for services I don't use. I have emailed them repeatedly to cancel and they always tell me I did it wrong, really! I received a confirmation of cancellation, and was billed again. Tired of disputing as they push it through my credit card even after replaced. Now I will block them.

Legacy Box doesn’t live up to the hype it builds in marketing. Digitized quality is spotty, especially for videos. I had a priceless family reunion tape (many family members now passed) that was returned with subpar sound and garbled picture! While some tapes were digitized well, others were grainy or blurred. Not acceptable! I spent considerable time and effort in tagging videos and photos in sequence and when returned the sequencing was not maintained as I had been promised by a customer service agent. One tape was digitized twice. Where was the quality control?? I would NEVER use LegacyBox again! Now I’m researching which digitizing company can clean up their mess.

This company does not do quality work. A number of tapes and cassettes I submitted were not completely transferred leaving some precious memories behind. The customer service was atrocious. Be VERY wary of using this company.

Ordered a box on Dec 5th and paid for expedited processing to have in time for Christmas. They lost the box before they even sent to me - or just never sent. They never answered which case it was. Only that they couldn't have it in time for Christmas and only offered to refund the rush fee and do nothing else. Could not explain their policy for what happened if they lost the box after I put my media in it. Cancelled the order - if I can't trust these folks to handle an empty box, no way am I entrusting them to my irreplaceable media.
*edit to include response to their response. There were no issues with the address. This is a residence and I even used the suggested post mailing address to avoid this kind of confusion that no other merchant has ever had in 22 years of deliveries at this address. Their weak response below was 2 weeks after the fact. STAY AWAY. If you want your memories digitized, use someone local you can trust and physically hand your media to.

The digitized copies that I received were nowhere near as good as the original tapes that I sent them played on a VCR and through the video camera. There was static on on the files they sent that were not on the VCR at all. Now I'm trying to cancel my cloud subscription but the whole process has been very frustrating. I've tried over and over again but cannot get it done and their customer support is nonexistent. I am really upset and I'm going to have to spend the money all over again to have them converted somewhere else. The least they can do is cancel my cloud subscription because they make it so difficult online. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

Over the years, I have thought often about converting our old home movies. Recently, I paid for expedited digitizing with Legacybox. When my movies were uploaded to the cloud, I was confused. I hadn't watched them in decades, but I didn't recall all of our heads being chopped off. After back and forth emails, I was told I needed to ship all the films back to have them reprocessed. I was told mine would be given priority. I had to email after a couple of weeks to inquire where the reprocessed films were. Despite paying for expedited, I was never made whole for their blunder. I asked to speak to a rep, but was just ignored. Really disappointed in the service. Seemed rushed and not what they promise.

Legacy box cyber Monday/black Friday sale is a scam. You can NOT transfer tapes/reels for $8 per item to anything but cloud or hard drive. To transfer to thumb drive or CD it's an additional $40 plus S&H. Very misleading.

Reply from Legacybox
The result of my transfers is very good. However, in the ordering process, Legacy Box inserts a "FREE" one month subscription to their cloud storage that AUTOMATICALLY RENEWS unless you call and cancel it. This is a deceptive business practice that most people are likely to miss, resulting in charges to their credit card that were not expressly agreed to.

The order expired. They want an addition price, equal to the amount originally paid to honor the service. I'm not paying twice to receive service that has poor reviews and I already paid for. There was no warning that it would expire. It's in teeny, tiny print.

I entrusted two 8mm movie reels to this company and they lost them!! I would never recommend Legacy Box after my experience. Interestingly- they claim to have received the 2 VHS tapes I sent them but not the 2 8mm reels- they were all in the same box! How does that even happen? This company does not carry insurance to cover losses either! You’re just SOL with a very lukewarm apology accompanied by statements placing the blame on you. Don’t give them your precious memories or your money. Learn by my mistake.

Always saying I owe more money. Or that I miss counted the tapes. Poor quality on the return.
Do not use this company.
Always a bad sign when they make you pay total upfront, then hold your tapes hostage until you pay more.

Before placing my order, I emailed Legacybox to clarify exactly how much it would cost to digitize one audio cassette tape. After several confusing emails, a representative named Fernando finally wrote: “The link I sent you will take you to a sale where you only pay for shipping for us to send a box ($14.99). After your order you will get a bill for $14.99 before tax for that additional item.” This means that the total cost for one audio cassette tape would be $30.
I paid 14.99 for the box then I mailed my tape immediately after receiving their box, but once they had it, they sent me a second bill for a higher price: $17.99 plus tax ($19.65 total). This is a textbook bait-and-switch tactic — quote one price, then raise it after the customer is locked in.
To address the issue, I emailed Fernando and asked one clear question: Why was I billed $17.99 plus tax for 1 audio cassette tape instead of the quoted $14.99 plus tax for 1 audio cassette tape? His first two responses didn’t even acknowledge the price discrepancy — one simply touted the “high quality” I’d be receiving, which was irrelevant. In the end, I never received an apology for the bait and switch. I only received an email saying I would be sent a new bill.
Another problem: customers are automatically enrolled in a monthly cloud storage service, even if they don’t want it. I was told I could cancel it after I receive my digitized order — a needless hassle.
And despite only having one audio cassette tape to digitize, I was forced to pay $14.99 for a giant shipping box, which makes no sense and adds to the unnecessary cost.
On the positive side, Fernando was polite, although I’m not entirely sure if he was a real person or an AI bot.
Bottom line: Legacybox’s practices are misleading. The extra charges may seem small, but it’s the principle that matters. I cannot recommend a company that operates this way.
Legacybox's response below claims that the two different prices are for two different items. However, I only asked for a quote for one item (a single audio cassette tape), not two items. Legacybox's response does not address my concerns outlined clearly above.

I sent in 15 reels and they could only digitize 14 reels due to its format but they refused to give me a credit.
Very disappointed in this company!!!!

sent in (8) super 8 movies to be transferred to memory stick.
These have been kept from sunlight and heat over the years, played very well on an 8 mm projector. The transferred files are so dark you can't make out the people. Also some transferrers are out of focus.

I sent them 40 home movies. The order included VHS and VHS-C.
Of the group 2 of the digital transfers were blank although the original tapes were not and could be played on my VCR I confirmed.
Additionally another 14 either the sound was bad or there was so much interference and static in the digital video they sent me. Again I tested everyone of them on my VCR when returned and you could use the tracking to clear every one. Evidently their auto tracking does not work well.
I had all 16 redone with a different service and they came back excellent.
It appears to me they do not check their work for mistakes or quality and just run them and ship back regardless.
I would recommend everyone research other transfer service providers and avoid Legacybox.
UPDATE 09.11.2025
After my review I was contacted by Bekah with Legacybox customer service and she requested samples of the TERRIBLE DIGITAL TRANSFERS THEY PERFORMED.
I set up a cloud account for this and sent them the link with the SAMPLES OF THEIR VERY INFERIOR WORK and THE CORRESPONDING EXAMPLES of those same tapes REDONE DIGITIZED WITH A DIFFERENT SERVICE which were excellent.
Their response from Bekah: I am sorry that we are not able to issue a refund for this order.
My Response: Your company should be ashamed to treat customers this way.
Again, you are responsible for the quality of the work. You received the revenue no matter who you paid to sell your service! You hold the revenue. Not offering a refund is unacceptable!!!!!!
Their response from Bekah: I understand your perspective, but I truly am unable to issue a refund for your order.
So bottom line: THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE MIGHT EVEN BE WORSE THAN THEIR VHS TAPE DIGITIZING TRANSFER SERVICE!!

I ordered a package from Legacybox for over $400 back in November and intended to have them transfer my family's photos, film, etc. After a few months, I realized my sister's couldn't get the photos I needed so I contacted Legacybox. Long story short, they kept all my money and never replied. I'll never do business with these people again.

Received response from Legacybox claiming "policy" after 60 days, they
keep your money. They tried to get me to order other services! Don't do business with Legacybox. I'll keep you posted but they don't want to refund anything!!

I had multiple home movies on VHS transferred to digital. The digital versions I got back were horrible. They were impossible to watch. I contacted Legacybox and showed them what the VHS recordings looked like played on a VCR. The difference was tremendous. No jumps, lines, static. I asked for a refund and they gave me $24 back on a $240 order. I couldn't believe it. They did not take responsibility for poor quality of their product. Terrible customer service. Will not use again or recommend.

I chose Legacybox based on reviews and the fact that I had multiple different media including VHS tapes, Sony Handycam tapes, micro audio cassettes, regular audio cassettes, slides, B&W negatives and color negatives [up to 20 items in total for $371]. The quality of what I got back was mediocre to bad.
I had forgotten but I had digitalized the regular audio cassettes myself more than 10 years ago so I had a comparison. The volume of the Legacybox digitalization was so low that I was not able to listen to any of them -including the microcassettes- using a normal computer; my own digitalization of the regular cassette tapes was loud and clear.
The B&W negatives all have a pink background. The color negatives all have a blue background. On all negative digitizations there are scratches and dust marks. The audio tapes were converted to .wav format instead of the more universal MP3 format.

Stay clear of Legacybox. The quality of the videos they transferred were horrible. I ordered a thumb drive and cloud. After receiving the final product I cancelled the cloud and they still charged me the monthly fee. Customer service is useless. After submitting this review I did receive a credit for the monthly cloud fee and notification that my cloud account was cancelled. My overall rating still stands the same.
