Visiting Waterloo is something that I have wanted to do for a number of years and, when I saw this tour advertised, I jumped at the opportunity. I was not disappointed as the tour guide (David Warren), courier and driver were excellent. David was very knowledgable and he imparted this knowledge in an easily understood manner and was witty with it. The organisation was first class and the hotel was more than adequate for what we needed. Although you can look at maps and photographs, you cannot fully understand the difficulties that the commanders and soldiers on the day would have had until you have seen the battlefield. Recommended.

A great tour of the essential sites related to the Battle Of Waterloo. David was an excellent guide with an exhaustive knowledge of the battlefield, the combatants and the political situation prior to, and during the battle. His handouts were a wonderful, detailed, bonus. The sites visited on the tour were of excellent quality and good educational value. The walks were a little less challenging than we had anticipated, however they were relevant and interesting. The hotel used provided all the amenities required. The breakfast was good and the hotel was quiet and comfortable and clean. The location was a little remote as there was very little opportunity to explore Brussels itself unless you were prepared to navigate the local public transport. The team on the coach were friendly and helpful throughout the tour and the coach itself was in good clean condition.

If you are into the Napoleonic era, this tour is an absolute must for you! I found being able to see and walk the ground of the battlefields of Quatre - Bras/ Ligny and Waterloo, absolutely fascinating. The numerous museums contain plenty of artefacts that will satisfy the most ardent enthusiast. Mix this with a guide that knew his stuff and a coach crew second to none, and you get an amazing experience. Our guide was informative/ knowledgeable and witty, and was even available in the evenings to answer any questions anyone had. Our coach crew could not do enough for us, and ensured our needs and comfort were paramount. The Holiday Inn at the Brussels Airport may not be everyone’s ideal accommodation, but it was comfortable and put us in easy access of the road system around the battlefield area. Plus you could easily access the centre of Brussels by train or bus. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour to anyone.

I first booked to join this tour 4 years ago, but Covid intervened and it failed to run last year. however, this time we rolled (August 2023) and it was worth the wait. Guide and drivers were exemplary and the itinerary covered all that could be desired in three days. Four star hotel in Wavre was great, but alas, did not serve evening meals - but the bar more than made up for that! All in all, excellent value, and for wargamers, re-enactors and military buffs, essential to get your boots on the ground and feel the terrain, bringing aspects of the battle to life in a way that maps alone cannot do.

WONDERFUL, everything I hoped for and more besides. It was hard at times not to smile and think that our guide 'Gary' had not fought at the battle himself! Almost no detail was missed by him, insights and antidotes flowed almost continuously from his lips and whenever in doubt, he was unafraid to seek thoughts and opinions from what was a very knowledgeable group which he led. This was a great strength and allowed a warmth and togetherness to grow that will never be forgotten by me. Please pass on my “well done” to him for a truly insightful, entertaining and moving guide to the fulfilment of my 50 year wait to visit this battlefield. Thank you

An interesting experience, especially the museum at Waterloo. Walking the battlefield with a guide puts it all in perspective. I’ve been on a lot of Leger tours and this one didn’t disappoint.

I was very impressed with the level of organisation. The leader kept us well informed with explanations, texts and maps. The selection of locations and museums visits were excellent. The hotel was very good, but I had only one disappointment. There was there was no restaurant in the hotel. This meant walking to the nearest city centre or being driven to an eatery for lunch and dinner each day.

Good tour guides and drivers who looked after us well. Programme enjoyable and very informative. Travel arrangements went smoothly except for unfortunate delay on way back to Carlisle that added an hour to the journey.
