Recently switched from a different…

Recently switched from a different company over to Liberty Security. It was a smooth experience. Sales rep was so helpful, installer was excellent. Called into their call center with some questions after the installation and they were so friendly!
I would recommend going with them for sure.

I would give a minus rating but they…

I would give a minus rating but they don't have it so one star. Customer service sucks. I had nothing but problems with this company whenever I reached their so called customer service. When I cancelled, they came up with an excuse that it will take an extra month to cancel charging for that month. They are just a money grab. DO NOT sign up with them. They should be out of business. Scam artist.

If there was a 0 star I would give it that. I've been paying for Liberty Security for over a year and It's been nothing but problems. I pay for a service that hasn't worked for me once. This company is a scam. I'd like the contact information for Head Boss of this organization because the experience I've had is criminal and I demand my money back.

This business is a diagrace.

Like many others, I wish there was a zero to give this company. We have just had terrible experiences with them. Our alarms go off arbitrarily. Then we get charged because the police come. They ask five or six times for your password and don't accept your actual password. Transfered to various people five times as alarms roared throughout the house. The worst part was that my husband was just home from surgery and the alarms were very disconcerting. Terrible, terrible customer service. I was in tears and worried that the noise would cause my husband to have a seizure. They couldn't seem to help at all, nor did they care!
They didn't call back when the call dropped. The police showed up because Liberty couldn't figure out how to shut off the alarm!! Just a horrible experience and this is the second time they have let us down. Can't wait for our contract to be up in December. Good riddance to liberty security! Shame on the way you treat valuable customers!

Awesome company and awesome people!

I've had wonderful experiences with the company for the last 3 years! Extremely helpful staff and technicians! Everyone I've ever talked to at Liberty has been willing to bend over backwards to help their customers and make sure they are providing good service!
I havent had a problem with my system the entire time I've had it and any time I've had questions they were so quick to help.

Im getting ready to move soon and they made the process of switch my services to another address so easy!

Would recommend them to everyone!!

Never work with Liberty Security.

Never work with Liberty Security.

Ever.

Screwed us out of thousands of dollars, refuses to take responsibility for faulty equipment, and strongarms customers into contracts when they call to cancel.

If you are in a contract with Liberty right now, I would urge you to cancel as soon as your contract is up. Learn from our mistake.

So here’s the story.

We signed on with Liberty a few years back. When our contract was up, I told my wife, who is our primary account holder, to cancel with them.
When she called, they kept redirecting the conversation to renewing rather than cancelling. She felt like she didn’t have a choice and that if she hung up that they would keep charging us anyhow for the service despite asking to cancel.

So, she agreed to a new contract.

That’s on us. 100%.

Liberty comes in and installs new equipment in our home. Within two months, one of the few times that my wife and I are both out of the house, (I’m a half hour away at work, she’s an hour away for our four month old’s doctor’s appointment) the hallway smoke detector goes off. Well, there must be a fire, right? That’s the entire reason we have this system, right?
Firemen come, no fire. No smoke. No steam. No nothing. Faulty detector. Firemen take the batteries out of the smoke detector and tell us not to put them back in. The fire department urges us not to use Liberty’s equipment.

Because of a town bylaw about false alarms, we are charged $1,000… which is outrageous in its own right, but beyond the scope my writing.
I tell Liberty that because it was their equipment that malfunctioned, I expect them to pay the fine. They refuse. False alarms are our problem, not theirs. Apparently it’s our fault that their equipment sucks.

(Again, avoid Liberty.)

So I tell Liberty that since we’re still in the “Free” period of their “service” (it’s only cost us $1,000 so far) that I want to cancel the contract without any fees. Well, this is impossible as well. There’s no way out of the contract (again, I do take responsibility for re-upping with them). Even if they stop providing services, we’re required to pay the monthly charge totally over $1,500 in total for the duration.

So that’s the story. Liberty is a company that will install faulty equipment, leave you with the fine, and refuse to let you out of the contract that they’re not holding up their end on. They’ve offered to “fix” the broken system, but I don’t want to be babysitting my security system. Imagine if the next time my wife and I are out of the house the alarm goes off again. What should we do? Tell them to send the fire department and almost surely get a $1,000 fine because Liberty’s equipment is trash, or tell them not to send the fire department and risk our home burning to the ground and our insurance company shrugging and saying that we’re liable since we called off the fire department?

Now, I’m not saying that it was intentional that Liberty, after we told them we wanted to cancel, installed faulty equipment in our home. I’m not saying that. I’m just saying that if you tell Liberty you want out, you’d better be prepared to argue on the phone. They will try to strongarm you into another contract. Or better yet, just don’t work with them in the first place.

We learned our lesson. Hopefully you can learn from it, too.

As we’ve got 34 months left in our contract, I plan to post our story every single time Liberty charges us for a service that we’ve requested they cancel. That monthly charge will be my own little reminder. Hopefully we can keep others from making the mistake that we made.

Really bad install

Really bad install. Did 3 different sloppy/misplaced things that I specifically did not want. Zero communication about options or alternatives. I suppose I should have spent all four hours watching every step, because I was not asked about my very clear needs. Installer was a nice guy but that doesn't mean much without consideration of the customer. I hope the service & equipment is a lot better than the install, that might take it from zero to one star. I even asked customer sevice if i needed to hire an electrician to ensure it was installed nicely. Would have much rather hired one before instead of after!

The worst Home Security service

The worst Home Security service. So glad I am done with my 3 years with this company. My doorbell camera isn't working and my contract is over on August 8th, 2023, kept calling them for a tech support and out of the blue they are the busiest in the world and short on tech staff. Ya rite. Good riddance. Taking my business to Telus. Would never recommend this company to anyone.

Most disgusting company I have ever dealt with

Please do not deal with this company- they do not care about you all they are about is money!!!

We signed my mum up with this company for a medical alert necklace. It was a three year contract which is fine as she wasn't getting any younger but I was told if god forbid anything was to happen this contract would end. Well god forbid the worst did happen I lost my mum on May 4th with a two month battle with cancer.
My mum was in the hospice and my dad wanted me to cancel the contract so he wouldn't have to worry about it while I was gone ( I live in another province). I called the company to explain the situation and I was told oh well I am so sorry but you have 20 months left on your contract but let me see if we can give you a discount. For three days while I was at my mum's bedside they kept calling to tell me they could give us a discount of $300 but we are liable for the rest which is over $500.
My mum's bank account is closed so they are not getting payment and are harassing me for payment and her death certificate. They are now threatening to send me to collections as my name was on the contract which they make another person be on it and now I see why- So if someone dies they still get there money!!
I am morning my mum and all they want is money.

So many other companies but read the fine print we signed up with Turnip and this is what we got. I am so disgusted and we spread this message on as many sites as I can.

This company takes advantage of the elderly!

This company takes advantage of the elderly. They convinced my elderly mother them to sign a contract for 1 free year and then locking her in a 3yr contract then, when mom try to quit they locked her in again. While they were out of town, we had a false alarm (error on their end) and they refused to take credit for and also failed to provide the service they promised. They did not even contact the home owner before the fire, police and ambulance showed up. My elderly mom wanted to quiet (again) and they made her pay out her contract in full ! She is still better off removing herself from that horrid company. I saw all of this first hand while visiting my parents and I spoke to Liberty who took no accountability with the false alarm or poor service.

If there was a 0…

If there was a 0, I’d give them that. I can get past the fact I’ve probably been paying for this system that most likely hasn’t been working for the past 3 years. But the customer service is atrocious, and then some. If your reading this review, please research other companies because this one is aweful.

I returned my lifeline twice

I returned my lifeline twice. The last time they promised me that they wouldn’t charge me monthly anymore. That was a couple of months ago, yet they charge me every month although I refused to get another one. Because it wasn’t any good, I’ve broken my hip last September and then my ankle last November but I got nothing, no help whatsoever.
What am I supposed to do? Go to the police and charge them with fraud?

Active Alarm and double failure

Terrible company. My neighbor entered our vacant home and forgot to phone me first so I could disarm the system. By the time I saw my phone with emails of the alarm, 6 minutes had elapsed. No phone call from monitoring. I disabled the system through the app and phoned my neighbor. They had exited at the 5 minute mark. They said the panel never sounded a siren. It stayed perfectly quiet. I phoned Liberty and asked to speak to management that failed to phone me back at the time slot I provided when I was available. Save your money and use another company.

Update. I just found out that Liberty Secure is not registered with the BBB. That says a lot.

Absolutely the worst company

Absolutely the worst company! Got life alert systems for both my Mum and myself. My Mums system would screech for no reason at all hours of the day until we just finally unplugged it. Mine was silent for about a month but then it started doing the same thing. I fell twice, pushed the button and no one responded. The second time I lay on the floor for almost 3 hours until my son got home from work. Don’t waste your money, it’s a complete scam!

Don't do it

I have had a system with Liberty since July 2021. The first 4 months were great, then the issues started. Constant notifications that the system cannot communicate with our devices (phones) despite troubleshooting, re-installing and efforts by tech support. A fire on Christmas Day that we discovered by smell, NOT the smoke detector. (Apparently "the smoke was not heavy enough")
There is a shopping list of issues, not to mention a slight increase in the monthly premium I just discovered today... with no warning.
They lock you into a contract. I have held up my end. They have defaulted on theirs. I WILL be having the system removed from my home.
I advise against using this company.
