There are many graphic designers who will make a nice pitch deck for you. But there's only one who takes a scientific approach to fund-raising, and brings all the experience and knowledge that a founder needs to craft a narrative successfully in the vc world. Ro and his team were exceptionally talented, but we can't leave it at that without explaining why this team is unique.
From the first, our discussions were characterized by insightful questions and clear communication - we had no doubt about what to expect at each stage. Of course, that's how all business relationships should be, so perhaps that's not quite enough to set this freelancer apart.
Instead, let's talk about copy. I'm pretty good with words, but I live and breathe our company's messages, and it's rare for me to find someone who can both absorb my thoughts and add to them. Ro got it. He understood the value props, and he found those missing words that make all the difference, took out the ones that weren't needed, and fine-tuned the whole into a focused and clear story. I think our discussions about the company were some of the most valuable I've had, even though I've spoken to mentors and advisors and investors for months.
And let's not leave out design - the world of design evolves constantly, and you can accidentally signal that you belong in yesterday's news by using an old style of graphics. Ro's team updated our slides effortlessly to a beautiful and innovative style that perfectly matched our company persona. They created extra versions of some slides so we never felt cornered into one option, but had enough to choose from that we still felt like we were guiding the project. And we knew our style was created for us, not from some template.
Near the end of the project, we started talking about the larger investment landscape in a very useful way. Again, the team has a scientific and analytical approach to capital raising, which leads to more confidence for me as a CEO when I pitch our company. I am now confident of the value of our product and our company, clear on our competitive advantages, and can easily tailor a pitch of any length from one minute to 30 minutes.
In summary, the best thing about having completed this project is that we have a well thought out, purpose-driven, clear deck that I feel good about presenting to investors. There are no slides that I rush through anymore, because they all look great. Thank you to Ro and team - this has been a very rewarding and beneficial exercise. We initially engaged LAP to assist our management team in the creation of a pitch deck and sales collateral. Ro and his team were great to work with, they took the time to understand our business, the industry and our product. LAP was able to understand the target audience, the solutions we provide and translate that to a clearly articulated deck that set the benchmark for our design and copyright for sales and marketing.

Having had such a great experience, we then undertook a full redesign of our Website. LAPs process included undertaking market research, website wireframes, design and copyright (including case studies and white papers etc). Our senior management team worked closely with LAP team through regular meetings and brainstorming sessions to deliver a website that has raised our level of professionalism and clearly articulates our offering.

A real stand out in working with LAP is their clear communication and organisation, our regular workshops provided open platform for collaboration which was key to each projects success. It has been an absolute pleasure working with LAP team.

We needed a Pitch Pack designed (One Pager, Pitch Deck, and Information Memorandum) for a proposed development opportunity. Considerable time was invested researching prospective marketing designers to support with the project and Life's a Pitch (LAP) were ultimately chosen for their corporate experience, high design quality, and commercial thinking.

The process run by Life's a Pitch was efficient and effective. They were creative in their thinking and brought their creative ideas to the workshops, which were helpful to broaden our thinking and useful to finalise viewpoints. The workshops were facilitated with strong communication skills that flowed through to the pitch pack. It was also clear that LAP had invested time in market research and had access to market intel. Ultimately the project was on time and budget and, importantly, we received feedback from a prospective capital partner that the IM was one of the best they had seen.

We worked with Ro and Romano (RoRo from here on) primarily on rebuilding a new pitch deck as we were in a new phase of our business growth. We had built a range of previous decks with the internal team with good results, but the combination of launching our platform in 3 months, being very close to our own material, and ultimately wanting fresh eyes without our own biases and views on what we thought was important meant working with an external 3rd party was on the table.

Two of the big concerns using 3rd parties is that they are usually slower than working internally, and that they cant put the passion into it the way you can yourself. This simply wasnt an issue for LAP: We could not be happier with the work.

They provided a depth of research in the sectors we play in to help focus our attention on where our market is playing. They also really took the time to really understand what the business is about. As a founder, you can get way to close to your product and LAP did a great job of looking at the core value prop and bringing a well researched & reasoned lens to really cut through.

Also want to call out: the time frame we had given the time of the year was tight, and they all (RoRo in particular) went well above and beyond. The message, artistic design, methodology, and most important, SIMPLIFICATION of the story into a coherent deck was top notch.

The workshops were focused and time effective, and you could really tell they had done their research in between sessions and came up with real insight and perspectives. They listened to our views and feedback on what worked\failed in the past, but still were willing to say where they thought something we thought wouldnt work, and why... Which can be hard to do with founders!
