Unprofessional, not empathetic and made things worse

After 22 years of service, the company that I worked for chose to make me redundant.

That company gave pay rises considerably below the RPI over multiple years and took their course of action after I objected and involved my union.

The company did not have internal HR and outsourced it.

Full details of my experience with the former employer will be detailed extensively online and by broadcast media in due course, after I have won the Employment Tribunal that I am initiating.

The Lighter HR employee was not at all balanced and only interested in the employer’s interests.

She had an aggressive, rude manner and would not respond to anything with a straight forward answer. She talked over me multiple times.

She misrepresented me in her notes and refused to correct them.

It was obvious that even the employer was embarrassed by her behavior.

I was advised that her comments represented the company’s view and this was later withdrawn as there were clear inaccuracies.

Many of my comments on Lighter HR shadow those of others online.

The only positive online comments for Lighter HR come from employers.

Unethical employers may think that Lighter HR are the perfect representative for them, but they should consider the further costs of meetings, grievances, appeals, GDPR requests, payouts and reputational damage both internally and externally that they will subsequently face.

Handled correctly by Lighter HR and the company, the redundancy could have had a very limited impact on my former company but the appalling handling has changed me from a loyal employee to someone ready to do all legally possible to ensure adequate compensation is paid for my unfair dismissal. This will cost the company far more than it might have. A ridiculously low sum was offered to me if I would sign a non disclosure agreement and of course this was rejected.

Many current employees are also aware of the way that I have been treated and others will surely join the 20% of the company workforce that have been made redundant or left because of low pay or other reasons already this year.

The score in this review is based on the first few weeks interactions I had with Lighter HR and their employee.

I suspect that when it became obvious that the employee was not handling the case correctly, a new employee was allocated to my case.

She listened, was polite, pleasant and empathetic and had a professional manner. That experience was entirely different but the damage had alreday been done. Lighter HR and my former company have to be responsible for the HR employee behavior.

Advice that I have received dictates that the extent of detail that I can include in this review is limited until legal proceedings are concluded. The review will then be updated to reflect the full details of the ex-employer.
