Kinda good server but customer service is the worst. Looks like they have only 1 human for the entire planet, and is a toodler...
So I have to solve any issue or Question myself...
And as soon you dont have crédits they will start sending email like crazy... Maybe you should improve customer service like you have your billing

Chinese Scammers..

Well to begin with, this was the only hosting company available in the country (Manila) so this was my only choice. Firstly for such a high price compared to other hosting providers I would expect it to offer more than 1 mbit/s in network. The support is the biggest joke I've experienced and I've been hosting for the past 10 years, this is 10x worse than OVH's support which is known for being pretty bad. The staff don't seem to have an knowledge about how their own platform to and tell me to do things they "think" will work. I simply asked them I want to downgrade my VPS from 16GB to 8GB RAM to save 25 USD a month and the staff told me to wait to the next month. I waited until 1:st of september and the downgrade option was still not available. I later sent a ticket and they said it's not possible to downgrade at all meaning I just paid double for almost a whole month. If I got the right information to begin with I would just have stopped the server and moved elsewhere saving my money. They also advertised that you will get 20 USD credits on new signups which is also a lie, I only got 1 USD. The support responded saying that it's "random" - you get between 1-20 USD. And the fact they use Facebook Messenger as support is also a red flag along with not being able to spell in english.. I wish I could give it 0 stars since they scammed me due to their incompetence not knowing their own product..

The Chinese cheaters DO NOT TRUST

The Chinese cheaters. DO NOT TRUST. They are scammers. There is no technical support. No answers. No help. And they just banned or closed my account because I just ask them about a payment refund.

Very bad network speed, capped to 1MB/s 🐢

TL;DR: Very poor network connectivity/speeds, 2/5 star cause of that, otherwise 5/5 for everything else (web portal, pricing, server availability, snapshots/custom images)

Very bad network speeds. They have no concept of shared (off peak hour/peak hour) bandwidth. They have a dedicated bandwidth option which is really expensive, its not sustainable for normal businesses who I assume are their target customers. In Dhaka servers you get only 10Mbit/s connection even the IX speed is CAPPED To 10Mbit/s. That's totally unusable, even my cheapo home connection has gigabit shared BDIX. Large file transfers are almost impossible. Looking at their peeringdb they have 10Gb/s BDIX, so IDK why theyre limiting the IX speed when they probably have all that bandwidth available. All the other regions I have tried have a speed limit of 100Mbit/s eveywhere. Which is a bit better but still relatively low compared to other providers in 2023.

I get that theyre trying to provide a service in a lot of developing countries where bandwidth is expensive and they cant get a huge bandwidth pool in every region. But almost all other providers will give you a good off peak speed or burst speed. So they should introduce a shared bandwidth plan where user will get more speed when they have it available, otherwise it is just not useable.

Worst performance in US.

I searched for "hourly billing VPS", and somehow this service was ranked at the top in a review. After experiencing this service, I don't believe the sincerity of that review.

I've tried their US servers.

Worst performance in CPU benchmarks. What's worse is that it went down by 20% since the last time I checked it three weeks ago.

I test CPU with sysbench. "sysbench cpu run"
Their VPS gave me around 850 about 3 weeks ago. It gave around 680 today. 850 is not high, but normal in cheap hosts. But 680?

The deal breaker is network. Network is only 100Mbps in US. I understand 100Mbps in some 3rd world countries. But in the US? This must be a joke.

I've asked for a refund for my unused balances. If they give a refund, I'll at least give them three stars for it.

*Update- I've got the refund after a week from my ticket. So I'm good now. Since this is hourly billed, I didn't lose much. This kind of trial and error happens always in VPS hosting.

I've learned a dear lesson after losing hundreds. "Never pay yearly, try to avoid monthly"

SMTP Port 25 is 100% blocked for both outbound and inbound. This means it is impossible to receive emails. I told the LightNode customer support staff that I do not need to send emails but just receive emails but they do not seem to understand. If LightNode wants to block outbound SMTP Port 25, I have no problems but they should not block inbound SMTP traffic. I tried to run Mail In A Box on my Ubuntu 18.04 box but I cannot receive any emails.

Seems like a decent alternative to western providers, despite the poor English in text and writing. Tho without an API it seems kind of useless, I like to manage my services via terminal commands instead of a graphical ui.
