Simple, transparent, and perfect for Hungarian investors
I’ve been using Lightyear for a while now, and it has quickly become my go-to platform. The interface is incredibly simple and easy to navigate, making it a breeze to compare different stocks and ETFs.
Here are the features I love the most:
Cost Transparency: I can see exactly what fees I’m paying without any hidden surprises. The costs are generally very low compared to competitors.
Smart Charts & AI: The AI integration is genuinely useful. I love seeing news events directly on the charts, which helps me understand exactly why a price went up or down.
TBSZ Support: For Hungarian investors, the ability to open a TBSZ account is a game-changer. The step-by-step guide they provide makes the process foolproof and simple.

some 'usual' shares not buyable, unwanted currency conversions
lots of 'usual' shares (e.g. Ryanair) couldn't be bought
(lots of derivates, e.g. puts on Tesla etc. can't be bought too, but that's understandable)
but the most annoying thing is that after a limit order is placed, then immediately currencies are converted into the currency the order is set.
So you're stuck with a currency you didn't want to have a high amount of when the limit order is not fulfilled.
Conversion fees etc. apply although a conversion wasn't wanted

We do offer RyanAir, but if you don’t see the option to buy this instrument, please write to us at support@lightyear.com. If you want, you can also request instruments directly in the app by writing the name in the search bar and tapping on the button at the bottom inviting you to make a request.
We appreciate you taking the time to explain the concern with orders. When a buy order is placed in different currencies, the funds indeed get converted before the order is executed to ensure the funds are readily available to execute it. We realise this can be inconvenient if the order isn't filled. While this is how our current system operates, we genuinely value your feedback and will share it with our product team as we continue to improve the user experience.

My favorit investment account
I have been using Lightyear for over a year already. Why I like it so much:
1. They offer probably the lowest fees out there.
2. Both the webapp and mobile app are lean and user friendly.
3. A huge variety of stocks, funds, ETFs, etc. are available.
4. Very low currency exchange fee (0.35%), and no spread.
My only 'negative' experience is that I could not transfers the 'Long Term Investment' accounts from my current service provider. (Not supported by Lightyear.)
Anyways, their services are great. Recommended for those who plan to open their first investment account, or want to diversify their portfolio.

Ease of use
Have loved the experience so far. While not all globally recognized instruments are currently available on the platform yet, I simply like the simplistic UI that is very much beginner friendly. Investing on other platforms can sometimes seem like a daunting process especially for a beginner. Lightyear tackles this problem beautifully.
