Cannot fault the lodge itself it was…

Cannot fault the lodge itself it was clean and comfortable and conveniently round the corner from me (only reason I'm giving 3 stars). My mom, who was staying there, was saying how she'd definitely come back... AND THEN CHECKOUT - 10:02 the woman is talking down to my disabled mother who is ready to go, saying you're meant to be out before 10 and that's a £50 fine. My mother who is beating cancer, preparing to move house and is staying there to help me, her daughter after a major operation has been spoken down to in such a degrading way. Moral is you don't know what people are going through and compassion would go a long way rather than being an uptight monster. You expect this from hotel chains rather than independently run places like a campsite. Pity, as I would have recommend this place to friends and colleagues but I'll be telling them to rather avoid after such rudeness.

Linwater caravan park

Linwater caravan park.
I have stayed here twice and both experiences have been superb. It is clean and tidy and well managed by charming and professional people. Its restfully quiet in the evenings and just far enough from Edinburgh to be in the countryside but still only 10 minutes from the free park and ride.
Because I am in town for a month I stay in one of the chalets which are ideal and well kept. That said spaces allotted for campers/vans/tents are generous with hook up for power and water included. Showers are good and hot and the laundry facilites are fit for purpose.
It's not a massive site so book ahead.
