The Handmade Scotch Egg Company or Little Verzons Farm as it’s now known, was founded in 2002 by husband and wife Neil and Penny Chambers. Originally hand making batches of Scotch Eggs to sell to customers at a local Farmers Market, the business has grown from the humble team of 2 to 50 and now manufactures over 60 different varieties of Scotch Egg along with Pork Pies, Sausage Rolls, Quiches and Salamis. Operating out of its commercial kitchen The Egg Shed, the business handmakes and dispatches upwards of 15,000 Scotch Eggs per week selling to circa 200 different food businesses in and around the UK including supermarkets, delicatessens and food halls. The Egg Shed’s mission continues to follow the ethos of making everything by hand where possible, using local ingredients that adhere to the best welfare practices. With the Scotch Egg business firmly rooted, In 2014 Penny and Neil purchased Little Verzons Farm, a Farm Shop and Café set in 14 acres of wild farm land in rural Herefordshire. With its own lake, apple & plum orchard, woodland and meadowland, The Nest provides a wildlife haven for it’s visitors beyond that of a Farm Shop and welcomes a variety of customers ranging from dog walkers to young families with children alike. With Scotch Eggs, Penny’s freshly baked cakes and delicious coffee as the nucleus of The Nest, the focus of the site is to welcome all visitors with the very same welcome Penny and Neil would offer to guests in their own home whilst delivering excellent customer service and delicious food.
