I had a Global chef's knife sharpened and I know the angle differs from standard sharpening. I actually don't know whether Local Root did the standard or Global angle; I think standard. It came out beautifully and works great. Very reasonable cost, I think $12 or $15 (don't remember exactly.)

I also picked up the best garlic press in existence at the store... they know their stuff and when I started talking about needing a garlic press they steered me right. It was $50 but what can you do. The thing is marvelous. No more peeling garlic!

Took some of my best knives for their routine maintenance. Did a fabulous job! Had a variety including some from outside the US - each one perfect!

My knives came back quickly and with the best the I head since they were new. As a personal chef, I rely on my knives to make my job easier and more efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and will definitely use them again.

The quality of the sharpened knives is very high. However the price is high too and I wonder why.

We dropped off our knives. They were perfectly sharpened less than 48 hours later. An easy, perfect experience.

I brought several knives in to be sharpened when the person who regularly does the sharpening was away. Although they were not ready when promised everyone was very apologetic and I was offered "loaner" knives and a free sharpening next time. My knives were ready the next day and were nicely done.

They were quick, prompt, and professional sharpening a wide variety of knives and gave me a referral for a knife maker in the area who could sharpen serrated knives. I honestly think my knives are sharper than when I bought them! Reasonably priced for the service and I would highly recommend them.

Knife was sharpened and ready when expected. The blade looks uniformly sharpened, and I noticed a tiny ding on the cutting edge had disappeared. Knife cuts very well once again, great job!

I have been to Local Root a few times, to buy kitchen gadgets and to have my 25-year-old Henkels knives sharpened. Jonathan does an excellent job with the knives and guarantees his work. When I mentioned that my pre-Thanksgiving sharpening had not produced the sharpness I expected, Jonathan immediately offered to sharpen my knives for free, even though I had brought him the knives 6 months later. It is a pleasure to do business with someone who truly cares about the quality of his work and the experience of his customers.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff and I ended up with well sharpened knives and a lot of good information about my knives and their care.

I brought in my Global kitchen knife, which was as dull as a butter knife. Not everyone sharpens Global knives, and this one hadn't been sharpened in a very long time. It is a knife that I use daily. When I got the knife back, the little nicks in the blade were gone. It was razor sharp, and once again a joy to use. I will be back to Local Root with my other knives, and the global!

They did an excellent job. I brought in an old chipped knife and they completely restored the edge. Super fast turn around for service compared to most places and the price was fantastic as well. Will be taking all my knives there from now on.

The Wellesley area is lucky to have a prompt and professional knife sharpening service at Local Root. Cooking is a pleasure with properly sharpened tools!!
