Reliable service, car in good shape, friendly staff

Picking up the car at the Locauto office in Salerno was incredibly smooth and professional. Moreover, the car we were given was exactly the same model we had booked through Booking.com, which is not always the case when renting a car this way.

It is worth mentioning that the return location in Bari is actually at a different address, about four minutes away from the office itself. However, returning the car was not particularly complicated, as there is a parking area nearby where the drop-off takes place.

Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely choose Locauto again.

Booked through a broker, Locauto accepted a 1pm pickup. When we reached out the day before to confirm our train was arriving at that time (5min walk from station), they indicated they close at 1 and we were out of luck and should rebook in a neighbouring city. A portion of our party spent a few hours on phone calls and ultimately had to get an earlier train with new tickets the next morning to make it work. No grace given. To make matters worse, they also tried setting me up with a much smaller vehicle than I prepaid for until I complained and showed them a google comparison of the two car types when my luggage wouldn’t fit! In the end, it worked out, at great pain to me the customer.

Your staff in Salerno almost called me stupid when picking the insurance.
When returning the car in Milan, your staff was also unnecessarily rude when I asked him to switch to English.
No issues with the car.

Our experience with Locauto was overall excellent.
We rented a car from the Salerno office and returned it in Bari.
Before arrival I completed the online check-in and uploaded all required documents, which made the pickup process incredibly fast. The staff in Salerno were very friendly and professional. The entire handover took only a few minutes.
The car itself was almost brand new (around 7,800 km) and performed perfectly throughout our 1,000 km road trip across southern Italy. Returning the vehicle in Bari was also excellent. The Bari team contacted me one day in advance, provided clear instructions for the after-hours return, and everything went smoothly. I really appreciated their professionalism and communication.
There was only one issue that I hope Locauto will review.
I specifically booked and paid for an automatic transmission, but I received a manual transmission vehicle instead. Since I have more than 20 years of driving experience, including many years driving manual cars, I decided not to return to the office because my family and I were on a tight schedule. Fortunately, driving a manual car was not a problem for me.
However, an automatic transmission costs more, and it was the service I had reserved and paid for. If another customer had not known how to drive a manual car, this situation could have seriously disrupted their holiday.
Despite this, our overall experience with Locauto was very positive, and I would gladly rent from the company again. I simply hope this feedback reaches the Salerno office and that the company reviews how such situations are handled in the future.

I would also appreciate if Locauto could review my booking and let me know whether any compensation or refund of the price difference is possible, since I paid for an automatic vehicle but received a manual one.

Hello. Everything was ok, and fast

A rather new car - so Good, that I decided to buy the same type after holidays. Uncomplicated pickup and dropoff.

Super simply and easy check out and check in. The car was in great condition.

Quick and easy pick up and deliver.

The rental was easy to start. We started in Florence - Isolotto. Pickup was easy, driving was easy, payment was easy. Drop-off was not easy. We dropped off in Salerno. The rental clearly indicated a drop-off on Sunday, but the office was closed. There's no key drop-box, and no instructions on the location's website about drop-off after hours. Now, I arrived at 12:45pm, so it wasn't like I was trying to drop off in the middle of the night. So I had to put the car in paid parking overnight, and pay for an extra day. So $90 later, I was able to drop the car off with a staff member Monday morning. I was lucky to have stayed in the city another night. What if I had to catch a flight out evening? Was I supposed to mail the key back? This was unprofessional and completely preventable. If you know your location is closed on Sunday without an after-hours solution, WARN THE CUSTOMER.

The pick up was at Salerno Italy.
We were told that they had no record of our booking.
We were told that they had no more cars. That we would have to phone the agent .There was nothing they could do.
After probably 20 minutes of the 2 staff members speaking Italian & ignoring us, they decided, with no explanation they did have a car for us.
When the car arrived & I asked the staff member to show me how to work the sat nav, she had no idea.
She then gave me a portable satnav which was useless to me.
We eventually left the office over an hour late and extremely stressed.
I have sent a complaint to Discover card but have had no feedback.
I would like an explanation please.
