this company is a complete FRAUD, avoid at all costs.
They are not registered with the Master Locksmith Association.
They use bait & switch tactics by quoting a reasonable initial fee of 99 or less, then once on site and the work is complete increasing this by over 500%.
My bill came to over 600.
They are not properly qualified and use destructive methods. DO NOT USE!
Dreadful and very costly experience
I wish I had read the reviews of this company before calling out.
I managed to lock myself out so was in a panic and not thinking clearly.
Quoted £50 call out plus cost of whatever work would require. As soon as the man arrived he stated the lock had to be drilled out and stated it would be £500 in total. I agued this and he reduced down it to £400 with a basic lock barrel. I agreed and paid in desperation but deeply regret it now.
A complete con job and he was gone in ten minutes.

If possible I would give a minus Absolutely appalling experience.
I was initially quoted £60 for the job, which seemed reasonable. When the engineer arrived, I was told the lock would need to be drilled and that the cost would jump to £400. This was a complete shock. After I questioned it, the price suddenly dropped to £300, and then again to £238. How can a price change that drastically unless it was inflated in the first place?
To make matters worse, I was told the lock needed to be drilled – which turned out not to be necessary at all. It feels like I was pressured into paying far more than the original quote for work that didn’t even need doing.
The constant change in pricing and unnecessary upselling feels extremely dishonest and unprofessional. I would not recommend this company I would advise to stay well clear. Even when I contacted the company after the chap had left to complain they kept putting the phone down on me which to me speaks volumes! I personally don’t like to give bad reviews however, this company deserves one.,
I got charged £561.20 in labour fees!!
I got charged £561.20 in labour fees!!! Plus £200 extra for a new lock. The job was done in September. I’m an electrician and am baffled how this company charges that much for a 40minute job. They put you in a vulnerable spot by removing the lock and then adding on extra fees afterwards. Not only that they emailed me saying the reason they charge so much is for “specialist skills” 😂🤣😂🤣 . All he did was grind the bottom half of the existing lock off which was faulty!!! Then screwed it back! Would have done it myself but I left my tools at work. Complete scammers. Give tradesmen a bad name.
AVOID
This was shown as emergency locksmith 24. They said they'd be out within half an hour - was over hour and half. Site said no call out fee (which I actually would have expected) was told on call it would be £49 plus VAT. Once arrived the guy just said caught in another job and traffic, tried to force the lock then said fee would be £190 for drilling the lock, up to £95 for a new lock then would have to test it, plus the call out. I told him to leave it I would get someone else. He said the call out still had to be paid - offered bank transfer - as I had no card as I was locked outside. He then threatened to call the police as he needed paying! I did get another locksmith who arrived within 15 minutes and had me back inside in no time. No damage to the door, no new lock needed. I would avoid this company at all costs.
AVOID these scammers please
AVOID!! They are 100% pure scammers and con artists. Charged my tenant £590 for a single lock barrel replacement!!!
SCAM. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. In a moment of haste after accidentally locking myself out of the house while I had my two children outside, I called this number foolishly presuming it was legit. The service seemed polite enough - no cost was mentioned on the phone but it states on the website that all costs will be made clear BEFORE proceeding with the work, so I trusted this. A locksmith arrived 30-40mins later. After arriving he said it would cost £159 to drill the lock to open the door. I found that price a bit steep and asked whether the back door would be cheaper to open as it’s a more standard lock - he said the back door would be £400+ which immediately rang alarm bells in my head because we’ve had it changed for under £50 on the same day in the past. But I naively proceeded with the front door as it was cold out and I had my two young children waiting in the car. So he proceeded to drill the front door lock and said after he’d see what the cost of the lock would be (I stupidly presumed about £50 or a reasonable amount for a lock). Once the door was opened he said a lock the same as ours would cost over £440 a medium security would be around £300 or so and a low security lock would be £199 without any warranty. I realised my mistake at this moment and said we’d just pay for the opening of the door and sort out a new one later. He went off to write an invoice and came back with a £301 invoice after adding VAT (which hadn’t been mentioned either) and a £125 call out fee for being a Saturday after 2pm which he said he’d discount to £99. So £301 for 5 mins drilling a hole in our door and leaving us without a lock!! I refused to pay this as no one had mentioned the call-out charge so the office called me. The lady on the phone (from first a New York number and then a No Caller ID) was rude and after I repeatedly told her I wasn’t happy to pay a fee that had not been made clear in advance as per their website, she tried to blame me for not asking on the phone beforehand and eventually hung up on me. I continued to refuse to pay £301 for having a hole drilled through the door and absolutely no new lock put on. Eventually, the locksmith removed the call-out fee from the invoice but added £34 VAT bringing the cost to £190 and said I could expect a bill from the company. Absolutely ridiculous and a clear breach under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If I’d been informed that there was a £125 call-out fee before any work I would have asked them not to come in the first place and gone elsewhere. Certainly naive on my part but outrageous on their part that they clearly take advantage of people in vulnerable situations.
They charged me £60 for doing nothing
They charged me £60 for doing nothing, they got to me and in that time the spare was available so they didn’t need to do anything

DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!
My Wife and I accidentally locked ourselves out on the day of our holiday. Desperate to get the car keys to get our journey started, I called these guys. Big mistake.
The guy turned up and gave a quote of £300. I suspected this was way too high but as he was out then only option we agreed to pay.
As the job went on, he kept adding charges, stating several times that our 'lock was so complicated'.
In the end he left us with an invoice of double that, £600. We tried reasoning with him, but he insisted the double charge stayed.
After doing research and reading umpteen accounts online, we realised that we were one of many that had been scammed this way. These guys turn up, give a quote, then pluck massive end bills out of thin air to con innocent people.
Trying to get out money back! Please do not fall for this scam!
CON ARTISTS AVOID!!!
Turned up and changed the lock, no forced entry, the door was open and we had keys, tried to charge £1543.00
Never gave no indication of cost, before completing the job. Absolute con !! Told him to take his lock back and he dropped his price by £1200, which was still expensive!

This industry is responsible for a…
This industry is responsible for a large volume of consumer scams. The real difficulty is to identify the company and individuals who run them. There are generic websites which appear to overlap the services of a number of individuals. 24H Locksmith are assumed to be the same company as Locksmith 24h particularly as the accusations of scamming are so widespread. 24H Locksmith list their business address as 158 Uxbridge Road and their 'Regional' offices as 138 Uxbridge Road. 24H Locksmiths are registered at Companies House however it was dissolved in 2013. Technically there is no legitimate company called 24h Locksmith. There is no website for this 'business' either. The one thing that characterises all the companies that are variously known as 24/7 locksmith, Locksmith 24H, 24H Lockmith etc is they take fees usually over £700 for a few minutes work. It is certain none of these companies have business insurance if they do not have a legitimate business and the false names and addresses would put these 'businesses' into the realm of criminal activity and not civil.

Overall
Overall, this experience was frustrating and disappointing. Lack of transparency, overcharging, and failure to provide a proper receipt raise serious concerns about the integrity of this service. I would not recommend this locksmith to anyone looking for a trustworthy and professional service. I am a property manager, and I had a call-out today for someone to adjust my lock. He told me the lock was fine and just needed maintenance. After opening the lock, he seemed to struggle with putting it back together. Then, he said I needed to buy apart from Banham. (Note: After he fitted the lock, I found a small metal piece on the floor.)
He later called me and said the part would cost £160. I asked him to provide a receipt, and he said he would check. When he returned, he claimed he had paid in cash and could not provide a receipt. Now, the owner has asked me for a receipt. All I am asking for is a receipt—if you cannot provide one, then you have defrauded me.
The problem is now fixed, but the handle is hard to pull. He mentioned that it would take a few days to become smooth.
I am quite disappointed that he could not provide a receipt for Banham. Additionally, he charged me £60 for the call-out and another £60 for something else, but I am unsure what it was, as I cannot read the receipt. In total, he charged me £280 for nothing.
Furthermore, he made a comment about the house owner being extremely rich, and the owner overheard him.
company trading as Grant and Co services
This company trading as Grant and Co services from Albert Road, Romford.
Came to my daughter who is a vulnerable adult when she had locked herself out of her flat.
They did get her into her flat and fitted a cheap new lock. However they then charged her £ 1,006.20 for the job. She, unused to this type of scam. paid, thus resulting in having no money left for her rent and food .
I had an absolutely terrible experience…
I had an absolutely terrible experience with 24H Locksmith Ltd. My 6-year-old son, me and wife were left stranded outside our home with a broken key stuck in the lock, and instead of providing a fair service, this company took advantage of our emergency situation.
They charged an outrageous £580 for a simple job, with no prior warning about the cost. The service was rushed, unprofessional, and nowhere near worth the price. When I questioned the charge, I was met with dismissive and rude behavior.
This is nothing short of daylight robbery. If you are in an emergency, DO NOT call 24H Locksmith Ltd—you’ll be left out of pocket with a nightmare experience. I am now reporting them to Trading Standards and seeking a refund through my bank.
Avoid at all cost!
Grant and Co Services were called out…
Grant and Co Services were called out to get a broken key out of a lock. We were initially quoted £55, I rang back to confirm this. We were eventually charged £376.80 to drill out the lock. The lock to be replaced was estimated to be anywhere from £200 - £500 and that was without fitting. I was appalled and disgusted as the price we paid. We were literally over a barrel.
CROOK
Conned my 77 year old mother out of £547.20 for a simple barrel change; 5 minutes work and £20 materials.
Also charged VAT and doubtful that he’s VAT registered.
