not durable
We have had this machine for about 2 1/2 years, and usually ran 2-4 batches per week. We found it inappropriate to use inside because of the objectionable odors produced during processing. The drive mechanism failed recently and after evaluating our options have decided not to replace it due to the cost/return benefit. For an expensive appliance, it is not durable enough and there are faults with it's design and operation. Just before the drive unit failure, the seal on the canister drive started leaking. There are definite odor problems when using indoors. Moisture content is also a problem and occasionally resulted in either a wet gluey product, an incompletely dried and processed product, or on a couple of occasions material cooked solidly into the canister which caused the mixing to stop, and required disassembly of the canister internals to remove. The material the machine produces is not compost - it is more of a pre compost and has to be further incubated in a barrel or regular composter for a usable product suitable for adding to soil and actually growing plants. Given the requirements of further processing, the cost of supplies, and the poor durability of the machine and canister, there is little to be gained by using this machine. If one is going to have to process the product further, then a standard small barrel composter makes much more sense financially, and for labor considerations.
Expensive; lasted less than 2 years
Expensive appliance and it lasted less than 2 years. When I contacted Lomi for a resolution to the sheared off drive crank, their only offer was for me to buy a new one and sign up for the Membership...at a cost of $600 to me. So no resolution at all. If you expect your appliances to last more years than you paid in $100s, DON'T BUY FROM LOMI.

I am sold on this technology
I was having problems with the machine going off mid cycle but was able to resolve the issues and customer service was quick to respond. Also there are many videos on YouTube with troubleshooting ideas that were very helpful. Overall great product
Great Product, But Cheaply Made - Do Not Buy!
I'm really quite sad that I have to give a single star as my very appropriate rating, because I actually love the product. It's been a great use to me in my home, but unless you want to spend $400-$500 every year, avoid this product like the plague. I backed this product on Kickstarter, way back when they were just getting started. It worked great for a little over a year, at which point the fan motor apparently burned out. It was out of warranty, because, like most American manufacturers, the company gets away with a single-year warranty on a luxury item, so I had to procure a replacement fan. Fine, it's not an enormous cost, so even though it's annoying... whatever. I was instructed to install the fan myself, so I did. In the process, one of the tiny wires that connects the fan to the unit pulled out of it's connector, making the fan replacement impossible, and the entire unit unusable. I work in IT, so I put together computers and other electronic devices that are incredibly sensitive, not just to pressure, but also to temperature and electostatic shocks. I mention this because I am very, very experienced in handling components that are far more delicate than a fan motor should be, so the fact that an amount of force that would respect the architectural integrity of a electronic components worth thousands of dollars, would somehow pull a wire out of its housing, is evidence of nothing but an extremely cheap product. It looks fancy and sturdy on the outside, but the internal components WILL break, it just depends on whether that is within a few months, or within a few years. Customer support was unapologetic and refused to take any sort of reasonable accountability. My options were to either buy a replacement unit, or to f*** off. Please, please do not make the same mistake I made. And if you suspect I'm being even the slightest bit disingenuous, go to the Lomi website, and look at all the glowing 5-star reviews, and nothing lower... then try and leave a review of your own. You can't. They know they would be flooded with negative reviews.

Lomi email support
The email support I received when my Lomi composter stopped working, with a ventilation error light, was detailed, helpful, prompt, and clear. As it was under warranty I was then given clear instructions on how to claim a replacement, and to properly recycle or return the previous one.
Excellent customer service!
We had a technical issue with our Lomi and after trying a couple of fixes it was still not working properly so they are sending us a new unit. Customer service doesn’t get better than that!

Two Kudos and a Gripe
First of all, I’m incredibly pleased that someone (Team Lomi in this case) is doing something constructive about all of the organic waste that would otherwise accumulate in our kitchens. By returning the carbon to our soils and keeping it out of sanitary landfills, you bring us a long way toward minimizing methane production in our atmosphere. Kudos, Team Lomi!
Next I’d like to thank you for building a Lomi that even my wife can love. She thought my Lomi1 was too noisy and smelly to be used indoors. The new one (Lomi3) is so unobtrusive as to be overlooked a lot of the time. Its compact new size is a definite plus.
Finally (and this is what brought your score down from a five to a four), I was disappointed that you eliminated the Lomi Approved cycle. I had cut up all the scraps of packaging from my old Grow Tabs and charcoal pellets to make them more palatable for O’Homie, only to discover that I couldn’t feed them to him. One big step backwards for pela dot earth.

VERY DISAPPOINTED! BUYER BEWARE. We purchased a Lomi 2 one year ago and paid over $400 including a three year warranty. The unit started to leak about one month ago and Lomi requested that we change the filters and send them videos of the unit operating. We did what was asked of us.
They offered to replace our unit, but NOT in the color white that we need. They only have other colors in that model that will not look appropriate as we leave it out permanently on our countertop.
We asked them to replace our unit with the Lomi 3 in white which they declined to do. They want us to pay another $325 out of pocket.
The extended warranty is a SCAM. What is the point of offering it if you won’t honor it with a like kind unit? Of course color is important when it sits out on the countertop. This is NOT FAIR and we are so disappointed in Lomi customer service.
