This place is awesome

This place is awesome ! customer service at it's best. I bought my first guitar at the belleville location and 3 others since , I purchased my daughters first ukulele there as well . I am glad I went to long and McQuade for my first guitar. Not only for the product but the service was stellar, These guys go the extra mile to help you get what you need . Even if they don't carry the product you are looking for. They truly care about the customer . I just purchased a hummingbird from the Kingston location and it was no different . Top notch service ! the young lad that helped me even installed my strings I had purchased from the belleville location for free . Even gave me a battery for my electronics and installed it too. 5 stars from me all day long 💯

Man I love this store,

Man I love this store,

I have been in here a bunch of times in pursuit of fixing old instruments that seem to keep falling in my lap. In my complete lack of knowledge, I called the local Long and McQuade to ask for help in knowing what to do. They were so willing and gracious and were excited to help me on my ongoing quest to fix up all these instruments. Not only that, but one of there repair guys, (his name is Les, ask for him, he knows what he's doing) actually did some of the smaller repairs on some electrics I had, simply out of his own passion for his job (Thanks again man). I have continued to shop there because their is a real sense of community and comradery among them and they are always willing to help me out. Because of their help, I have fixed up these guitars and I am going in with a fresh batch soon to ask for more tips and tricks as well as buy any resources I may need. I have interacted with Julian, Joshua, Paul, Brandon and Les and every single one of them were knowledgeable, kind and always willing to help.

Thanks fellas, see you soon.

Long & McQuade

Long & McQuade
I would like to take this opportunity to pass on a sincere thank you to your Store Manager Shawn Dakin (Calgary East), he helped me tremendously
with a second hand guitar I purchased by giving it thorough check over, changed strings and setup. I found Shawn to be very professional👍
and extremely helpful. His experience and engaging nature is a benefit to the Long & McQuade organization as a whole.
Thanks again Shawn, it was greatly appreciated;

Long and McQuade Stouffville

Long and McQuade Stouffville have been great to me. I’ve bought 8 guitars and an amp there. If there’s a problem, they fixed it cheerfully. The staff are great people. Sometimes they are not perfect, but being in the store and watching the customers behaviour I’d say they do very well. The prices are basically the same everywhere unless you’re buying used so why not get free set up. Way better than The Arts store where they play pretty loose with the truth.

Terrible Service( 2 times) LONGUEUIL

I went to Long& McQuade on Chemin Chambly in Longueuil. The service was very poop!!?..... I stood at the counter and there were 3 people standing right in front of me looking at a guitar and not one of them acknowledged me. So I stood there for about a minute and they just kept on looking at the guitar. Even the girl looked straight at me and then turned her head and continued doing what they were doing. So I left and I was there to spend 1000$ on a keyboard. So I went to Steve's music where the service was excellent and I bought the keyboard there.(Yamaha E Psr 473) And they gave me a deal... I also called Long& McQuade to ask what was their Black Friday specials. They told me I had to go online and look. I called at 10:00 a.m. just when they opened. It seemed to me the guy couldn't be bothered to take a look in his system to answer my questions and just pushed me off to go check the website. That is really garbage service if you ask me... Long& McQuade has good instruments and normally have good service. It was 2 times in a row this year that that happened. I have nothing bad to say about Long& McQuade itself as a business, but their service in the Longueuil Chemin Chambly area needs to be better. Hopefully a few bad apples won't spoil the tree.. it's sort of at a point where I don't think I'll go back to Long McQuade in this area because it's frustrating as hell... They need to be trained in better customer service.. although there was one fellow there that held me in the end after I left and came back but it was too late. I was pissed. And what happened

Mostly bad packaging, not quick to ship and not trustful (gear hunter)

I had a few bad-ish experiences with Long & McQuade.

Generally, when you order online they're not really quick to ship.

Once I ordered an used item and I received it with cosmetic defects. I don't know if it was like this (and not declared) or if it got like this during shipping due to the poor packaging. They offer a small price reduction that I accepted but I should not have.
I will never buy used stuff from them again.

Recently I ordered a new item. They just put kraft paper around the factory box and send it like this. Do you think that I received the box in pristine condition ? Of course not.

Terrible do not order anything

Ordered a bass guitar and amp online. First the amp I ordered was not in stock but thought it would only take a few days to get. Called 4 days after my order was placed and was informed my amp was not coming in until Jan 2025?? The guy on the phone talked me in to buying a different amp they had in stock which was a little more expensive but whatever. My order was shipped next day with FedEx. Tracked my order carefully as I wanted to be home for the delivery. Days went by and everyday it would show my delivery was coming between certain times but nothing ever came. Called L&M and they said to give it another day and see. Called FedEx 3 times and each time they told me my order was on a truck out for delivery. Nothing ever came. Spent 5 days at home waiting and to this day still nothing. Finally got fed up and actually went to the FedEx depot to get answers as L & M was no help. Found out from FedEx my order has been there for 5 days and was in a storage trailer. FedEx then told me they didn't know when they would get to it and didn't know when it would be available for pick or delivery. It has now been a week and I have called L & M and have cancelled my order and they can have it shipped back to them. They didn't help in anyway to get this released nor did they really care. I am going to go spend my 2k elsewhere and probably will never go back to a L&M store and will not recommend them to any of my friends. If I could rate my experience to zero stars I would have.

Still great after many years

I've been buying, selling and renting gear with L&M for years now back to when I bought my first Korg Wave synth in college in my early twenties. It's changed a lot since then. I miss the original synth section in the Bloor/Ossington upstairs location. Still love the place and I always drop in when I visit Toronto.

No time unless you’re buying something expensive i guess.

I went there the other day to see if they could repair/replace the preamp cover in my Ibanez guitar. The guy barely looked at it and said no, it’s too old… I went on Amazon and bought the part and will replace it myself. Today I am going shopping for a new guitar for my son but I won’t be going to Long and Mcquade Brantford.

Willing to go extra mile

I bought an Akai MPC Keys 61 and am very happy with the purchase. I have bought other stuff from them over the years like snare stands etc. I was a little hesistant about buying an 'open box' on display even though they told me it was brand new, not a floor demo. I don't know the formal definitions, but if it's on the floor that makes is a floor demo, doesn't it? Anyway, they threw in an extra year of full warranty coverage for free to assuage my concerns and I went for it. Product works great and now I know if there are issues I've got two years of coverage. Good experience overall.

So many guitars, so little time.

I went to Calgary East and Daryl Harnach helped me find the perfect guitar. He was more than helpful - he was instrumental (no pun intended) in helping me make a choice between so many great guitars by tirelessly bringing me ones to try. His patience is admirable and his work ethic amazing. He is most definitely an asset to this company.

Yal need to stop being such babies and pandering to China's knockoff products and prices and start to support local, before this Country is literally Chinas little used pamper, waiting on mother China to clean our ass for us. Grow up and support local. This place is fair and FREE

Kanata Location Takes Service To A New Level

I have been purchasing all of my guitars from Long & McQuade for many years now and every experience has been excellent. The pre and post purchase care is fantastic but the story of my most recent purchase needs to be told.

I have recently lost my spouse and have had a hard time enjoying life in general and music in particular.

I wanted to purchase a guitar, I hoped that it would give me the drive to return to my music. In discussing the situation with the manager at the store I normally deal with, (Kanata, Ontario location), they went above and beyond to help me. I now have a wonderful new guitar which I picked up yesterday and could not put down all evening.

The point, they cared about what I went through and genuinely wanted to help. Always amazing service but now they took it to a new level. Thank you.

Poor service

Poor service
My name is Thaddeus Mapula, I bought a Taylor GS Mini-e koa plus a year ago and had it set up before the warranty expires. I complained about the buzz when I play the D string. The associate told me that it could be the battery and he said that this is very common on Taylor guitars. I picked my guitar up one week later and found out that the buzz is still there so I called and said that I should bring the guitar back. The problem is I live 90+ km from the nearest L&M store and that is the L&M North. I spoke a supervisor and asked if they would compensate my travel since my original complain wasn't fixed. He said that the manager will call me but he never did. I purchased all of my instrument (Yamaha sax, Yamaha LL6, Takamini classical guitar and the GS Mini and not to mention countless accessories) in this store even though there is a local store that I can go to. I probably will buy 2 or 3 guitars in the next 2 -5 years and I know now where not to go.

Love L&M Burlington

My local shop (Burlington) has never done me wrong -- great advice and support, great selection etc. I've been shopping there for years. Their prices can be a little higher on some gear, but i) I'd rather support a Canadian company than Jeff Bezos and ii) they have great sales. They also have 0% financing months on various brands, huge Rocktober sales, and 0%financing during Monster Days (I think in June). But the best part is the staff -- knowledgeable, friendly, and no attitude. We bought our son a Talyor a few months back, and they sat him in the acoustic room and brought him guitar after guitar and explained the differences and let him play and compare for a couple of hours until he found the right one.

Excellent Service

I would like to compliment the staff at the Owen Sound store. Whether I am looking for something specific or only have the vaguest idea of what I want to do, the staff there are always friendly and, most importantly, knowledgeable. I have always received excellent service there since they opened. Thanks very much and I wish you much success in the future. Well done!
