My mother hired this company to…

My mother hired this company to insulate her attic. Recently she noticed the walls in her bedroom and ceiling were wet and there was black mould present. We called a plumber to check for leaks in the attic and he said there were none and that the chimney was sweating. It was literally wet to touch so we got a roofer out to check the chimney and roof and he also confirmed there were no leaks but the attic was sweating due to the fact there were no vents put in at the time the attic had spray foam insulation put in. A simple google search confirmed this for me. It is very important to install vents for ventilation in the attic when spraying foam insulation in the rafters of the attic. I contacted Lovinsulation and told them the problem we were having and that we had a plumber and roofer confirm there were no leaks and it was down to the attic sweating due to lack of ventilation. They denied responsibility for it insisting it must be a leak. The only way they would put in vents was if we paid for an engineer to come out and confirm what we already knew from the plumber and roofer, that there were no leaks. Due to my mum being elderly and suffering from asthma I felt like we couldn’t delay dealing with the damp and black mould in her bedroom any longer. Also we had already spent a lot of money at this stage. So we’ve hired someone else to install vents at a cost of €650 and we will have to spend more to fix the damage done to her bedroom. My advice would be do your homework about the need for ventilation if asking this company to install it for you.
