LTL Language School Reviews 

I attended a 2 week Mandarin course in Běijīng and had an extremely wonderful, educational, and memorable time. The program and communication were already perfectly organized before classes even began.

I couldn’t have imagined a better or more friendly teacher for the course than Lilia. Her teaching was of the highest quality, conveying not only linguistic knowledge but also cultural customs and interesting historical facts. At the same time, she made sure to involve every student and ensured that each individual was supported according to their needs.

I am committed to continuing to develop my Mandarin in the future, and if I ever have the opportunity to attend a language course in China again, I will certainly go to LTL Language School!

I attended the summer camps two summers in a row. First in Beijing for three weeks in 2024 and then in Tokyo for two weeks in 2025.

In Beijing the school was great, but the home stay we stayed at was very far more then an hour train ride every morning and afternoon. The host family also left a week into the three weeks leaving us with their elderly grandpa who didn’t speak any English. So we had to pay for our own dinners.

However compared to Beijing, Tokyo was a mess. First off our bedroom we stayed at was shared between me and my friend 16 and two other girls 12 & 14. We also were in the same appartement as two 16 years old boys in spite of the fact they told us before hand that we would be gender separated. The boys room had no AC so all the doors had to be left open leaving the 6 of us with pretty much no privacy. The bathroom in the room also had no door so the only door was to the toilet and shower. Then mid way through the trip we had to switch rooms last minute with no notice leading us to miss class. The classes were also a mess they were very big with around 7-15 people even though their website says the classes will be small. The teachers were also different every day we rarely had the same teacher twice leading to inconsistencies in our learning the classrooms were also changing every couple days. The activity’s after class were also not very well organized and they had. We were also told before hand that we would get a bus pass with a couple 100$ worth on it but we got a card with about 20$ and had to pay out of pocket for most transit. The organizers Eli Zhang and Sabatino were also irresponsible and were bad at answering questions we had or picking up the phone when needed including the morning we were told to switch rooms with no info.

Overall I definitely do not recommend the Tokyo summer camp. The Beijing one was okay but keep in mind your homestay might not be great.

I spent two weeks studying Chinese in Beihai, China. Both the organiser of the school and my teacher made me feel very welcome. I had one-to-one sessions. I learned a lot; my teacher was very patient and corrected my mispronunciations repeatedly. Apart from study time, the organiser of the school repeatedly offered fun events, which helped me meet more students and local people. The school's location is very convenient. The main station is within walking distance and there is a nice beach nearby. My host (in Beihai, accommodation is solely private) introduced me to new and delicious food every day. She also made me feel very welcome, even though I was there during Chinese New Year, which meant she had to make extra effort to take me to her hometown and introduce me to her family.

I was staying for 4 weeks at LTL Tokyo and really had a great time. Studying was fun. I had great teachers and Elli was organizing amazing side events to soak in Japanese culture. Definitely recommend!

I spent four weeks studying Mandarin at LTL Beijing, and it was honestly one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

From the start, the school felt welcoming and supportive. My teacher, Sara, was exceptional — patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my progress. She pushed me to improve while making every lesson enjoyable, and I could feel my confidence in speaking grow week by week.

What made the experience even more special were the school activities. Chinese-style karaoke nights, hotpot dinners, cultural tours, and group sightseeing created such a strong sense of community. I met so many wonderful people through these activities. The school also helped organise a day trip to the Great Wall — visiting in winter while snow was falling was absolutely magical and something I’ll never forget.

Choosing the homestay option was the best decision I could have made. My host family welcomed me so warmly and made me feel at home. They were always introducing me to new foods and recommending places to explore in the afternoons. They also spoke Chinese with me whenever possible, which helped me adjust to the sounds and rhythm of the language much faster. Being immersed in Chinese language outside of class made a huge difference in my progress.

If you are serious about learning Mandarin and truly immersing yourself in Chinese life, I cannot recommend LTL Beijing enough.

From my experience LTL is the best. The teachers and staff are friendly helpful and accommodating, and the activities are fun and interesting.

I had a great experience at LTL school in Beijing. I highly recommend my teacher Ellie, as she really helped me to improve my level of spoken Chinese. She shared a lot of interesting insights about the local culture and we had a really good time. I really learned a lot and feel more comfortable in speaking Chinese now.
Thanks to everyone from LTL in Bejing, also big thanks to Linda. I had a great time with all of you! Hope to see you again somewhere someday ❤️

Would highly recommend LTL! I had Alex as my teacher and she was fantastic - very engaging, friendly, and encouraging. The school also organised weekly activities like games with Chinese buddies and dinners. The classrooms were very clean and in a central location

I had a great experience at LTL in Beihai. Communication beforehand was good, with a video chat with Savannah to discuss expectations and do a level check. This was very helpful and allowed me to hit the ground running. Airport pickup was also smooth. Savannah was very helpful in my getting established in Beihai, as she helped me to rent a scooter and register with a police station. She also organized regular social events, which give a great opportunity to meet some local people and get some extra language practice.
I was also very happy with my teacher. She was very flexible and adaptable in terms of both timetable and approach to our classes. We had four hours of classes every day and she was very good company and patient throughout, giving good explanations and facilitating conversation, while pushing me to use newly learned vocabulary or structures.
I tried two homestays in Beihai. The first was fine, the two hosts were very friendly and the food great, but there was not so much space in my bedroom to work or study. After the first couple of days at the school, Savannah asked for feedback on the homestay. I said that it was fine and I was enjoying it, but was not overly comfortable for work and study. She then said that there were other options and took me to see my second homestay, which was very comfortable and more convenient for getting to work. The second homestay was a fantastic arrangement. There were three generations in the family, which gave a varied and interesting exposure to language. Everyone was very friendly, made me feel at home and talked with me. There was not much English spoken at home, so I got lots of practice and feel like a made a lot of progress outside of my classes thanks to the family.
Overall, I am very happy with my experience in Beihai and would very happily come again. I came with an HSK4 level and feel like I understood a lot and was able to participate in conversation and in daily life both at home, the school and outside.

The website is very organized. And so is the student portal. Very nice and helpful staff. And Kyle 선생님 is awesome!

Teachers like Tara Chen is dedicated and outstanding. Teacher student ratio at LTL Mandarin is 1:2 to 1:3 maximum insure intimate personal learning and understanding of Chinese words, phrases and paragraphs. Director of Studies Linda is personable and available to address students' concerns.

On the negative side LTL needs to change the carpet and insure that it is regularly steam-cleaned from students and teachers health standpoint. I am a physician who understands the value of cleanliness in everyone well-being.

I was with LTL in Chengde for 4 months from September to December.

I came to 承德 Chengde with basically no knowledge of the chinese language (only had a 2 weeks crash course before coming here) and I left Chengde speaking at an HSK 4 Level which is enough for daily conversations and a great foundation for the future learning chinese journey. Chengde is the perfect place to learn Chinese because first of all the Chinese language they speak today originates from around here so they speak the cleanest Chinese you will find in China (even some older generations). And secondly there are no foreigners in Chengde and the English level of the Chinese here is really bad - which is good for you because if you really want to see an improvement in your Chinese that's the best environment one could ask for!

I also lived in Shanghai and Beijing and other places in China after my time in chengde and I have to admit it is nowhere so easy to improve like in chengde. It's super easy to make friends, since you will be kinda treated like a star where ever you go. Everyone wants to talk to you (good for your learning) and wants to do something with you. So even for introverted shy people it will be great, if you can overcome certain social fears. People are super friendly and nice everywhere here. Haven't had one bad experience!

For LTL i can say that the host family is got assigned too was amazing! I could talk to their kids and the parents after and before school and we went out on weekends to do something together. I also didn't have a curfew or anything so If I decided to go to a bar to test my Chinese in a different setting it was totally fine. The LTL coordinator in Chengde alao had sooo many activities on hand and if you are ever bored she will have some could ideas ready immediately.

Living with an LTL host family is so beneficial for ur Chinese and your general experience of Chinese culture, especially since you're in a small Chinese city (still 350.000 people but for Chinese standards tiny). Don't be afraid to come here. There are bars, nightclub, sport clubs, a bunch of activities, traditional Chinese parks, sightseeing spots and so much more. It will be the best time!

The classes at LTL are very open for your criticize, if you dont like something just tell at the teacher and she/ he will change it up. Very easy and straight forward!

I really miss my time there, so everyone i am in north china I go to Chengde to visit my former host family for a few days 🥰

Teacher was instructive and patient

My name is Luca , I studied at LTL School in Tokyo from November last year.

I booked small group course as well as a home stay. I had mang amazing teachers that spanned the duration of the course and was well supervised.

Also I had very sister Miss Elli , She made sure I was comfortable in my homestay and bought me to a lot of local events , it was really fun and snowboarding is a great experience for me .

I definitely recommend LTL Tokyo Language School to anyone.

Studied with LTL during my one week educational leave (B2-C1 level) - again (it was the second time) very satisfied with the school and my teacher Alice.
Top organization of the classes, quick replies by the school staff before the classes started, and Alice proved (again) to be an excellent teacher - patient, knowledgeable and methodical. Thanks to her I made big progress.

Very professional organization, qualified teachers, flexible and accommodating- would recommend LTL anytime.
I went to their Beihai campus- really nice location a bit off the beaten track.

I really recommend LTL Beihai. Beihai is a beautiful city, nice weather, very warm people. The school is very well located.

I was there in August 2025 for 4 weeks and was absolute beginner. I had lessons in the afternoon, 2 teachers, one on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and one on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Since I was the only absolute beginner in August in this school, I had one-on-one lessons for the normal group price.
It was a great experience...and the teachers are very professional and structured.
Since I was alone I could asked on what I would like focus the most, so I asked the teachers to help me with correct pronunciation (teacher speaks, I repeat multiple times, teacher corrects me), this helped and motivated a lot und is much better, then learning with apps like Duolingo or similar. I also liked the texts in the books (book 1-1 we finished, book 1-2 we started)

the school offered also activities, unfortunately most of them during my lessons, but in some activities I participated instead of having the lessons, after I talked with the teacher, e.g. in the calligraphie exercise. there and during lunch time I also met and talked to some other students of the other courses.

All in all very good, only one negative point: 4 hours per day was a little too much for me, since I had to be focused all the time in the one-on-one lessons, on some days I was very tired because of that;-)
