best advent calendar ever

This was our second purchase from Luisa - first was one of her brilliant Matcha Easter Bunnies. As the advent calendar is for our daughter who is away at uni, we only have her report on the chocolate - but her comment is 'best advent calendar ever'

Luisa Chocolate Nottingham

An exceptional company with an exceptional range of products and ethos. This chocolate should be stocked in all quality retailers.
Superb.

Hidden gem

We visited this place on a whim today and were really happy we did! Luisa told us all about chocolate and how much time and care they put into every bar. We tasted some great flavours. Tiger nut is super creamy! And chocolate Latte is great for any coffee lover! Customer service was very personal and something you rarely see these days! It’s a true hidden gem, we loved it and can 100% recommend. Thank you so much for amazing experience

Really disappointed

Really disappointed. I love the idea of dairy and soya free and am onboard with the ethical considerations. However, communication is a letdown for this company. Ordered on the 7th July for a birthday on the 13th so paid extra for first class delivery. Hadn't arrived on the 12th so I chased them. They apologised because they didn't send them because of the warm weather. Fair enough but I didn't know what packaging or delivery they use. Nothing communicated to me about my order regardless. If you want to track the delivery, you have to download a third party app, no thanks!

If I was informed then I could have made alternative arrangements. Instead, radio silence. I then asked for a refund but they only refunded the chocolates, not the delivery. Really poor. This company needs to address its terrible communication.

Poor customer service

I don't know about the actual chocolates because poor customer service meant I never got to try them.

I emailed ahead of ordering to ask what flavours were in the seasonal box, which for some reason wasn't on the website, and whether the boxes can be customised - something that many artisan makers offer as a matter of course.

The reply was very quick but just said to look at the website. This information is not on the website and I had started my initial enquiry by saying that I had already been looking. I politely asked her to point me to the relevant part of the site, since I couldn't find it, and was told to phone instead. I am too unwell to use the phone, so I explained this and asked again for the answers by email. This should have been simple - just a list of flavours that you would expect to be on the website anyway and a very short yes or no about customisation. I received no further reply.

If anyone else is looking for top quality artisinal vegan chocolates where you *do* know what you're getting before you buy, and can select flavours too, then I would highly recommend Shokoladi Malvern (also bean to bar) or Pod and Briar.

Quality chocolate handmade with love!

Great chocolate , handmade by someone who is clearly knowledgeable, dedicated and passionate about chocolate! I attended the bean to bar workshop a couple of days ago with my daughter and we had a fantastic experience! I am not vegan myself but was very impressed by the quality of the chocolate. It may be a little more expensive than shop bought chocolate but thoroughly worth paying the extra for a quality product

Great chocolate makers

They make the chocolate in Nottingham from chocolate beans that are carefully sourced. They make delicious chocolate from them. The shop in Nottingham is worth a visit if you’re in the area. I got some free tastes of different chocolates.

Excellent chocolate

Excellent chocolate. Lovely experience visiting. We buy from them directly or get it at Selfridges. I really like the India single origin but it is all good. They have something for everyone. We visited in June 2022 but have purchased online many times.

A great place to learn more about chocolate. And Luisa works with farmers in Columbia through and initiative with the university from what I have heard and seen on social media.

Fantastic Chocolate Making Course

I did a Chocolate making course with Luisa earlier this year and it was amazing. I asked if I could learn how to tempa chocolate, which wasn't actually on the course. They set it up, taught me how to do and I had a go. Fantastic. Learning about their relationship with bean growers over the world and how they develop relationships and import beans right into Sneinton and then make amazing chocolate as great. I am a big fan - needless to say the chocolate I made did not last long.I need another visit to stock up. Thank you Luisa and the team - just fantastic

A great find

Absolutely gorgeous, this is chocolate as it’s meant to be; rich, flavourful and dangerously addictive! The shop is tucked away in the creative quarter (a treasure trove of independent traders). The shop is small but accessible and the welcome is friendly without being pushy. Luisa’s operates ethically without making the stock hugely expensive. It’s not greenwashed or superficially fair trade. So, guilt free chocolate? That tastes divine? Lovely stuff, highly recommended.
