Poor customer satisfcation and misleading advertising

Please not that the The UK International Consumer Centre (UKICC) is looking into the following situation. I purchased a pair of Luna Tabu 2.0 on the 8/11/24 for £91 including delivery to the UK. The Tabu's looked like a great idea to allow me to wear my Xero sandals in wet weather. On the Luna website, the information for the Luna Tabu 2.0 read: ""How better? The materials and quality have gone up, a more water-resistant outer nylon shell with an amazing inner shell made of a newly created Japanese fabric made from Washi Paper threads… making it extremely hydrophobic allowing the foot to feel dry and warm even when the booty is wet."

I wore the Tabu's when I needed to over the winter. This totalled to about 10 times, by which time I was getting wet socks. I contacted customer services in January 2025 and the response was that the Tabu's are not advertised as "waterproof" and that there is nothing they can do.

Whilst, tidying my draw, I came across the Tabu's and decided to write to Luna again to explain the waste of £91 and how disappointed I was. Here is conversation I had via email:

"Hi there,

I wrote to you a few months ago to say that the Luna Tabu that I purchased was letting in water (worn with Xero cloud sandals).

The response that I got was that they are hydrophobic.

I can't wear them, and I can't sell them without having to be dishonest- which I am not.

Therefore, would you consider refunding me so that my money is not wasted?

Thanks

Riyaz"

Hi Riyaz,

Thank you for reaching out!

Unfortunately we cannot refund for an order placed almost 1 year ago. We have a 30 day guarantee on our products, where you can wear the product for 30 days and still return for a full refund if you dislike the product.
Anything beyond or outside this timeline cannot be refunded.

On our product page, we do not claim the TABU to be "waterproof" Please see from our website:

"How better? The materials and quality have gone up, a more water-resistant outer nylon shell with an amazing inner shell made of a newly created Japanese fabric made from Washi Paper threads… making it extremely hydrophobic allowing the foot to feel dry and warm even when the booty is wet."

So you do not need to claim the TABU to be waterproof if you are trying to re-sell it. We do not even claim this. Unfortunately we cannot refund you for these booties.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions."

Hi Haley,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I did write in a number of months ago to let you know that I was getting water in the front of the Tabu's and I was told exactly what you said. I wanted something that kept my socks dry in mildly damp weather (not walking through puddles or anything) - for £57.00, that is what I expect.

I wouldn't try to sell anything that I would not want to buy myself, so I won't be selling these - I would feel like a con artist.

I can't find the original email I sent regarding my initial complaint- Please can you forward on the email to me so I can check how long after the purchase it was until I contacted you? I will leave a detailed review on your website with timelines etc.

Please can you let me know, do you publish all reviews, positive and negative on your website?

Thanks

Thanks Haley. Please can you also forward me the original receipt.

Just to confirm, when I submit my review that is not positive about the Tabus, it will definitely be shown on your website?

Thanks again

Hi Riyaz,

You can find all your purchase receipts in your account on our website. The top right hand corner of lunasandals.com has a person icon, which you can use to login and view all of your transactions!

We cannot guarantee the submission of your review. Our team usually approves reviews as long as they are for the correct product, and a verified purchase. If you browse our website, you will see some negative ones on there. For your personal review, I will not be able to track that or ensure it is published, as this is not up to me.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Haley

After using Xero sandals for many years, their customer satisfaction department is outstanding. The front lace (where it attaches to sole) of my xero z-trek sandals snapped after 10 months. I managed to sow it back together and I wrote to them only to tell them what happened. They wrote back to say they would send me a new pair from US to UK!!

Buyer Beware …

Today I received my purchase of a pair of black boots the size was too big.
I straight away made contact with the company by email. I wanted a return address so I could return the purchase back to get a refund.
I was told they would not grant me a refund.
Yet they state a full refund within 30 days of purchase no questions asked.
I am not at all happy so buyers beware they do not honour their refund.
