I had the most wonderful day today

I had the most wonderful day today, my daughter bought me a birthday pamper package. I had a marvellous massage with Samantha. Now, I have a monthly massage, but this was a whole new level. I floated out to go to lunch. Again, excellent service & such a pleasant waitress. Then came my facial. Again, a whole different level, & again, with Samantha. A blissful massage, including head, arms & hands. The whole day was wonderful. Thank you

Exceeded our expectations!

Went for a spa day with my daughter for my birthday. Was a little concerned as last years outing to a
different spa had been pretty awful….We had a great time. Swimming and in the jacuzzi , showers were ok and steam room and sauna were good. Towels were plentiful and not scratchy! The massages and facials were excellent and Sophia and Samantha could not have been better. Lazing on the beds after the treatments was truly relaxing. We then had a delicious cream tea in the hotel restaurant. Service was very good and the sandwiches were yummy. We couldn’t eat all the little cakes so took some home. All the staff were pleasant and helpful and we both said we will go back again

Went to Lythe Hill for my mum's 80th…

Went to Lythe Hill for my mum's 80th birthday. Was asked if we wanted a bath or shower .. opted for the big shower to find it was a disabled wet room.. should have changed but we wanted to get to the spa.. my mum can only go in jacuzzi and was so disappointed as it was freezing.. so no spa for us!!! Food we ordered was very greasy in the bar. Afternoon tea we had no milk with tea so ended up walking round the restaurant and bar numerous times to try and find the girl serving to get some (she was no where to be seen for ages!) To top it off I left my face cleanser in the bathroom. I called at least 15 times the next day and no answer from reception. Chose another extension to go through and left messages. I finally received an email back today saying no cleanser was found! I wouldn't mind but it wasn't cheap as I have a skin condition and can only use this one! Very disappointed in this hotel and housekeeping as 100% left in bathroom! Such a shame as I really thought I had picked a lovely hotel for my mum's 80th.

Dirty spa and chaos all around!

Me and my friend came here for a 1 night spa break thinking it would be a nice relaxing weekend away. The hotel is set in lovely grounds with a lake and water fountain. The bedroom inside was lovely so no complaints there. Complimentary water, tea and biscuits. Hand soap was empty and needed refilling. We arrived Saturday morning and had a foot ritual at the spa. The greeting there wasn't overly helpful. The foot ritual was nice and relaxing however. Then decided to use the pool and whirlpool. The water was freezing so this wasn't relaxing so we got out. Went outside and did some sunbathing on the spa terrace as it was lovely and hot outside. Went to go back in the pool and a child had been swimming around annoying all the adults and then threw up in the pool so we weren't allowed in. Not sure why young kids would be allowed in this area as its not tranquil having kids screaming and splashing you. The showers don't work and the whole spa is in need of some TLC. The showers that do work are disgusting and just filthy (see pics attached). I didn’t see a cleaner in the spa the whole weekend which is unusual with the number of guests.

Afternoon tea came as part of the package but due to a leak in the main restaurant service was poor. 1 staff member doing everything and didn't speak great English. We'd said 1 person was gluten free and dairy when booking well in advance and was told that wouldn't be a problem. When we sat down, they said oh you can't have afternoon tea as we can't accommodate that. She had GF only so had minimal food to eat. My friend stated what sandwiches she could eat and was still given the ones she couldn’t eat. Also gave her no cakes and an extra scone to make up for the cakes. Was told she could have vegan clotted cream but what was served was a small Flora packet! This is not cream!! There was a wedding going on today too and I feel so bad for the bride and groom and their guests because they couldn't even get a drink as the bar was closed. I managed to find a bar, but they didn't have anything stocked so the barmaid had to keep going to the cellar just for lemonade. Then asked for crisps and again she said oh I’ll have to go to the cellar. By this point I just wanted to leave so told her to forget the crisps.

Breakfast had to be held in the pizza restaurant due to the leak in the main restaurant. This was a shambles and no staff. Dirty plates and cutlery were stacked up high in the kitchen area which was visible to guests. Tables were covered in plates and mess as no staff clearing up. Everyone had to keep asking for plates, cutlery and glasses and let them know when food needed replenishing. Plates and cutlery etc were being cleaned one by one as requested in front of us. Bread was frozen just a normal loaf so ok if you wanted toast but just bread and butter forget it! Again, no table service to order drinks. I understand the leak was outside of the staff’s control, but the hotel should have a contingency plan in place when unfortunate events like this occur.

Had to pay on arrival which we did but now the manager is nowhere to be seen on checkout to
complain. Went back to reception a few hours after checkout around 1pm to see if the manager was around but reception was unmanned, and no staff present for 10 minutes and no bell to ring for someone so left.

Could not speak to someone upon booking everything was done via email as they don't have the staff to deal with customers and response times were slow. Couldn’t book a spa break package had to book the spa and then the hotel separately which made life difficult.

I would not recommend coming here. Service was appalling and everything needs some TLC or repair. Staff are miserable and lack any customer service skills and they need more staff in general. I feel like 2 out of 5 stars is generous for this break!
