👨👩👦👦Who are we? David Robb MacDonald was born in Dundee, Scotland in 1911 and opened his first shop on Logie Street, Lochee in 1935. In a short time, David realised that there was a thriving demand for meat among the residents of Dundee and decided to move into a bigger shop on the High Street of Lochee. A few years later, and after relocating the business twice, the MacDonald & Son name is still just as popular as it was over 80 years ago.
During this time, David’s son Brian joined the business and learned the trade. Brian took over the business fully at the age of 20 and has built one of Dundee’s oldest and respected family businesses. Over the past 55 years under Brian, the MacDonald & Son name has become renowned for the quality of its meat. To this day it continues to produce the same products that have been enjoyed by generations.
🍖Our Produce We pride ourselves on the quality and consistency of our products. Our aim is to provide our customers with quality sourced meat and to offer great tasting Scottish produce.
All of our red meat is sourced from farms in Aberdeenshire or the Scottish Highlands. The cattle are grass fed all year round and are 30 day aged.
🥩What makes our steaks different? The farmers we buy our cattle from graze the stock in fields next to the North Sea. Salt from the sea gets into the earth and thus into the cattle. This produces a excellent flavour in all our steaks.
🚚How are the boxes delivered? All our customers goods are vac packed and sent in a chilled box. The goods are then sent overnight using DPD which means it arrives to our customers doors cool and fresh.
We send boxes all over the UK and our customers have the convenience of choosing a specific delivery day that suits them best.
On the day of delivery, our customers receive and email and text notification giving them a 1 hour delivery window.

The only reason I didn’t give you 5 stars was because the box was tipped up by the courier, making the gravy spill out of the pies and making the pastry soggy. The pie still tasted ok but could you not sell the pies deconstructed with the meat and pastry packed separately? Don’t get me wrong, the pie we had was delicious and I will certainly order from you in the future. Everything I ordered was delicious

A taste of home.
As i live in England,(I'm Scottish)it's very hard to get anything remotely that taste's as good as what you provide, I've thoroughly enjoyed it ALL, and I'll certainly be ordering more 😋.
One slight problem tho, when i put my order in, i didn't get my tattie scones, i was sooo looking forward to them, maybe next time 😉.

More salt than the biggest bag of salty things...
Last time I checked I have been Scottish for the last 63 years, like many I have been brought up to enjoy square sausage which has always been part of the day to day staple diet.
Been in England for the last 20 years and given you cant find square sausage for love n money I decided to venture online and discovered the MacDonald website from which I ordered the Aberdeen Angus Steak Square....
Sadly from the moment they hit the pan I new I was in trouble, the fat poured out of them so much so they were doing breast stoke around the pan, once cooked and drained and in a roll also bought from MacDonalds I sat plucking up the courage to take a bite.......Mother of God they were so salty I had to stick my gob under the tap to get water....I decided to share my suffering the next day with the folk at work and the reactions was the same, everyone spent the rest of the day gagging for water....

Ordering was easy online. Delivery was quick. All still cold and fresh, travelled 5 hours! Really happy with the food, taste was great! Especially the snowballs 👌🏴👍 happy wee note on the box was great too! Happily order again 😊

Absolutely Incredible
Just received my first order today and am beyond delighted with it. Well packed, nice and cold, delivered on time with updates too. Loved the little note on the box and really felt like I was supporting a small business. Great little personal touch.
I’ve not tried everything yet, I’m going to savour each thing. I can tell you though that the scotch pies are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The meat was dense but creamy and smooth and absolutely delicious with just the perfect amount of spice. Clean plates all round tonight and very happy bellies. So fresh and decadent. The pastry was a delight too, melt in your mouth.
For pudding tonight I had a snowball and I cried happy tears they were that good. Reminded me of my childhood. Exactly how I remembered them and again they melted in your mouth! I can’t wait to try the rest of the selection I brought. I’m so thrilled to have found you through your ad on Facebook. Will be a repeat customer for sure!

I can't recommend this butchers highly enough ..amazing customer service ..I ordered the medium breakfast pack along with some other bits before Easter...I was phoned by the butcher to explain there was a problem with my delivery ..they were so apologetic even though it was clearly not the butchers fault..and they still offered to add some extras for the inconvenience. Well received my order today.Absolutely amazing best breakfast I've had in a long time. Haggis,black pudding,lorne sausage...Wow ...wow.wow .I will definitely be ordering again top quality 👌 👏 👍

Burns Night Supper - Perfect from Start to Finish!
Apologies for the late review for our Burns Night Supper delivery, but thank you for the amazing haggis bits and pieces (as well as some Scotch pies and bridies for my parents who grew up on them). My English guests thought it was all very tasty! The ordering process was easy and even amending the order and speaking to a real person was simple. Thank you also for the cooking tips! The order was delivered as requested and perfectly packed. Just perfect from start to finish!

A very happy customer...
I made my order online and it arrived this afternoon 09/03/2024 as per the message received from DPD.
My items were extremely well packed and the chiller bags were still frozen so everything inside was still very cool.
A lot of it has gone into the freezer but the Pork & Black Pudding sausages are now in the air fryer with the Scotch buns waiting for them.
I would highly recommend MacDonald & Son, Butchers, the website is very easy to follow and very detailed and can I say that I just loved the little note written on the box " Enjoy Peter "...

Mouthwatering fayre.
From looking at the website of MacDonald & Son Butchers it was plain sailing throughout the ordering process,choosing which items I wanted couldn’t be easier. The date for delivery was my choice not the butchers which again is a huge bonus to online shopping from anywhere.Received the items excellently packaged with great care and professionalism.
