Macrium will save you hours of work.
You've probably heard that if you have never tested your backup, then you don't have one.
For the third time now an MS update crippled my PC (the latest was the Feb 10, 2026)
And for the third time Macrium reflect brought my system back from catastrophe.
I have been a subscriber for a few years, and while never actually "testing" a backup, the three times I've needed to use it have been flawless.
I have accidentally deleted an important file. All I needed to do was use Macrium to get the file from a differential and restore it to the current session.
Take the time to set it up right with scheduling, rules, and a Rescue USB and you will NOT regret it.

The email servers take ages to send stuff.

Stupid Activate email is confusing 2 links..
Just put activate account link

Tried contacting company to get support. Need account to proceed.
You need to overhaul your email server capacity
Wasted 20 min trying to set account up.

Macrium Reflect: Technically Capable but Hindered by Complexity, Licensing Changes and Poor Support
The Software Itself
Macrium Reflect is undeniably powerful backup software. It offers comprehensive imaging capabilities and, once configured correctly, performs its core function reliably. However, getting to that point is another matter entirely.
The interface is complicated and far from intuitive. Navigation feels cluttered, and even routine tasks require users to wade through technical terminology and nested menus. This is software built by engineers for engineers, and it shows. Macrium feels very much like a technology-led company rather than a customer-led one. The result is a product that is technically competent but demands a technical mindset to operate effectively. For average users simply wanting to protect their data, the learning curve is unnecessarily steep. This lack of customer centricity extends beyond the software itself and permeates the entire experience of dealing with the company.
Licensing: A Betrayal of Trust
When I purchased Macrium Reflect, I believed I was buying a perpetual licence. What I actually received, it seems, was a temporary arrangement that would later be dismantled through rebranding and a shift to subscription pricing. By changing the product name and restructuring the licensing model, Macrium has effectively invalidated what many customers understood to be lifetime purchases.
The subscription fees themselves are difficult to justify. Even the "discounted" rates offered to existing customers feel disproportionate for software that is not substantially evolving with major new features. If a company wishes to move away from perpetual licensing, it should apply that change to new customers only. Those of us who paid for what we believed was ongoing access should have had our agreements honoured. Instead, loyal customers have been treated as a revenue stream to be squeezed.
Support: Adding Insult to Injury
My recent experience with Macrium's support team cemented my decision to look elsewhere. I contacted them to ask how I should migrate my licence to a new PC I was planning to set up in a few weeks. Rather than answering my question, they immediately deactivated the licence on my current machine, leaving me unable to perform a final backup before the transition.
When I explained that they had misread my request and caused unnecessary hassle, my complaint was ignored. The ticket was simply closed without acknowledgement or apology.
Conclusion
Macrium Reflect demonstrates what happens when technical excellence is not matched by customer focus. Between the unintuitive interface, the licensing changes that feel like a breach of faith, and support that borders on dismissive, I am now actively seeking alternatives. A powerful tool means little if the company behind it has lost sight of the people using it.
Program works well but its expensive…
Program works well but its expensive and cant be run with out an annual sub!
I am not following a subscription model
Offering this software only as a subscription is a slap in the face of customers. When spending money, I want to buy, not to spend money only for the service without getting a real value for the money back. Therefore, I stay with the old version 8 until there is a version that I can buy.
If can give them a zero mark
If can give them a zero mark. They worth zero mark. Download it from their official website. Try to use for ten mins, it keep pop up 30days will expire. Then i just uninstall it. After uninstall it. Whole window 11 crashed. Wtf
Perpetual my A---
October 2021, I buy a perpetual licence. December 2025 it is no longer supported. So it is perpetual until it is not. Buy an annual subscription with 50% off for life, but every year we will increase the price and in a few years time you will be paying 100% of the current price. Great - I am going with EaseUS ToDo Backup. Goodby Macrium.

Terrible and argumentative customer support.
Decent product, absolutely terrible customer support. Cancelled subscription because of it, deleted from my PC, and have advised my clients to think twice about using this product.

Big no to annual subscription
Macrium reflect is to me the best backup software. Nevertheless, I do not appreciate the annual subscription policy. Therefore, I will look somewhere else.
Watch the licensing change !
While Macrium has the reputation as a top notch backup software , it is, however its new licensing structure has something left to be desired and I am not the only one who feels this way .
I have been an owner of Macrium software and it's perpetual licenses since it's inception.
With the release of version 10 Macrium has decided to forego it's perpetual license with it's new subscription based service which is a rip off.
1. Subscribers should not have to pay for program fixes, fixes are the responsibility of the developer not it's customers
2. In the past year, other than program fixes there have been no GUI or added features to the software so a subscription is not warranted.
Don't get me wrong, Macrium is good backup software and has yet to fail me , but due to it's new licensing structure I am now thinking of changing backup software due to no perpetual license structure option and because the price of what they charge for a yearly subscription is totally not warranted and over priced, even at the reduced price offered for existing customers. If you're not developing or offering new features you shouldn't be charging me like you are. If you wanted to forego the perpetual licensing it should have only applied to new customers, all previous perpetual licenses should have been honored going forward.
Macrium is a perfect example of what happens when good software developers get greedy.

Simple recovery is the best thing about it
This backup software is excellent and I install it on all of my clients machines.
Customer service excellent
Customer service excellent. Alex G. was helpful and patience. The product itself is excellent and it is used frequently.
The Software? 5 Stars. Licensing? 1 star
The Software? 5 Stars The Licensing? 0 Stars
First off, Macrium Reflect is fantastic software. It does what it claims to do very well. I would recommend the software itself.
However, the licensing is a major PITA to get working. Had to contact support so they could help me use the MAC address of one of the actual NIC in the system to keep the licensing working.
The Software? 5 Stars The Licensing/Support? 0 Stars
First off, Macrium Reflect is fantastic software. It does what it claims to do very well. I would recommend the software itself.
However, the licensing and support are complete garbage. I made the mistake of actually buying a key, but it doesn't work, can't use the software, and can't seem to get much help.
The licensing is so bad that I'm not going to even bother messing with it any longer, I'm just going to return and get my money back.

Backups run fast
Backups run fast. I have a PC, a laptop and about 8 VMs that have loaded with different configurations to test apps that I create and products I use.
Very happy so far. Very impressed.
Major Product Flaw and Unhelpful Support (Addressed)
Although the Macrium Reflect product has a combination of features that are hard to find in other products around, I recently encountered a major issue with it:
- I have a full backup #0 and increments #1-#6.
- Verification of the chain from #0 to #5 is successful.
- Verification of increment #6 is successful.
- Verification of the chain #0 to #6 is failing - and I can't mount a whole drive in the backup later in the chain.
Given that when you do an increment, the included verification covers only the last increment and not the whole chain, this means that Macrium Reflect's per-increment verification isn't capable of reliably identifying corruption of an increment even if it happened right there when the backup was produced.
I tried to bring this issue to the attention of the customer support, but even after dozens of emails with them they haven't even acknowledged the trouble and were just going through the script of pushing on my hardward being the trouble (which is totally irrelevant to the incapability of Reflect to highlight a corruption on an increment it just produced).
When I provided to the support proofs that my hardware was unlikely to be the culprit of the backup corruption happening in the first place, the support just became unresponsive.
The only benefit of subscription based software is the included premium support that's always there when you get a trouble - and with the customer support like this there's no point in the subscription model at all.
The customer support case is 290464.
----
Update: the customer support replied in the end and agreed to pass the issue to the development team. I'll see if anything comes out of it in the end.
---
Another update: the support acknowledged that it's a bug in the software and a fix to it was just released - the aforementioned backup chain now can mount drives normally and the verification passes successfully. Increasing the review score to 4 as a result.

Worst software ever…
If you want the worst possible experience and the most infuriating results, just try to use this world’s worst product: Macrium Reflect. Nothing about this software works as advertised. From confusing errors like “insufficient disk space” on perfectly clean drives to cryptic messages that leave you clueless, it’s a total nightmare.
I’ve wasted hours troubleshooting issues that should never exist with software this critical. Meanwhile, my Mac software — the real reliable stuff — works flawlessly every single time without drama.
Save yourself the headache and skip Macrium Reflect. You’ll thank me later.

nice tool. Never thought I'd say that an excellent option for imaging can be performed inside of Windows.
