Staffing Agencies — Use Extreme Caution Before Working With This Facility

Our experience as a healthcare staffing agency working with Mad River Community Hospital has been extremely concerning.
We provided a qualified healthcare professional to this facility and fulfilled our contractual responsibilities. Most importantly, we paid our healthcare professional for the hours worked, regardless of whether the hospital paid us. However, we have experienced prolonged delays in receiving payment for services that were already provided.
As of September 30, 2026, our records reflect $33,529.25 in outstanding invoices. Some of these invoices have remained unpaid for an extended period despite repeated follow-ups.
What has been most troubling is not simply the outstanding balance, but the lack of meaningful communication and accountability. We have sent numerous emails, made telephone calls, escalated the matter, and repeatedly asked for a clear payment timeline. Obtaining even a substantive response has been extremely difficult.
Small staffing agencies cannot operate as an interest-free source of financing for healthcare facilities. We must fund payroll, payroll taxes, workers' compensation, credentialing, insurance, and other expenses while waiting to be reimbursed for services already rendered. Carrying more than $33,000 in unpaid invoices can create significant financial strain for a small business.
We even offered to pay for FedEx ourselves to pick up a check in an effort to resolve the situation.
Based on our company's documented experience, I strongly caution other healthcare staffing agencies to carefully evaluate the financial risk before agreeing to provide clinicians to this facility. Be prepared for the possibility of carrying substantial payroll while waiting for payment.
We fulfilled our obligations. We provided the healthcare professional. We paid the healthcare professional. We should not have to spend months chasing payment and basic communication for services already provided.
Our company has documentation supporting this experience, including invoices and correspondence.
