Breach of contract, defective work, and site abandonment

​I paid Bradley / Makedi Homes Ltd £5,501.89 for a bathroom renovation under a signed contract. He abandoned the site mid-project, leaving the scope completely unfinished and unusable.
​Key Issues:
​Defective & Concealed Work: Plasterboarded directly over a damaged ceiling to cover uninspected plumbing rather than removing it as quoted.
​Unfinished Electrics & Plumbing: Bare, untested wiring was left behind walls alongside incomplete plumbing connections.
​Site Abandonment: Ceased communication and exited the project, forcing us to incur £908 in temporary accommodation costs.
​He refused to refund or rectify the works. Checkatrade has since removed Makedi Homes Ltd from their platform, and we are now recovering our losses through the UK Small Claims Court (HMCTS Money Claim Online). Avoid.
