If I could give -20 review I would

If I could give -20 review I would. Company is a nightmare to deal with. 7 months still no sofa. Delivery company only reached out after credit card gave provisional refund. Delivery company could not schedule a preplanned delivery and attempted to schedule day of actual delivery expecting me to take suddenly a half day off work. Now I’m moving cross country without sofa. manhattan design is attempting to charge me further $220 for a new delivery when I already got provisional refund. Zero customer service help but harassing company if you refund due to inability to be given product in appropriate amount of time. Worst company ever. Avoid at all costs. I’m still fighting with them over a sofa…. That I never got. 7 months later

I have never had such a horrible…

I have never had such a horrible experience with a company. I purchased this marble table because it was significantly cheaper than other similar marble tables online however I greatly regret it. When I received the table, I noticed how shitty the quality was so I requested to return it. From the very beginning, the order did not ship so I followed up with them after 3 to 4 weeks and it did not arrive to me until nearly 2 months after I ordered it. When I requested to return it, similar situation where I had to follow up multiple times to return. They provided a return address that UPS could not ship to because they listed several towers of condos. I was finally able to get the correct address after many back-and-forth emails with MHD. Several weeks after I returned it, I never heard from the company so I again had to follow up several times via email. They then stated that the table was chipped during shipment and they requested that I file a claim with FedEx. They stated that once I did that, they would refund me. However, when I did file the claim and emailed MHD to let them know that I had, they stated that FedEx would be the one to refund me. I am having issues with this claim and it is being denied. The table was $1000 plus I paid $186 to ship it back to ensure it for the full value of the table. Manhattan home design is a scam company and I would never recommend ordering a single thing from this company to anyone. I am out of nearly $1200 and have nothing to show for it.

Absolutely terrible service and business practices

Ordered a marble block table from them in July, was told initially when i called it would be 2-3 weeks, but after i ordered they confirmed it would be 11 weeks. Zero communication, five months later, not a word, and they say "maybe March"...some eight months after I ordered. This was after I called, they never emailed at all to let me know what is happening. The agent told me "oh, you cant cancel..its a custom order (meaning they dont actually stock these, they just order). They put the blame on Donald Trump and tariffs, but me waiting 8 months for a table I can buy locally this afternoon for the same price because they worry they will have to pay a tariff is not acceptable. worse, they cant be bothered to let the customer know.

This is not how to do business, customer communications are awful and they have no real concern over fact i sit in limbo six months wondering what is happening only to learn that nothing is happening.

Go elsewhere. Now that I research them I see this is a constant pattern for them.

We’re sorry for the frustration this experience has caused and want to clarify a few important points for anyone reading.

This marble plinth coffee table was a made-to-order item, ordered on July 31, 2025. Our made-to-order timelines, policies, and the fact that cancellations are not permitted once production begins are clearly stated on our website and in the order confirmation. While an early phone estimate referenced a shorter window, the written confirmation provided after purchase reflected the correct extended production timeline, which is standard for custom stone pieces.

Returns are offered after delivery if a customer does not like the product. They are not intended as a substitute for canceling a custom order already in production, which is why that request could not be accommodated.

Regarding delays: due to industry-wide tariff changes and resulting production shifts, this order experienced an unexpected extension. While external factors did affect timing, we acknowledge that our communication should have been more proactive, and we regret that you felt left in the dark. That feedback is fair and taken seriously.

As of now, the table has completed production and is on the ocean, with delivery expected by early April. This is not a case of “nothing happening,” but rather a long and unfortunately disrupted production cycle for a custom stone piece.

We understand the disappointment, and we stand behind both our product and our policies. Custom furniture requires longer lead times, but it also results in a piece made specifically for the customer, not an off-the-shelf item.

We appreciate the feedback and are actively improving our communication processes so customers are better informed throughout the production timeline.

Atrocious Customer Service

This review is based solely on customer service, as I still have not received my full order.

I placed a sofa order in June for a 3-seater (made to order) and a 2-seater (in stock). At the end of September, the 3-seater arrived, but it was immediately clear that what I received was essentially a 2-seater with an extra middle cushion added. The leather, wear, and overall appearance were noticeably mismatched.

In mid-October, I was told the 2-seater had arrived at their distribution facility and would ship within two weeks. Since then, I’ve reached out multiple times via phone, email, and their website. I have not received a single response in over two months.

As an interior designer, I fully understand that furniture lead times can be long. What’s unacceptable is the complete lack of communication. Calling their customer service only leads to an automated message instructing you to email and those emails go unanswered.

At this point, I’m incredibly frustrated and at my wits’ end. Reliable communication is the bare minimum, and this experience has been anything but.

I have personally audited our logs and must clarify the timeline of this order. Our records show that after our update on November 5th to your client, we received no communication via phone, email, or chat until December 9th.

Your review was posted on December 10th, just one business day after that inquiry. As our logs show, my team was extremely active immediately following that: we responded on December 11th (Sunday) and maintained a dialogue on the 12th, 13th, 16th, and 24th to coordinate the final delivery, which was successfully completed on December 26th.

Regarding the August delivery of the 3-seater, we received no reports of quality concerns during these active December conversations. I have reached out to you via email with these specific logs and the delivery confirmation. We hope that now the order is fully fulfilled, you will update your review to reflect the actual resolution.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

We ordered a Mario Bellini sofa in December. Unfortunately the sofa itself ripped in a few places, which was a huge bummer considering how $$$ they are. However, Manhattan Home Design has been AMAZING with their communication and making it right. They're sending us a new sofa, custom made, to make up for everything. The communication has been so easy, they're genuinely kind and caring about our concerns and stress. I don't know why they have bad reviews on their customer service because I have not had a single issue. I will continue to purchase other goods from MHD and will tell others to as well!

Terrible product and poor service

Before writing this review, I called and emailed customer service regarding the issues below, and was told I would have a response within 48-72 hours. The response was never received within 48-72 hours (weekend excluded), thus the reason for writing this review regarding the Arco lamp.

DO NOT BUY unless you want a piece of c**p from China!

1. The 100w bulb (not included) flickers continuously anywhere between the low and medium setting on the dimmer. I made sure that I purchased a dimmable bulb so it should not be flickering.

2. Manhattan Home Design uses words/text online to make it appear that this product is from Italy. It is not! It is 100% made in China

3. Purchased the black marble version. It is solid black and has zero white veins. The marble was sprayed in the factory with black paint that comes off all over your hands when assembling.

4. The hole in the middle of ours is raw marble and was not made semi-glossy like the rest of the base, so it looks terrible.

5. The four sections used to assemble the arc have two holes on the inner sleeve and only one hole on the outer sleeve. Instructions are very poor and don't say if both holes should be used or only one hole in each aluminum section. Additional small screws were provided without instructions stating if these are extra screws or if all screws need to be used for added strength.

6. Ours does not shine any round circles on our ceiling as shown in the pictures that were probably made by AI. This is something I was looking forward to, as it has a cool appearance on the ceiling.

7. Instructions are in English, but very poor! Extremely difficult to install the fixture based on the provided instructions !!

DO NOT BUY unless you want a piece of c**p from China with poor instructions!!

Zero Support

I purchased a reproduction Herman Miller Eames chair (no longer offered) and was delighted with the look and comfort. A year of use resulted in the chair becoming wobbly. The wobble got worse so I took the base off the chair. Inside the hole was a plastic bushing that had worn. I called and wrote to Manhattan Home Design and was told they would look into it. I offered to pay for the part but never got any response. Four years of wobbling made the chair tilt back far enough for the single screw that holds one side of the back of the chair to the base to break. I am rolling the whole mess out to the end of the driveway with a FREE sign and an explanation of what's wrong with it, It cost a fraction of the price of a real Herman Miller Eames chair but it seems it wasn't worth even that. I'm being generous with a second star because it is a good looking piece of furniture but not useful for its intended purpose.

Great customer support and warranty

I had a good experience with their customer support. I bought a Ducaroy Quayside 3 Seater Sofa Fabric with them in 2022. I had an issue with the fabric of the sofa with a bit less than a year, but they figured out a way to resolve my problem. Thought I should leave a positive testimonial for that.

A good experience

I don't see a lot of Manhattan Home Design reviews out there, so I will tell my story, a godd one. I've always had fascination for mid century modern furniture, but unfortunely original pieces may cost really expensive. But with Manhattan Home Design I had the oportunity of buying a Woodrow replica sofa this January. It turned out great for me. The replica is first quality. It was some delay in the delivery but customer service was always supportive. I hope all MCM enthusiasts have the same experience as me.

I had several experiences with Manhattan Home Design

I see that Manhattan Home Design reviews are hard to find, so I am telling my experience. I had several experiences with Manhattan Home Design, mostly positive. And this last one was positive, too. They had a Shell Chair knock off at a very good price in "Sale". The quality of the chair is undeniable, though delivery guys should make a better service next time.

Great Customer Service!

We ordered an Eames recliner from Manhattan Home Design. It arrived on time but was missing a part. The customer service folks couldn’t have been more courteous, understanding and professional. As soon as they received the part from the manufacturer it was immediately sent to us. They communicated with us throughout the entire process. Great customer service!

My chair fell apart a few months after buying it.
They do not help, or give any warranty support on their products.

I loved the idea of this chair. It looked beautiful in photos.
A few months into owning it the screws on the back started to loosen, but I foolishly thought that was normal.
Then the screws just failed and disconnected, leaving the back hanging half way connected.

I wrote Manhattan Home Design and let them know the issue. I explained I don't have parts, the tools, knowledge, or experience in repairing chairs. Such a fool I was assuming they would send a repair person to fix my chair.

Instead I got directed to YouTube videos on how to tear the cushions out.

It's been more than a month and my chair is still broken. Manhattan Home Design's customer support team is not responding to my (increasingly less friendly) emails and phone calls.

Please learn from my sad chair experience, and NEVER BUY FROM MANHATTAN HOME DESIGN.

Their Arco Lamp is totally different…

Their Arco Lamp is totally different than what they show you on the p-page.

1. Most importantly, the thinnest part of the arch stem is totally different. While the curvature is drastically inconsistent within the same arch rod, the half of the rod that is connected to the shade is (i) not curved, but merely straight flat — this ensures anyone can tell this is a knock-off—and (ii) the welding job is terribly done so much so that the color of the tip part is almost black. This is a true eyesore.

2. The first rod (the thickest one) does not fit in the marble. While the original one and the one in their p-page, the width depth ratio is like 1:2, this one is almost 1:1, which makes the rod-marble connection very loose and let the rod dangle. In sum, the rod is filling only a half of the carved-out groove in the marble whereas in their p-page photo it is fully filled.
3. The "marble" doesn't seem to be a marble. But this is understandable given the price.

A user friendly design company

These guys are real gems as their design was just the kind of one which I wanted. Their customer service is fast unlike other which are leggy in responding to queries. I am going for another design in a month or so and this time it will huge.

Good Job

I am very satisfied with this service. Very fast delivery, the costumer's service is outstanding and the price ratio is great. I purchased a chair that fits comfortably, looks awesome and it's from real leather. I am surprised at the quality of this product.
