worst hair dye ever

I have tried so many different hair brands over the years and manic panic IS the WORST one so far. I bought Ultra Violet because i wanted to go purple...Saw how it looks on bleached and virgin hair and liked both results. I had previously red dye so the worst thing i was expecting was pink ish purple which i was fine with...I dont know what happened but my hair turned 50 different shades of blue as well as green. I am never gonna buy hair dye from them ever again.

Hello, we are so sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your Manic Panic hair dye.

As described on the product page for Ultra Violet on our website, Ultra Violet is a blue-toned hair dye with subtle violet tones, so it is expected that the colour would appear more blue.

We are very sorry if that was not made clear enough; we have notified the necessary team. We would love to try and rectify this as best as we can with you; please email our customer service at sales@manic-panic.co.uk regarding your experience, and they will be able to take the appropriate action.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards,

Color or No Color is the Question. The answer. No.

I colored my boys hair and they are both blondes. One naturally platinum and the other a shade darker with a goldfish hue. I used the atomic turquoise. I put the color on both of their heads and was very annoyed to see their hair was almost the same. It was like it got toned instead of any color sticking. I am very upset and disappointed with the results. I'm glad I had Splat on hand. I was hoping for a semi-permanent color that would fade over washes. Which is what is advertised. But not what I got. I am disappointed because I have heard great things about Manic Panic. And they did not live up to the hype.

Ultra violet is not violet...;(

On the advice of a specialist store in Switzerland, I bought the ultra violet shade. I followed the instructions correctly, but now my hair is completely blue. I didn't want to look like a Smurf at all. I don't know how their pigments work, but I'm desperate and angry.

Terrible.

Well, I bought the manic panic after midnight something like two months ago. My dark hair didn't turn blue at all (not even a blue shade, that was what I expected since my hair are quite dark), but they turned green. The green didn't go away. Now is two months that my dark brown hair has this hideous greenish shade, and is really horrible to see under the light. I don't recommend at all this product, my hair are basically ruined and,I mean, my hair are 70 cm long so obviously I won't cut them and I don't want to colour them because is really bad for my hair. I tried manic panic because I wanted to have another colour, just to change a little, and my hair came out completely ruined.

Coloured my skin more than my hair

I used the manic panic after midnight dye and it stained my skin blue FOR AGES and it was a pain to get out, also the colour washed out from my hair in about a week and now it is back to brown.
I don't recommend this brand

The worst hair dye ever.

My daughter did research, she prepared
Presentation for me to convince me. Wish I did my own research.
The worst hair dye ever. It's stained everything. Her skin is blue/green she looked sick and bruised. Clothes, linen, everything she touched is stained and it is not easy to clean it. Avoid!!

Everything but the hair is purple now!

Initially thrilled with the colour (purple haze) - but we had expected it to remain on her hair!! Everything it touches turns purple even when it is completely dry. Clothes, bedding, furniture, etc.. Even our cream carpet is now purple from natural hair fall!! Her skin is purple - she looks like a purple Smurf. Can’t go out in the rain, use the spa or sit on furniture. It’s life changing. A few weeks later, and everything is purple except her hair - the purple has washed out leaving her hair green! The purple comes off hair easily but is extremely difficult to scrub off face, neck and ears.

an absolute nightmare

i bought vampire red and it came out a BEAUTIFUL colour but oh my lord i am never ever ever buying manic panic again. in a nutshell it washed out practically after the first wash ( after i gave myself a headache by using freezing water and used manic panic shampoo/conditioner for my second wash ) and stained EVERYTHING.And i mean everything. My neck was pink for weeks and i'd have to try desperately not to get the slightest drop of water on my hair or else it would flood pinky red everywhere. All my tops , pyjamas, pillow cases, bedsheets, my bathroom and a lot of my skin are stained now ( of course the pink will eventually come off of my skin but I wake up pink every single morning and i look like poppy from trolls after washing my hair , scrubbing this off myself has caused my skin to become extremely dry and cut, including my face). This was a lovely colour but definitely not worth all the hassle.

Very happy customer…

I rarely leave reviews unless they are bad but on this occasion I think this deserved a positive one. I have dyed my hair since I was a teenager and I’m now in my mid 40s. I have never bleached my hair but used semi permanent colours on top of my dark brown hair. I used another brand for many years until about 6 months ago when I came across Manic Panic. I have had red on the bottom half of my hair for about 10 years now and it’s very high maintenance as it fades so fast but since trying your Vampire Red, I'm never going back to the other brand. Not only is the colour stunning, even over dark hair but it lasts so much longer and my hair feels amazing! I’ve now bought the amplified version to try too. Very very happy and love your products 😍

Manic panic dyes - Avoid at all cost

Title: Manic panic semi permanent dyes

Further to Manic panic response. I am afraid your response does not help. Its not good enough to have the information regarding how long dye will last on Product page. This information should be on the product label, how many of us scour the product page fot such disclaimers ?!. Label says “semi- permanent” and that's misleading.
Additionally generalising statements from you pointing out that “ blue is one of the hardest to remove” is not helpful ( especially when I have not expected it to leave me with a green residue and I have sustained hair damage in the professional removal process as a result of the dyes permanent effects) , also it confirms that this product is Permanent.
Never again!

————-
If I could give a less than 1 star I would . I DO NOT recommend manic panic hair dyes. MP advertises dyes as semi permanent, but that is an incorrect slogan.
I used midnight blue , which despite using different techniques is refusing to wash out , has faded to a sea green but refusing to budge. Currently sitting in a salon, having my hair bleached and scared for health of my hair.

The hairdresser is trying to be as careful as possible, but blue that has faded to a sea green is staying put. I am disgusted.

Had I known this, I would never had let manic panic near my hair.

Manic panic your advertisement is misleading. Let customers know that your product/dye is permanent not semi permanent.

I wonder if consumers association has something to say about this ?!

Hello Sam,

We are very sorry to hear that this has happened to you after using the Manic Panic hair dyes, we appreciate that this must be very frustrating.

We can confirm that our hair dyes are semi-permanent, however, deeply pigmented tones such as After Midnight can create long-lasting results. This information is provided on the product page for this colour, described as 'Bolder for Longer' and that it can last for 6-8+ weeks.

Blue hair dye is notoriously difficult to remove, both semi-permanent and permanent, however, our colours will eventually fade as they do not contain any permanent ingredients or properties.

Again, we are very sorry that this has occurred. Our team would be more than happy to learn more about your experience using the Manic Panic hair dyes; you can contact our customer services at sales@manic-panic.co.uk.

We hope that we can help rectify this issue as best as we can and we apologise for any inconvenience.

Unlike Lisa Frank MP aged well

Manic Panic pixie dreams. Perfect all of your Lisa Frank looks. Whether for a special occasion or 24/7 this is the brand to trust. I have been dying my hair nearly exclusively with Manic Panic for roughly a decade. Tish and Snooky (the founders) have never stirred me wrong. Pigment and clear instructions. Build for everyone ranging from newbies to pros. I love them. Dying my hair as I type this.

It comes off everywhere

Sadly I like the colour. It’s easy to go on. It’s terrible to get it out of the pot as you have to scoop it out to put it on your hair like a hair conditioner but once it’s on it’s fine develops really nicely. It’s just a shame after 24 hours of putting it on it comes off everywhere it’s all over my clothes is all over my skin. It’s over my hands. It’s on my pillow. It doesn’t come off at all so now I have green everywhere, it’s just saying that you buy these and they don’t actually stay where they’re supposed to which is on your hair!
Sadly I am autistic so I follow the instructions to the letter. I did exactly what it said on the box. I even used cold water to set the colour like it told me to I have washed my hair nine times so far and every time I do the soap is completely green And so are my hands. I’m just going out in the rain because I can guarantee that I will be covered in green dye . I’m more concerned about the damage it is done to my sofa and my clothes as I can shave my hair off and start it again but I shouldn’t have to should I really?. i’ve never had this problem with dying my hair before dying my hair for years always bright colours but this is the first time I have actually used this product and I wouldn’t use it ever again. I have my daughter now telling me that there is something on TikTok which shows most people have the same issue that I do so it’s not a one off.

wouldn't buy again

I ordered the manic panic cotton candy semi-permanent hair dye and it did nothing to my hair apart from cling a little bit to some of the bits at the top of my hair - not normally the one to complain but was annoyed at spending my money on something that did nothing

Best dye ever!

My hair was in horrible condition after too much over processing. As a result no semi permanent dye would stick to my hair and I didnt want to risk more damage with a permanent dye. I was left with purple roots and a hollow grey green for the rest. I used Manic Panic in Infa Red and the result is gorgeous!. Shiny glossy vibrant colour . I was truly blown away. I've found my dream colour.x
