This pedal has a good level of firmness or spring that feels similar to that on a piano. My only criticism is that the rubber pad underneath does not grip well on vinyl or wooden floors. Although there's an ability to rotate the pad out and use your heel to anchor it, this doesn't work unless your pretty well standing in it too give it sufficient weight.

Got a Roland DP10 Damper Pedal to go with a Roland FP10 digital piano. Huge improvement over the stock footswitch. It allows half damping and feels much more like a real piano sustain pedal. The rubber pad stops it slipping away from your foot. It’s a bit harder to push down then the switch so might take some adjusting to for kids.
