Poor ability to plot a good route 80% of the time

Poor ability to plot a valid short route 80% of the time. Its data it is out of date. Thinks certain roads are one-way streets when they have not been for 10 years, so it will send you on a route 2 miles out of the way for no reason.
Map is too full of crap and the basics are wrong. AVOID unless you know which corrections are needed.

Google Maps

Google Maps is essential! It shows a clear digital map of all the roads across the world and keeps getting better with new updates. It has many features like Street View which I don't think is on any other app and Satelite mode. A lot of people have been complaining about the new updates and that it is getting worse and worse but these updates (at least in the UK) make it much more high quality. I have noticed in very small islands like the Canary Islands it is a bit worse for suggesting a route to you by using public transport but it is okay in most countries. I'm excited to see what the next update is!

It's got so bad I do not trust it

Google maps used to be good at directions. Now it gives completely the wrong advice while driving. So many times it's getting me to leave a motorway and then get straight back on, or in another case displaying a route that was twice as long as another perfectly valid route. It's becoming unusable.

Why the Motor Trade has a bad name because of people like this.

Following intensive and a sustained effort to locate a particular vehicle on the internet. A purchase was made on the strength of the description, both on the sellers website and Autotrader. The website claimed the vehicle a Ford Tourneo was in "A Star Condition"
The photos depicted a vehicle which appeared to fit this description. Alas, the vehicle was not the vehicle that was delivered, which was over a considerable distance away, on a Sunday at 10.00pm. The advert was clearly misleading and a misrepresentation of the vehicle delivered . It has doors which are misaligned and damage repair work has been carried out. These immediate findings were pointed out to the supplying garage, Pondover Motor Sales, Virginia Water, Surrey. GU25 4EG. Their representative, so far has not acted upon my request to collect the vehicle and refund the monies paid to them as per the Consumer Rights Act 2015. This request was made well within the time limits of the act. The vehicle is not fit for purpose and various authority's have been informed, namely Trading Standards, Action Fraud and the FCA. I hope this review will be of help to any potential and unwitting purchasers of a vehicle from this unscrupulous business

Google is selling out

Just because one crazy - but unfortunately very powerful - deranged narcissist demands that a body of water that has been called the Gulf of Mexico for ages be renamed in his attempt to "make America great again", Google bows down and obeys! Hopeless!!

Bowing to a Dictator

I think it is an absolute disgrace that one individual is permitted to decree a change to a locations name on a whim. Google Maps is a well known and (Was) respected for it's accuracy. No company no matter how big should bow down to this type of thing and i am disgusted.

Terrible

I am deeply disappointed with the recent changes to Google Maps, specifically the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America." This decision seems to be driven by political motives rather than accuracy or respect for geography. As a result, I've decided to delete Google Maps and switch to Apple Maps, which I find to be much more reliable and respectful of global geography.

Not Surprised By Their Service

My Google maps account was flagged as a spam account because I mistakenly posted the same negative review about a company called Amber Arch Ltd on my various Google maps accounts (the review wasn’t a mistake just to clear that up, the mistake was me posting it on more than one account, the same day) my 2 email accounts: one personal one and one for applying for jobs and anything work related which was obviously my mistake and I have contacted Google support well Google business support to try and rectify the problem and try and get my account back to order but it has been a total waste of my time, they don’t seem to know how to do anything and I have to keep on repeating to these people I am not a business account, they don’t have any way of being contacted directly except through Google business which doesn’t make sense so I have been reiterating I am not a business but just a regular reviewer on Google maps and again it has been a waste of time, a waste of my precious time, don’t waste time contacting these people, they are very good at posting a day in the life of working at Google instead of doing their jobs properly, if most of us posted videos on YouTube of a day in our life of where we work at we will probably get fired that same day (instead of working, you are recording yourself) but apparently not in Google, real shame!!!!

I have tried for months trying to get these individuals from Google to remove the spam from my account but they are extremely unprofessional and incompetent, they keep on talking about a silly robot that has flagged my account as spam so it can’t be undone, a robot is clearly more competent and powerful than them how sad!!!!

This is the Amber arch review I wrote for context and they are a terrible mystery shopper company and should be avoided at all cost: I regret applying to this company, I made a mistake because I didn’t read the full brief for the company i was mystery shopping for which was Essential but reasonable people will give you something for your effort but instead I got nothing, people should read reviews properly before applying for anything ie any company like this one (lesson i have learnt) so you don’t waste your time and effort and also money, I am not surprised though, the British are so freaking rigid (I am at my wits end with this country- dealing with their weather and their people- terrible combination), it’s either their way or the highway and the price fees of this sham and scam called Amber Arch are abysmal (a mere 10 pounds) that is if they do pay anything (any “company” can have a website- it doesn’t mean the company is legit), terrible company and uptight people!!!! What a terrible way the year has started out for me!!!! Rachel Hoare was the person i communicated with while I was unfortunately still with them and Grace Humble assigned the task to me (very sure she isn’t humble), I see a lot of responses from them in regards to their negative reviews (which they deserve) on trust pilot in which they are taking no accountability of their behaviour but instead they are arguing and being obnoxious. Don’t quit your day job for this sham and scam of a company!!!! They flagged my review twice on trust pilot because they couldn’t handle the truth (some other reviews have called them scammers and yet they didn’t flag them, extremely hypocritical). Telling the truth is harmful// illegal to these people!!!! Lack of accountability!!!! One other reason why no one should apply to these scammers!!!! 0 stars is what I am actually given!!!!

Google Maps screwed up badly yesterday

Google Maps is normally very good especially in providing up to date information whilst on the move. However, it has recently slipped up very badly regarding the A57 where it crosses the River Trent on the Lincolnshire - Nottinghamshire border at what is known as Dunham Bridge. The bridge was closed last week due to flooding on its access roads but re-opened last Friday, 12/1/24. Yesterday, I asked Google Maps for a route from near Skellingthorpe, Lincoln, to Bolsover, Derbyshire. I knew that Dunham Bridge was fully open again yet Google had it as still closed, 5 days after it re-opened, and wanted me to take a significant diversion via Newark. I ignored that diversion and headed for Dunham Bridge. All the way, Google Maps kept trying to divert me towards Newark. Even when I had the bridge in sight, and clearly open, it wanted me to do a U-turn!!! The bridge and road were very quiet, presumably because other drivers had followed Google Maps. When I mentioned all this to the staff in the toll booths, they said they had already been in contact with Google to inform them that the bridge had been open for 5 days. How long does it take Google to absorb such information about a critical trunk road? 4 hours later we returned and Google still wanted us to divert via Newark! Something seriously went wrong at Google and I hope it doesn't happen again.

On another point, why does Google, and other sat navs, seem incapable of correcting a route in a common sense way. Too often, it tries to take you back to the point where you didn't follow its instruction even if that means a massive detour rather than simply updating the route. Here is a classic example of how non-sensical it can get:

If I want to get from home to the above Dunham Bridge, I have a choice of three similar routes to reach the A57 and thence on to the bridge. Google usually sends me via the village of Doddington, via the A46 Lincoln bypass and the B1190, which joins the A57 just to the east of Drinsey Nook. If the A46 is busy, I sometimes take an alternative, shorter route through the village of Skellingthorpe and then follow the back road to join the A57 at the railway/canal bridge at Saxilby. I then continue west, along the A57 to Drinsey Nook. The distance, along the A57 from Saxilby to where the B1190 joins is approximately 2.5 km. What Google Maps has done to me is, that when I have reached the A57 at Saxilby via Skellingthorpe, it directs me back towards Lincoln to join the A46, follow it to the Doddington roundabout then take the B1190 through Doddington village to join the A57 near Drinsey Nook. I estimate this "detour" to be about 19 km. That is utterly absurd. How can a guidance system send you 19 km when, if you go the oppiste way, it is only 2.5 km? Google need to look at this. The use of algorithms which take you back to where you didn't follow the route and involve substsantial extra distance are clearly of little value and need to be reviewed.

It is clearly in Google's interest to provide accurate, up to date and common sense routes to its users but it didn't yesterday.
