Disappointing experience

This was our first time dining at a Michelin starred restaurant, and we came with high expectations for both the food and the service. Unfortunately, while the food was good, the service and overall experience fell far short of what we anticipated, especially given the price point of 5.000 kr.

Our main waiter was very friendly, but each of the six courses was served and presented by different staff members, resulting in an inconsistent and sometimes rushed experience. The most concerning incident occurred when my wife found a bug in her wine (we were seated indoors). We understand that such things can happen, but the way it was handled was surprising: the waitress poured the wine from the original glass into a new one right in front of us, then fished out the bug with a spoon and returned the glass, saying “there you go.”

Later, the same waitress served a dish to my wife by reaching over my shoulder, despite there being plenty of space, speaking over us rather than addressing us directly, and delivering a rushed presentation.

We had hoped for not only excellent food, but also a polished, attentive service and memorable experience. Unfortunately, the service left us feeling that the evening offered very little value for money.

Krug Champagne with almost no fizz

Being from Jutland and therefore naturally not one of the regular guest, I fully understand and acknowledge that special request can not be accommodated. The experience my family and I had today at the Marchal bar at the d'Angleterre just left for the main entrance call upon me sharing my experience from today at round 13:30 to 14:30.

Initially we intended to have lunch at the restaurant Marchal, but as my wife and daughter had not much hunger after brunch only I desired a 2 course lunch. We kindly asked weather it would be possible for me to have lunch and my wife & daughter to have “fastelavns bolle” pastry and coffee. I fully understand that we could not be seated in the reastaurant as they did not prefer to dine and I was also given the option to pick meals from a different bar menu as what was normally served in this bar toward Kgs. Nytorv.

Ordering 6 oyster and 1 oyster with caviar I found a glass of Krug Special Cuvée would be a nice paring. I must admit I was surprised to be served a flat (not much sparking) glas of Krug from a half empty bottle which must have been from the day before.

I very much enjoy champagne and also like to visit Baltazar for sharing a bottle of champagne when my visits to Copenhagen allows it.

I would strongly recommend that you advise you otherwise kind waiters, that if a class of champagne is pored into a class an if only very little bobbles raises in the glass, then the champagne in the bottle is simply too flat to be served for guests.

I very well understand, when asking for champagne by the class that a new bottle will not be opened. But from my own experience, when not more than half of a bottle of champagne have been drunk, you can easily keep the bottle for the next day when using a champagne bottle stopper/closure.

Excellent food and service

We had a delicious 3-course dinner at Marchal and were very satisfied with the service. We ordered a bottle of wine but when the waiter brought it we noticed the glasses weren't clean so we told the waiter. Turned out another couple had ordered the same wine and had a glass at the bar first and then, by mistake, their bottle and glasses were brought to us. Honest mistake but the waiter was so kind as to give us two glasses of champagne on the house. Surprising level of service! We will surely return soon.

Arrogant – rude staff on the ”floor” kitchen fine

The food is good and meets expectations, no doubt, What will spoil your evening, lunch or brunch is an arrogant restaurant boss Martin and the waiter team. They cater to their friends of the house and regulars, and completely ignore you, if they do not know you too well. Have been a few times, but must admit, we cannot recommend this place, the team in the bar and restaurant are amateurs. The food is good, but the poor performance from the restaurant boss is stressful.
