The location was very nice but rip off wine prices soured the entire experience.
The location was very nice and the water and seafront were beautiful. However, the entire trip was soured by the local hotel management overcharging massively for wine. On the first night before we calculated currency differences we were charged €20 per glass for very average wine. 2 glasses each so €80 !!. That really annoyed us. We discovered then that house wine could be bought for €10 a glass. This is a still a rip off. We are not tight but we hate when we are seen as a soft captured target. It has really changed our impression of Mark Warner holidays. We thought the food was generally very poor with no variety at breakfast and limited variety at dinner. Quality was average. Again, we felt local hotel management were cutting corners. This was our 4th Mark Warner holiday. The Mark Warner staff and management were all lovely and very helpful. Facilities were very good.
The reception staff were lazy
The reception staff were lazy, rude and could not have been less helpful. Numerous times we asked for their help or for information and they could not be bothered to help.
Good choice of activities and equipment…
Good choice of activities and equipment available all in one place, good food, very friendly staff, training available , good weather
Great hotel with beautiful grounds
Great hotel with beautiful grounds, large pool and private beach. Lovely food, helpful staff. We had a fantastic time sailing, windsurfing and playing tennis. We went in early October and the weather was perfect. Can definitely recommend the sunset cruise to Foca for dinner.
Great break but won’t rush back.
Resort is great most things there. Particularly liked choice of sun beds/loungers Spa is excellent, pickleball was great fun although bats could do with an upgrade. Huge pool, Flying yoga was a laugh and aqua in the pool very good. Sunset cruise to Foca was excellent and a real highlight. In fact Foca town is good only £5 by cab and lots going on.
Weather was great while we were there.
Negatives were - overall service was patchy generally it didn’t seem locals were keen on service roles, food was nice but the similar all week, tennis courts weren’t great and poorly positioned. Although we’re not sailors the water sports looked comprehensive. The resort doesn’t have much structure with organised events but there is stuff going on if you look for it.
We had a good break but we wouldn’t go back to that resort or Turkey based on that trip.
Paleros is a nice resort with good facilities
Paleros is a nice resort with good facilities. Very peaceful out of season. Rooms are lovely on the inside, not so much on the outside. Beautiful pools, but very cold at this time of year.
The food was ok , but often cold. The bars were good and priced reasonably. The biggest problem was the amount of flies.
We had a great time, but I don't think we'd go again.
We were told that 2 padel tennis courts…
We were told that 2 padel tennis courts were planned for the Paleros location for 2024 but when we arrived were told that the plans had been changed. No real information was forthcoming. Everything else as always was very well organised and great fun.
Lovely place lovely people but oh for a decent coffee
Lovely place lovely people. Always helpful.
Facilities really good. The waitresses were excellent, and Eleni and her team very good at getting us around the cycle routes, even though the legs were not always willing - on those hills.
BUT! Cafes and restaurants on the island do not use the tap water as the quality is so poor. Why can’t Kamari do the same. The coffee and tea are virtually undrinkable. There is no option anywhere in the resort to drink a ‘decent’ cup of tea or coffee.
A great holiday on Lemnos
We loved all the activities, food and social opportunities. Clean accommodation and friendly staff. Great customer service.
Good weather and friendly staff
Good weather and friendly staff. As always the equipment on the beach needs basic maintenance. Not enough harnesses or single kayaks. The hotel at Lemnos is not 5 star - lukewarm water and a shower with no pressure. Evening meal food would be kept warmer if served from inside. Saying that we plan to revisit!
A potentially great holiday ruined by late-night noise
I have already posted a detailed review on TripAdvisor, which I won’t repeat here. In a nutshell, this, my fourth windsurfing holiday at MW Phokaia, would have been been five-star, but was ruined by the late-night noise from the beach bars and the frankly pitiful management response to my own (and others‘) complaints about this in-resort.

Very friendly and well run resort with good selection of sports both on and off the water
It was a wonderful holiday in Kamari
It was a wonderful 2 week holiday in Kamari, Rhodes. I am a keen windsurfer and sailor and the waterfront instructors were excellent, so patient, kind and enthusiastic. Anaïs and Eric are both superb instructors, so motivated and enthusiastic. All the instructors were great, Molly, Holly, Harry Tom and Joey and the other instructors always enthusiastic. Justin is a gifted manager and superb motivator of the waterfront team. I loved the holiday and hope to return, Bridget
Nicest Mark Warner resort so far
We had a great time at Paleros resort in Greece. Everything was superb and having visited Mark Warner resorts in Corsica, Lemnos, Phokia (Turkey) and Kos we can say this has been our best experience. The food was particularly good.
Great activaties
I liked the staff, the good range of activities, the pool and the sea.
The food was plentiful, but daily the meat was overcooked, food dripped in fat from deep fried, food was bland and meat was chewy. It was packed in just did not feel relaxing or feel good. Rooms were ok and kept clean, but beds were much more uncomfortable than other hotels I have stayed in. Rooms were hot and stuffy without aircon, which unfortunately made me ill. Staff were absolutely fantastic and made the holiday. A shame that items like the restaurant made it feel like a cheap all inclusive hotel.
Some good points, but overall disappointing.
Firstly, I ought to say that our only other recent Mark Warner holiday was at the Paleros resort, so our thoughts and opinions on the Lemnos Village resort are bound to be coloured by our (very good) experiences there.
The resort location and surrounding area are lovely.
We had booked a "premium suite" and at the time of booking we were told that our room would overlook the tennis courts. Unfortunately we were in fact allocated a room near to the top of a hill. This wasn't in itself a problem but in light of other issues with the room we do wonder if the tennis court room would have been nicer.
The first issue we had was a serious leak from our shower. We only realised when I slipped and almost fell on a huge puddle on the bathroom floor. We mopped up as best we could and then found the puddle had also extended out into the hallway. We mentioned this incident that evening at reception but during the two-week stay nothing was done about it and each evening we had to use three hand towels to try to barricade the leaking water and dry up.
The next (and for us the most serious) incident was on the fifth night, when I awoke to find myself and the sheets covered with flying ants. They seemed to be emerging from behind the bed. I wasn't prepared to sleep there any more, so spent the rest of the night on the sofa bed. I sought out the manager the next morning but apart from offering some sympathy and asking the cleaners to do a thorough sweep she was unable to instigate any other remedial solutions. It was clear that the ants were getting in somewhere. Fortunately the ant situation was less severe on subsequent nights but there always seemed to be dead flying ants lying around.
The final issue was that we returned to our room one evening to find an enormous toad lying in the hallway. It was far too large to have squeezed under the door and neither of our doors were left open. As with the flying ants, it's clear that there is some damage or fault with the fabric of the building that allows these creatures to get in. There is no way that this should be described as a premium suite.
On a more positive note, the watersports equipment was in good condition and the windsurfing sails in particular were very good. My husband enjoyed attending several of Charlie's regatta training sessions. The area of sea next to the sailing area was great for snorkeling - it was full of colourful fish and it would be a good suggestion to make the most of this lovely natural resource.
The staff were generally very helpful and I must give a special mention to Damian and Vana at the bar, plus the bar manager who very kindly managed to procure a bottle of my favourite wine when they ran out. The food was good but there was no option to eat inside, so food was sometimes almost cold before we got back to our table.
We made some lovely friends during our stay and will miss some aspects of the Lemnos Village, but would not consider returning there.

TOP NOTCH
Leah and the team were excellent..A special mention to Gary & Luke on the cycling. Great blokes and a good laugh. I went on the holiday apprehensive as was travelling on my own. I Shouldn't of worried as met so many great people. I totally recommend this holiday. There is so many activities that you can't get bored. The problem is fitting it all in to one week!!!!!
Nice resort let down by poor kit
Just returned from a two week holiday at Phokaia Beach Resort. The hotel has been very nicely refurbished with nice bar and restaurant areas and a big pool. The food is excellent. The resort is very spacious and in nice location with a nearby town. Our main activities are windsurf, wakeboard and cycle. The cycling was fine. The wakeboard boat was old with an outboard and virtually no wake. The worst aspect by far was the tatty badly maintained windsurf kit. For most of the two weeks there were no sails between 4.5 and 5.4 and one between 5.5 and 7.5. For these reasons although the resort itself is very nice we will not be returning.
Lovely Lemnos
Fabulous week at Lemnos, great comfortable rooms with balcony and sea view. Amazing staff, especially Sue the manager and James and team at the beach. Great choice of food and helpful local waiters. We look forward to a return next year. Electric bikes would be helpful for those less fit please!
