Food was good but lids left open (maybe by Turkish) and so got cold...
Clean everywhere and good rooms.
Boats were very poor condition, lack of maintenance especially on catamarans. Left with jibs flapping at night..had to mend ourselves before sailing them as only 1 out of 4 availabile.
Beach staff said they were too busy to repair but we saw lack of enthusiasm and knowledge from them. Why only 1 tennis coach? Lack of fun games no wonder pickleball was so popular.
Evening entertainment good.
Fitness/yoga girls good.
Not good value for money any more.

Lovely resort

Lovely resort, comfortable air-conditioned accommodation, clean, lovely Greek English speaking staff & English staff, delicious food, beautiful surroundings. Disappointed in the quality of bike maintenance and lack of wind in the bay, but appreciate the latter is not down to MW. Even when the wind does blow in the afternoon the bay seems ideal for beginners and as an intermediate hoping to improve my technique, I left disappointed. I feel the beach could be cleaner as the sand contains quite a bit of debris. The pools are beautiful and the bay gorgeous to swim in. Thoroughly pleased with the experience. I did feel the price of €4.50 for a bottle of 250ml ice tea was high, ouch! Drank a lot of water. Thank you MW.

Everything and a bit more!

The reception was welcoming.
Room spacious and comfortable (family room).
Management, George Vervilus was excellent. Clearly experienced, people friendly, communicative, present and on the ball! Runs a tight ship! But to your credit. Nothing was too much trouble. His staff were well briefed in their areas. Relaxed and helpful. Food was lovely, entertainment was fun. Great family atmosphere.
The Terrace bar staff could do with a bit more help. Service early evening was very slow. Don't wish to be critical, but it was an issue.
Snack Bar options lovely but limited. Portions very generous though.
Breakfast was great.
Was not overly busy.
Sports equipment good.
My husband loved the cycling and bikes especially and have ignited his reason to return.
We had a relaxing, but active week.
Thank you all!

Brilliant holiday on the whole

We stayed for 7 nights at Kamari Beach, Rhodes.

The wide range of activities, great facilities, staff, catering, evening entertainment and the social aspect are second to none and these are what we keep coming back to MW holidays for.

Re evening entertainment, we particularly enjoyed the live bands, music quizzes and especially the social tennis night - so much fun.

The catering was incredible! So much choice, all beautifully presented and different food on the grill each night. It's half board at Kamari but a lovely Greek taverna adjoined to the hotel and also the snack bar meant we didn't go hungry.

The Waterfront team were top notch - they're experts and always patient and helpful.

Our room in the family annex had a few faults. There were ants in the shower, water kept coming up from the drain in the bathroom and our terrace was constantly flooded which I guess suggests a fault with the air-con, but we spent so little time in the room, we didn't complain.

We holidayed with our 2 daughters. Unfortunately our youngest child was on the receiving end of some very unkind behaviour from other children in the club, which seemingly went unnoticed by the nanny. It was resolved after we intervened but that should never have been allowed to happen. Also, the kids are happiest in the pool or the sea, so was surprised to see the majority of activities for them were land based and often card or board games that they might play at home. For example, Boggle, Monopoly, Jenga, Uno. They're there to try to new things and have a bit of an adventure, so that was a bit disappointing.

Otherwise we had a brilliant holiday and will recommend to others.

Overall very good experience - but no Spa relaxation

Excellent holiday with my 4 year old son. The pool area and hotel was brilliant. He enjoyed the few hours he was in club and the activities they played were well thought out and chilled so that i didn't feel guilty.

The food and staff in the general hotel area were lovely and the Mark Warner staff couldn't have been kinder or more welcoming. Particularly Niamh in the mini club, Ariana on the Waterfront. The staff work hard and long hours from what I've seen so deserve a lot of kudos.

My one star removal is the Spa area. Disappointingly I had reached out to the receptionist to book a massage and was told due to the time requested to email. I did so, got a confirmation email yes, that's fine for 15mins after you drop your son off at club.

Arrived at stated time and was aggressively accused of being late, and then told now you'll have less time for your massage.. there goes my relaxing Spa time. I was then barraged with the fact that the manager doesn't always tell the person or consult with them.. erm.. not my issue.. so i proved to this person that yes i had booked for the time I'd arrived.. and I'd arrived 5mins early too.. I was told if i paid cash i would be charged for a 50mins massage, not wanting to drag this out further I agreed.

Finally we got to the massage which was cut by 20mins and throughout it i was uncomfortable as it felt rushed. There was nothing under my legs so my knees were being pressed into the table constantly. After I was done, i was rushed out 3mins earlier than the so-called renewed time and told if i wanted to book further to go to this person direct. I was then emailed by the manager first offering 30mins free in the Spa area, or a 30min free massage from the same masseuse.. really? then i got another email telling me I'd already had a discount applied to the amount i paid.. which was a blatant lie as i'd seen the price list and both reception of the hotel and spa. What a terrible experience.. gone was the treat of feeling pampered and instead i was left feeling completely and utterly ripped off having paid 60 euro for the privilege of being stressed out and in pain.

Mark Warner should consider the type of individuals they have offering treatments in their hotel. Never would i use this service again and never would i recommend it.

I Kamari Beach Resort - Fabulous!!!

I don't often give feedback but I really wanted to this time as I have just had a fantastic week at the Kamari Beach Resort in Greece with my daughter and grandson. Three generations who had the best time.

I joined the Classic Tennis Course which was superb, I learnt so much all down to the fabulous coach Neil, we had a great group and had such a laugh. The whole tennis team were great. I joined in with the afternoon social tennis which was fun and well organised. I also entered the tournament which again was great fun and well run. I certainly wasn't the best player but the great thing was everyone was really friendly and welcoming.

My grandson age 6 loved the kids club and had a wonderful time making lots of friends and having lots of fun (really sorry can't remember the name of the leader but she was great)

The food and cocktails (we had a few of these!!!) were delicious. George Virillis is a fabulous Resort Manager who we spoke to as my daughter and I remembered him from your old San Ag Resort over 15 years ago.

We will definitely be back, thank you

Lemnos Village Hotel - great activity holiday but evening food could have been better

We stayed at Lemnos Village Hotel and having previously used Neilson previously it’s difficult not to compare. Overall we had a lovely holiday - the activities on offer with tennis, water sports and cycling will keep any sports nut busy for the whole week (my husband and son both waterski and the instruction was excellent!). Equally if you want to flop in the sun with a wonderful sea view and some epic sunsets you won’t be disappointed. Myrina town is lovely to visit with lots of pretty boutiques and restaurants. It’s a short (but hilly) cycle or a 10 EUR taxi ride away. It was less glossy and less structured than our previous Neilson holidays (Messini and Lemnos) and perhaps a bit more relaxed. It was also £1k cheaper for 3 people for a week at the end of August.

The kids club have a big variety of activities to keep all age groups busy, however the week we stayed (last week of summer hols) our 10 year old son struggled as it was only girls in his age group that attended (despite a mix signing up). They decided to merge with the age group above eventually but friendship bonds had already been made between the gang of boys and he never really settled with them despite being open and friendly (it’s not an issue we’ve had before). Guess it’s just luck of the draw but he was disappointed. Also at 10 they are able to sign themselves out when they please so there was often a group of tween kids unsupervised in the pool while their parents were down at the beach or doing activities, and there is no lifeguard present.

The breakfasts were good with plenty of variety. Lunch could be taken in “the taverna” which was the best food we had there (pizza, pasta, meze, burgers, salad etc) or the beach and pool bars did baguettes or toasties (but limited). The evening buffet was ok but the food was quite “saucy” - ie pasta already mixed in sauce and salads already mixed and dressed. I yearned for a plain salad bar with all the different salad vegetables with dressings on the side. I would also have liked to see a small “kids corner” for the children that too old for the 5pm kids tea.

Overall we had a good holiday. Would we go back? Yes for the activities and the location but I’d really like to see the evening food offer improved. I get that the kids club experience was just unlucky - although perhaps if they had kept the age 10-13 groups together rather than splitting further into 3 there would have been a bigger mix of kids from the outset.

Resort was great and as good as other Mark Warner sites. Food was good quality and hotel clean and staff super friendly. The Mark Warner staff were also very friendly and a good mix of activities. Freddie was excellent on the bikes but had his work cut out as the only staff rider. Only slight improvements could be better Wi-fi, better evening entertainment and possibly an extra Paddle court. At least the drinks prices were not as high as have been at other MW resorts in recent years.

Good food. Good beach side activities and staff.
Too hot. Bikes and tennis should be open earlier in the day to allow activity in the cooler hours.

Average resort with great activities

We stayed at Rhodes in Aug 2024z

Some things are fantastic - the childcare sessions were the best kids club we’ve experienced- real variety in activities. Loved the water sports and all the staff.good food.

The rooms were basic and run down (broken furniture, ants etc) which would be ok if we paid 2/3 star prices but certainly not worthy of the 4 star rating. Room not ready when we arrived at 7 so after a long days travel we had 10 mins to throw stuff in room and make welcome presentation. spa mixed up bookings and was not great.

Mixed bag experience.

The hotel setting is beautiful and beautifully kept, nice pool area, and beach area. There is a fun pontoon to swim out to and jump off. There are great ‘single bed’ sized loungers with lots of shade, great choice of food, brilliant nannies in childcare groups, great interconnecting rooms, range of sports facilities: boats, bikes, tennis, and yoga studio. There’s a nice hammam in the spa that we found on the last day!

All things considered though, you lose a day getting here and I just don’t think it’s worth it, for the price. Although it’s a nice place, there are so many things that I’d improve.

Rooms: No wifi. Poor water pressure - we had no water in the evening, a couple of nights, or had a freezing shower, or it came out as a scolding dribble. Beds are classic ‘doubles’ and unforgivably small by modern hotel standards. The twin rooms have one tiny wardrobe and no shelf space.

Chargables: Unacceptably expensive drinks, and ice creams which really spoils things. Ok there’s a happy hour with a small saving but it doesn’t help if you’d like a drink with meals.

Ambiance: MW feels like a sub-set within the larger Turkish resort. Other MW resorts have a charm and inclusivity that we appreciate and are prepared to pay the hefty premium for. The Phokaia resort has awful MEGA LOUD DJ music on the beach from 3-4pm every bloody day. Music blares from vehicles that transport people around the resort too. There’s a cringy Pool Party. At times it can feel like a club 18-30 during the day. The evening entertainment program is confusing and designed for people to just sit there and not mix. The quiz night is on a non-inclusive night. The tennis social looked like it was the most fun night that people had.

Which brings me onto sport. There was only one tennis coach and my husband couldn’t get in to a group or participate in any tennis coaching or drills. He normally loves playing tennis and forming friendship but he didn’t pick up a racquet this year. It was all fully booked. One pre-departure email gave the opportunity to book activities ahead of time, but it didn’t suggest that would be the ONLY opportunity to book on. There was no fitness person for the whole week. Aerial yoga was great with Najla and Leah the Resort Manager gamely stood in and offered 3 Aqua classes. There were spin bikes but no spin classes. There were a couple of HIIT classes in the middle of the heat of the day. There were two evening stretch classes. Appalling by usual standards.
The waterski boat only ran on 2 days! That is one of the main reasons I booked the resort. My family were so disappointed.

Transfers: The transfer time is 2 hours and this needs to be updated on the website.
Arrival transfer is wildly inefficient.
There was one person giving vague directions in the arrivals hall about where to go, to meet the transfer coaches. We just followed people who looked like they knew where they were going. We found the coach park and there was one person giving packs and coach numbers. We waited ages to get our pack, and once we found and boarded the coach we waited ages again. Obviously someone got lost so we had to wait for staff to find them. We arrived in resort just before 10pm. Staff kindly kept dinner open for us.

Transfer home coach was dirty, No seatbelts. It was 34/35 degrees. No leg room. Tiny luggage space above the seats and no where near big enough for anyone’s bags so we had to put them in the aisle. It all felt very cheap. No water offered.

Honestly, all things considered, I would just take this resort off the table. It cheapens and damages your brand.

An enjoyable week in Lemnos

An enjoyable week with Mark Warner in Lemnos. A third visit to this location for us, largely as a result of my children being keen to visit this location again. In practice, like every MW holiday, there are pros and cons, some of which depend on what activities you like doing, the age of your children and the other families/children there the same week.
The resort is not overly big and has a fairly compact footprint. The watersport area is a reasonable size, and there was no problem with lack of kit (which can sometimes happen). The tennis felt like a better option this year, as there were a few included introduction sessions. The childcare group for my youngest (12) worked out well this time.
The local (Greek) staff are generally very helpful and friendly. I also like that the island is quiet and not overrun with Brits, but that the main town (Myrina) is only a short bike ride or taxi away.
While the rooms themselves are fine (and personally I don't go on this type of holiday to spend time in my room), some might feel they need a bit of a refresh in the near future. I also continue to find the lack of recycling frustrating (although I suspect this is not entirely within MW's control, and I doubt the Greek authorities are reading this).
Would we go again? Yes.

Mark Warner Review

We loved our stay at Mark Warner, Paleros. The facilities, staff and children's activities make it a great choice for a family holiday where the parents get a break. The only element that we were frustrated with is that in the evenings a cinema club is provided for all kids with staff supervising but you are not allowed to leave the resort which is a real shame. Babysitting was not available, which was frustrating. Otherwise i would highly recommend a Mark Warner holiday.

Compact resort near fabulous town

Smallish resort but well presented and everything within easy reach. Pleasant beach although steep entry into sea
Only one pool which is deep and only available 10am til 6pm. Not ideal if you like to swim lanes. In fact not really possible as always busy
Food and service good but felt a little stressed at times due to undermanning
Normal mark warner facilities but these are now falling behind specialist providers
Having said this the padel court was a great addition and popular. A second is needed based on demand
Need to consider electric bikes and upgrading the tennis programme a specialist doubles programme for instance
Room adequate size with a climb in the bath shower
If you like your room cool this isn’t the resort for you as there is an override at 25 degrees. Far too hot and makes sleeping uncomfortable
Long coach transfer nearly 2 hours. They use a mixture of modern and tired coaches. Tired coach are unpleasant
The local beach town is 95% Greek and is fabulous. Easy 20 minute walk with street lighting(not brilliant) along whole route
Mark warner staff are excellent and we would definitely go back.
We had a really enjoyable

I recently stayed at a property which…

I recently stayed at a property which activities were managed by Mark Warner and I have to say, my experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, nothing was clearly explained, especially regarding the on-site activities. It wasn't mentioned that only guests who booked directly through their company could participate in the tennis challenge without an extra charge, while others would need to pay an additional fee.

After finishing a game, I was unexpectedly asked to pay €25 for an hour of tennis. This came as a surprise, and frankly, I felt it was unfair. Had this information been communicated upfront, I could have made an informed decision about participating.

Overall, the lack of clear communication and transparency from Mark Warner made for an unpleasant experience, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone looking for a hassle-free holiday.

Thanks for your review. You didn’t book a Mark Warner holiday so didn’t have any right to participate in the wonderful Mark Warner activities that are available only for our guests and we quite rightly asked you to pay a fee to take part. We’re sorry if you feel it’s reasonable to criticise Mark Warner for this but our guests come first and we recommend that you book one of our excellent package holidays next time!
