Product details

Brand: Marshalls Garden

Sweet, Chunky Carrots Full of Flavour Wonderfully sweet, crisp roots Short, chunky Chantenay shape Delicious roasted or glazed whole Great for pots and shallower soils No sowing or thinning 'Chantenay' isn't your average carrot. Its distinctive short, broad roots develop a rich sweetness and satisfying crunch, making them just as tempting pulled young and eaten raw as they are cooked. Their size and shape really come into their own in the kitchen. Smaller roots can be scrubbed and cooked whole, where they caramelise beautifully when roasted or make an impressive side dish simply glazed with butter. And because you’ve grown them yourself, you can pull them at just the size you like. There are practical advantages in the garden too. The shorter roots are ideal for pots, raised beds and shallower soils, so you don't need deep, perfect ground or even a dedicated vegetable patch. Starting with young plants also gives you a head start, with no tiny seeds to sow or seedlings to thin.

Time consuming to sort out. Whitefly on the soil that flew out when I opened the crushed boxes. Marigolds crushed due to the way the order was packed.
