A strange, funny experience

I viewed a property , 9 Collison street, Notthingham NG7 5AS at 13.20 on 3rd February 2025. Mr Luke wilson from your Notthingham office showed me the property.
The asking price was £175000, I made an offer of £175000 04/02/2025. I got email from him saying that another offer was made on that property and I could make my final offer until 4 pm next day. I called him 2 days later if property available and he said it was available and I could make an offer. I made an offer of £179000.
He replied me on 7/02/2025 and told me that Unfortunately, the vendor has now accepted another offer on the property.
The property is still advertised and I asked a friend of mine to call the Nottingham branch ask to arrange a viewing. He was told it was available for viewing. I called the office 5 minutes after his call and explained the situation and the property is still advertised for sale. I was told an offer was accepted for the property and property not available any more.

The person on the phone was not friendly either. what an unprofessional company it is. I wanted to contact their head office but I gave up after seeing bad comments on the Trustpilot.

Shocking Communication

Left a rented property in Folkestone on the 27/5/24 and by the 11/6/24 not a note or email or a hint of when my deposit will return. I called last Friday, All day, eventually a gent called M, sent my wife a message to say the landlady had queries. Had to press for some help.
Today Still no word. QUESTION:
How long should one wait to get final paperwork from letting agent ? I find it disgusting? Is this normal? No follow up

I would not recoomend this company if I was paid to. God only knows how theyre in business. Termination of letting contract 6 months fees ( not even mentioned on anything I have signed. They don't sign their part of the contract or send you a copy + don't even look at what you may or may not agree to.
If you do run into trouble they'll recommed people that do want to do the work/won't communicate or someone prepared to rip you a new one and not break down their costs.
I'm not backing down!

We highly recommend Martin and Co

We highly recommend Martin and Co. In our recent acquisition of an apartment we found Vicky Smith exceptionally competent, calm , approachable and was the lynchpin for all parties involved

I most definitely would not recommend

I like to be objective and positive but this is by far the worst company I have dealt with. I received a letter the day before Christmas Eve saying that my landlord had not paid his mortgage and there was a court date due. This was a genuine shock and I took the letter to the letting agent who promised to sort it out. Their parting line when I left the office was "if I don't speak to you before, have a nice Christmas". Well, yes of course I'm going to have a lovely Christmas knowing that potentially my 3 young children and myself could be homeless. Finally, I got a response the next day (interestingly my ex husband rang up because I was in such a state and they discussed it with him, even though his name is not on the tenancy and we do not live together) to be told that the landlord had expected his ex-wife to pay and he couldn't understand why she hadn't. Now forgive me for speaking out of turn but my rental agreement was with my landlord and not with his wife. Anyway the message was, he had paid it and it was all sorted. I felt dubious but what can I say. I tried ringing the courts, the bank and the solicitors but no one would tell me if this was true so I had no idea whether we were going to have our family home taken away from us or not, and I was in the middle of a contract so not in a position to look elsewhere.
Imagine my extreme surprise (read with heavy sarcasm) when on my son's birthday (always great timing!) I received a letter from the bank's solicitors telling me that the house was going to be repossessed. You can not imagine the utter anguish I felt at receiving this letter. I don't think I slept for a week. No one would tell us anything, Martin and Co promised to phone my landlord and let me know what was happening, 1 month later and despite me chasing them up I have heard nothing.
The council have been utterly brilliant giving me advice and support and helping me find alternative accommodation. I have now found another house for the children and myself and I could not ask for a more supportive landlord or more professional letting agent (very thorough, I have never filled in so many forms in my life).
The icing on the cake was when I gave in my notice to Martin and Co because we managed to find somewhere else they asked me to do a video of the house for potential viewings. You have got to be kidding me, right?
I’m sorry but I really can not recommend this company. As people, the staff are lovely, friendly and approachable but as a company, I have found them unprofessional and unethical. I have had the worst month of my life and whilst I realise I have the landlord to thank and not my letting agent, they have not helped the matter by keeping me in the dark. Very, very upset and disappointed.

Saved me from being homeless at Christmas

I have let with Martin and Co for two years, they have been good as an agent. Prompt to fix repairs etc. This week they came out as excellent in their handling of another letting agents colossal mistake. I had handed in my notice and was preparing to leave my tenancy with them to move to a different house. The new agent let me down after signing the contact just 4 days before handing over the keys due to a problem with the exiting tenant. Martin and Co were very good at letting me stay in my current let and offered a more suitable tenancy agreement that has made staying possible. I am so pleased that unlike SAB Newmarket they could not see me homeless as Christmas due to no fault of my own.

Martin and Co Chelsea

Martin and Co Chelsea. Please under no circumstances use this agent. Martin and Co managed my property in Chelsea Harbour and made a complete mess of everything. They are incompetent. The staff are incompetent. They failed to collect rent, they failed to serve notice on the tenant. They now have received a report on the disputed Deposit and have failed to inform me of this or send me any fund whatsoever for damage.
They are supposed to be Regulated by help@propeprtymark. I have complained to the Ombudsmen regarding this company. They are absolutely appalling in every way. DO NOT USE THIS AGENT under any circumstances.

Avoid.

Reported a leak on 23 April and still waiting for it to be repaired. When challenged they come up with various excuses and blame everyone but themselves. Crewe branch.

Not to be trusted. Rented with them for one year and had several problems, not least them trying to keep my deposit with absolutely no grounds to do so at the end of my tenancy. Avoid.

Rented from Martin and co for three years and nothing but endless problems. Landlord let drug addicts live in the building and when we moved out we had to wait for 2 months before we got our deposit back and they took a £100 of our money for cleaning which was not really needed. Rubbish company to rent from

Average at best

Got my house on the market quickly and found a good buyer. However they made terribly simple errors in the brochure/advert and didn't call/E-mail on the day of completion or after - obviously only in it for money and couldnt care less.
