At Mastering Money Matters, we're on a mission to create awareness around essential financial concepts—principles that most of us were never taught in school or by our parents. We believe this knowledge gap is the primary reason for the growing financial divide in our society, and we're committed to bridging that gap for everyday families. Our founding philosophy is simple yet powerful: It's not about how much money you make, but how much you keep and then multiply. This perspective shift has transformed our own financial journeys and those of the families we've worked with.

Money Mindset shift

Ricky and I have known each other for 30 years. Back in 2015 I was in steady job in the financial sector and I’d been privately renting for 10 years, I couldn’t see myself getting onto the property ladder and I never thought I would be in a position to buy.
Following a conversation with Ricky one evening, we started looking at my spending, creating a proper budgeting tool to monitor my outflows and starting cutting down some wasteful monthly spending. My mindset shifted as I now saw a way to make my property ownership dream a reality.
Following his advice (and a bit of help from the bank of mum and dad for the stamp duty) I was able to save up enough money to purchase a 2 bed flat for £200k. Fast forward 5 years and I sold that property for a profit of £75k. When that was coupled with the mortgage payments I’d made, my equity enabled me to purchase a 3 bedroom detached house in a nicer area. Fast forward almost 4 more years and that property has been developed into a 4 bed with a market value of c£450k and current equity of £150k. Had it not been for taking time to sit down and discuss my finances with someone independent, but experienced in property ownership and financial management I would probably still be stuck renting today, not building equity and not building an estate to pass down to my family. I now have this due to that conversation, some financial tweaking and a mindset shift. Thank you

That's amazing. Thank you for sharing. The next step is being able to pass it down efficiently without having to pay too much inheritance tax. We'll discuss that over a beer - you're buying ;)

A Simple conversation: A new relationship with money

I recently had a conversation with Ricky that really opened my eyes to the concept of money mindset. He shared some fascinating insights about how our relationship with money can significantly impact our financial situation. I realised that being financially independent isn't just about earning more; it's also about managing what we already have.

After reflecting on my income and spending habits, I noticed that my current expenses align closely with my previous income, even though I'm earning less now. By reviewing my expenses, I’ve managed to save a good percentage of my income, which has been a game-changer for me. It's amazing how understanding my fears and their impact on my finances has helped me identify areas where I can cut back and save more.

Ricky’s experiences inspired me to rethink my approach to money. I no longer stress about finances; instead, I focus on the mindset that money works for me, not the other way around. This shift has not only improved my financial situation but also my overall relationship with money. I'm grateful for the insights I've gained and excited to continue applying them in my life!

I am seeing how baby steps can make a postive contribution overall. Slowly but surely. I am feeling more confident to reach my financial goals.

The Independence Blueprint workshop…

The Independence Blueprint workshop gave me the awareness I needed to finally take a closer look at my finances, which I had been avoiding for far too long!
The step-by-step approach started with creating awareness, then introducing user-friendly budgeting tools, that ultimately helped me understand the bigger picture. Each step made perfect sense and built on the previous one, which made difficult matters a lot easier to understand.
By just applying a few simple changes, I’m already saving over €1,500 a year!
This early success gives me the motivation to dive deeper. The workshop made me realize how many financial possibilities exist. Possibilities we’re often not taught or are hidden behind the complexity of traditional financial systems. It truly opened my eyes and motivated me to become more aware and take ownership of my financial decisions. Taking financial control is a journey, and I’m on it!
A heartfelt thank-you to the host: You made a potentially intimidating topic very approachable and empowering. You created a safe space to learn and reflect, and that made all the difference.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this workshop to anyone who is ready to take the first or next step towards true financial awareness. It’s practical, eye-opening, and deeply empowering!!!
