Normally, I don’t jump straight to blasting a business publicly. I try to handle things the right way first. But this situation earned every bit of this review.
I brought my Mercedes GL63 AMG to the Mavis Tire location in Riverhead, NY for a balance, rotation, and alignment while I was in town for work. I stay on top of my maintenance, and I don’t cut corners.
Almost immediately after the service, the vehicle didn’t feel right. It became unstable at highway speeds—tracking grooves, overly sensitive to wind, and just generally unsafe compared to how it should drive. I attempted to get back to the shop, but my schedule didn’t allow it before I had to drive back to Georgia.
That drive home caused real damage.
By the time I got back, my rear tires were completely destroyed, and there was excessive wear and stress on rear suspension components. I took the vehicle straight to my trusted shop in Georgia, and the alignment report made everything clear.
The specs from the Riverhead Mavis location were way off:
* Rear toe significantly out of spec
* Front alignment improperly set
* The vehicle was essentially fighting itself the entire drive
This wasn’t a minor mistake—this was a bad alignment that should never have left the shop. I’ve attached the before-and-after alignment sheets, and the difference speaks for itself.
Because of this, I’m now out:
* $800 in tires
* $600+ in suspension components
* Plus time, stress, and the safety risk of driving a poorly aligned vehicle hundreds of miles
To make matters worse, the balance they performed didn’t even last more than a few days.
And here’s the part that’s just as frustrating as the damage:
I’ve made multiple attempts to resolve this directly.
* Called the store — got nowhere
* Emailed corporate multiple times — no response
* Reached out through social media just to get a contact number
* Called that number several times and was told a regional manager would contact me
I have yet to receive a single call or email back.
At this point, it’s not just about the poor workmanship—it’s about the complete lack of accountability.
This isn’t just inconvenient. This is a safety issue and a quality control failure, followed by zero follow-up.
If you value your vehicle, especially something performance-oriented, I would strongly reconsider using Mavis.

Joe, whom I guess is the GM is absolutely the most rude person I've ever had to deal with and then for him to try and argue with me when they initially made the mistake and also was extremely rude to the Mazda Service GM as well. I had ordered 2 each Mavis all season tires as a 225/65/16 for my partner's Mazda CX5. I get there this morning, they had ordered a Mavis AST AS 225/55/16 so, then I had to wait for them to get me the correct tires, so I had to come back to get the proper tires. After I was originally told they would take 2 hours to recieve. They call me back 30 min later that they found two appropriate tires in stock, so now I am having to again rush to get there so I am able to take them to the Mazda Riverhead dealership. I get back home get ready for work in Amityville and begin to head there. I get a call from Mazda that they had given me the wrong size to purchase from Mavis. So, as I was already on my way to work, the Mazda service GM called me if I could get them swapped appropriately for what should be a 225/65/17. I told the Mazda GM that unfortunately I was already on my way to work and if there was a way I could ask him to get the tires from Mavis. He politely accepted and stated he would call over to Mavis to see if they could make the swap and I would pay the difference in tires which was $40 in the end. The Joe a-hole decided to be a, well, an a-hole to the GM of Mazda and told him off and told him it was already the third time now they had to make a switch to the tire...first off. The first mistake was made by you (Mavis tires, Riverhead) in the first place!!! Mavis had ordered the wrong size tire either way!!!. So, no need to yell at the Mazda Service GM at all! The second mistake was made by Mazda (technically could even be the initial mistake giving me the wrong size but at least they owned up to the issue and corrected it) Then, on my way back to go to Mazda to pick up the tires and exchange for a second time, a shrapnel comes my way, which I have to dodge and end up having to dodge it, rupture my tire, having to take my own car to the Toyota dealership, etc. If this Joe J*ckas* had just been a helpful human and not an a-hole, this part could have been averted. The Mazda Service GM actually was a great human being and came out to help me put my spare tire onto my vehicle and even made sure I had a vehicle to drive from Mazda for free to get the tires back and forth to Mavis!!! Amazing human. So, back to getting to Mavis, the other Service member helps me and has to make a call to get the tires switched out again to their service desk, and the Joe A-hole decides to make a scene with not only myself and also to his employee, by yelling at me how this is the third time he has had to switch these out. Not my fault broskie!!! I told him to calm down and no need to be rude to the customer. Then he decided to keep going and when I told him, no need to raise your voice at me or even be an as*hole, as he decides to say, "oh im being an as*hole"? With my response, "Uhm, yes sir you are. You dont need to be a rude A-hole. He then tries to tell me to watch my cussing in front of the lady whom happened to be behind myself. I tell him, I actually caught myself and said a-hole the second time so, he then tries to tell me to apologize to the lady. So, I did actually apologize with a backhanded response towards him, to apologize that he was being an a-hole. He then goes out to see the tires and starts to yell at the young service member gentleman and yell at him that I need the sticker for the tire return and at that point, I tell him then he needs to call the Mazda Service GM and he again becomes rude to tell me that I need to be the one to call him..excuse me? Like, what a great leader you are to your employers and how much of a d*ck you are to your customers. He then has the audacity to ask me where I am from where I respond to him saying that I am from Texas where we tend to have some southern hospitality and not need to be some NY a-hole such as himself. Luckily, the transaction at this point is done!

Waited 2 hrs only to be told that I need a new tire because mine had a leak. They patched it. Told me they didn't have the tire in stock to come back Tuesday they'll have it then. Came back Tuesday and was helped (if I can call it that) by a rude woman employee. Disappeared into the back about 10 mins. in the meantime a young spanish man who was the only help there with a personality asked to help me. The woman re-appeared only to tell me there was a problem with the system and my tire was never ordered. OK Good-bye never to return. Went down the road to a pleasant shop owner and was told I do not need a new tire since this one was patched. So not only are Mavis employees rude they rip you off! Stay away!!
