Mayfields Woodland Burial Ground Reviews 

We held my father's funeral service at Mayfields, following his burial at Plymyard Cemetery. It is a pleasant venue with ample parking and the staff are friendly. However, there was a lack of attention to detail which was disappointing: my request for a holding image was missed and no microphone was provided for the lectern, resulting in a webcast that was barely audible - I had been told on enquiry that there would be a microphone, but then when I complained about the poor audio after viewing the webcast, was told that I should have specifically requested one. I can't understand, given the size of the hall, why a lectern microphone is not provided automatically - the ambient microphone is clearly insufficient. I did get a complimentary copy of the webcast (after I, personally, asked Wesley Media to enhance the sound) but this was not readily forthcoming. Our online mourners were elderly and some did not have English as a first language, so they particularly needed clear and distinct sound. If you do pay for a copy of the webcast, you need to bear in mind that the camera is mounted so that the ceiling obscures the top section of the screen, which is small, so heads on photos are cut off - you therefore really need to purchase the version which includes the visual tribute. We chose Menu B, but there was barely enough food to go round for the £8.95 per head, which was embarrassing - the portion allocation, quality and presentation does not warrant the price. On contacting Olivers Catering I was told that they charge Mayfields under half this price, so Mayfields are making a big mark-up. I would strongly recommend you source your catering elsewhere, if at all possible. I've written this review so that you are warned of the pitfalls I encountered in using Mayfields. I hope you have a better experience.

It seems all image and appears no love or respect here. I was shocked to find all the decorations which were tasteful and personalised to my Mum had been removed. Nobody asked whether they could do this, they admitted they had made no attempt to contact, as they have so many memorial spaces. I found them on the floor at the side of the office. I couldn’t believe the lack of respect shown. After giving your Mum and Dad end of life care you’re hardly going to read the small print. Apparently the rules have changed around leaving plastic flowers, despite it being difficult to grow natural flowers there due to possibly being near the river. After I became very upset in the office, nobody phoned back after this also. Possibly a gardener who I spoke with firstly genuinely looked sad around this, the other staff didn’t. Obviously it doesn’t get much more emotional than losing your parents.

Amazing from start to finish made a very difficult time a little easier.

If your unsure go visit the staff there you won’t be sorry they are all lovely from the office girls to the guys who maintain the grounds.

Some time ago way before my late wife, Wendy, passed or was actually ill; she mused about how she would prefer to have a sending off, when her time had come. She told me that she had heard about being buried in a forest in an ecologically sympathetic casket. I thought that seemed a nice idea, albeit quite hypothetical at the time.
Two years ago, when she had received the dreaded cancer diagnosis, the matter moved into sharper focus. Wendy - as she was given to do - researched the options and much later in her journey, discovered that a version of her wishes - much to our complete surprise was available very locally to us, in Eastham. I then decided to go and have a look at this place that I'd never previously known of. I think it was on a typically dreary January or February day that Alicia took me in the limousine buggy up to the ashes interment area to show the options available. Even on a dreary winter's day, it was very peaceful and serene. A little while afterwards, I purchased a plot for Wendy's, and ultimately my resting place.
Once the time had come and having arranged a direction cremation, via Laurence Jones Funeral Directors (also in Eastham), my dear Wendy's ashes were taken to Mayfields. From that point, every aspect of our interaction with the team was kindly, informative and casually professional.
We organised a Celebration of Life service, with facilities provided by Mayfields for audio/visual and catering with a referral to the excellent Margaret Harrison as Celebrant for the proceedings.

I tried to explain and articulate what Wendy's Celebration of Life memorial service was to our friends and relatives and just had to cross my fingers and toes that it would work out ok. On the day, everyone was brilliant, the organisation was friendly, respectful and again - brilliant!

Feedback that we have received and, I believe, they have had too was that it was a beautiful ceremony in beautiful peaceful riverside surroundings.

Scattering of mums ashes, Mayfield is a lovely location and the scatter path is perfect place, with wonderful views.

From my first phone call to the actual day all staff were very helpful and considerate for what is very upsetting.

Nothing was too much trouble happy to accommodate what we wanted.

it was great to find a natural space for my relative, especially one near to areas she loved. I had no idea Mayfields existed but it was just what I was looking for, and the cooperative setup was reassuring, that it would be well managed for the future and not out to make a quick profit. The staff were easy to work with and everything was very low hassle.

Mayfields staff gave a very sensitive, respectful and highly professional service at an extremely difficult time. I can highly recommend.

Staff extremely helpful,caring and understanding how we were feeling. They explained how to proceed with buying the plot and answered any questions we had. Very impressed.

We feel we chose the perfect place to bury mum here. Surrounded by trees bushes and shrubs, along with squirrels and rabbits. All the things she loved.

Absolutely amazing place, so glad i found it. Loving & caring experience from the staff, from start to finish. Beautiful grounds. Laid my dads ashes to rest in a lovely spot overlooking the river front....so peaceful. All at nature with there eco friendly grounds. Cannot recommend this place enough to lay your loved ones to rest....there should be more burial grounds like this. X🥰

Everyone at Mayfields was professional, kind and sympathetic at all times following the sudden loss of our daughter. Mayfields is a tranquil and attractive setting, much in accordance with our feelings and wishes both now and in the future.

Everyone was very sensitive and respectful. The facilities for the funeral service were excellent. The burial ground itself is beautiful and will only improve with time. A tree was planted next to the grave to add to the natural setting. The staff were very helpful and professional.

The Mayfield staff were friendly, helpful and couldn’t be more attentive. We wanted to scatter my mum and dad’s ashes together and found the area with lovely views over the river dedicated to scattering couldn’t have been more perfect. We were allowed to do the scattering in our own way with absolutely no pressure regarding time schedules.
