I used to like this company a lot, until it has become very inflexible and expensive. It has lost its value in NYC. I will probably not using it anymore, after expending my current credits. You are probably paying more than ordering from restaurants unless you are very diligent in spending each credit, and the way they structure their program is that you waste a few credits each month-- the roll over is only psychological but not mathematical "feel good".
Scam artists, I cancelled my membership after the first month yet they charged me for the second month. They don’t give u cancellation option nor do they give a customer service phone number and keep charging you money. Stay away from them.
i used them for a few months. I wanted to freeze because i wasn't going into the office that much but still wanted to use mealpal without being charged at the end of the month every time. I had about 70 points left. well, what i didn't realize was that once you freeze the account, you can even use the remaining points until you start again, but when you start again, you have to pay another month's worth of points (depending on whatever plan you went with). They did tell me this in an email which is fine, i get it and my mistake for not reading carefully. Their customer service is rude. They responded to my email like well, we wrote this in your previous email communication and just said it is what it is. First off, their customer service is rude, second taking away someone's points because they had it on freeze is wrong. I lost about $80 because i just don't want to deal with them anymore. The 1 star is for the bad attitude and the bad rules.
This is the biggest scam going. The customer service is awful Ts and Cs not outlined right, not enought meal available apart from kebabs and curry. Can only use one meal and day and they don't carry over and none of it is clear.
It only offers food that the places obviously do not want to sell/ worst sellers and I wish I could take back every choosing this option. Do not use this service.
Signed up with a postcode and office address only to find there are no meals within x miles of the office. What was the point? Paid £80 as well...
Seeing the reviews I'm not convinced I'll be seeing that money returned anytime soon.

As you can tell from a quick google search this is a great concept with poor execution. Their customer service is so bad that you are guaranteed to get scammed one way or another. They play all kinds of games to make money. Wether its renewing you into a more expensive plan without any notice or refusing to give refunds for meals that you couldn't pick up because the restaurant was closed- one way or another you will get scammed. Avoid!!

I was charged 151.34 without notice when I signed up for this. And it also charges you 13 when you reactive account. Garbage app. Don't use

Logged back into my MealPal account and it automatically signed me up to a subscription and charged my credit card $150+. I didn't spend any of the credits but there's no way to cancel the subscription in the app or through the website, incredibly shady and possibly illegal behavior. Don't support this company. If this happens to you dispute the charge, they don't deserve your money.

They do not let me cancel my account. THERE IS NO WAY TO CANCEL THE ACCOUNT THROUGH THE APP THEY ARE LYING
ABSOLUTELY SHADY business practices. I thought I canceled my account in 2021, but I have been accruing yearly charges twice, despite not placing any orders.
The process to cancel your account is VERY SHADY. They won't let you cancel within the app apparently - and require you to go through a very lengthy process via email to cancel. BEWARE and don't subscribe to this business.
@MealPal - don't make your product difficult to cancel for users - just make a better product instead. RIDICULOUS

MealPal is a five star idea and service. However, I took off one star only because the new credits system is less favorable than the old system. It requires some juggling of the numbers to make sure there are enough credits to last the whole cycle, whereas it was a no brainer before.
Perhaps consider switching back?

Mealpal is one of the biggest scammers. They automatically renew you even if you don't use the platform, without any consent. They keep charging your credit card until you are broke. STAY AWAY and find other ways to save your money. Now you ask me to email Kevin Ivers! He does not even work here anymore since June 2021. It is now May 2022. WHAT A JOKE!! And you said I was caught off guard by the auto renewal process. Have you studied business ethics? You could have checked in with a customer if they did not select a meal instead of scamming their money away. Go learn that and do proper business

They recently switched from a fix price to a variable price system with credits . Their plan option are deceiving and misleading . They state that you get 10-12 meals for but then depending on the meal you choose it’s less . They claim it saves ou a min of 20% but that’s not true if you do the math it’s only 5-10 %.
The system is not user friendly . Makes it hard to figure out how much you actually paying . And most of the time the savings are not worth the aggravation of ordering a day before and being limited to a small selection and bring locked in a monthly subscription. I contacted customer support to cancel my account and they haggled me over $3.70 .
Enjoy your hassle free lunch and support local biz by buying direct .!!

I wouldn't use it again. I used Mealpal for about 6 months and then during the Covid lockdown, I set it on hold. But then after every lockdown (or trip abroad) when I resumed my account, they charged me again the full monthly price when sometimes I was only able to get one lunch a month. I contacted customer service about it but the app works in a way that you can't really pause your account without being charged the full price once you resume it again. Also, the food choices in London were limited and not that good. The app didn't save me any money in the end, much rather the opposite.

Completely deceptive and poor billing practices.
Will happily charge you £12 for a 'trial', barely have any offerings available when you open the app (most of the time it says come back later), then if you don't use your trial credits in a few days they expire (meaninglessly, just to suck up your money for nothing) and they won't refund you.
Basically just a cash grab.
I wish I'd looked at the reems of other 1 star reviews saying the exact same thing before I joined.

I work in New York City. Prior to the pandemic there was a wide variety of options, and although portions were smaller, the value was appropriate. I realized savings over the course of 20 or so monthly meals, with the flexibility to roll over unused meals.
That all changed with the move to a credit system a few months ago. As MealPal tried to sell me on the program's new "perks", simple math showed the price per meal had gone up, and credits equate to fewer meals in a cycle. Credits cannot be rolled over. This removes the flexibility and makes subscribing risky.
The app has long been unreliable, and customer service can't help you if the restaurant didn't receive (or gave away) your order or if you can't scan your pickup code.
Like all others here, I encountered a series of obstructions when trying to cancel. This on its own is terrible practice. As long as there remains no charge to do so, I will be leaving my account "on hiatus" in case a return to normal office hours makes this program viable. I do not trust the company and it is a chore to deal with them. I encourage anyone considering the program to go in with eyes open and to be careful that your circumstances are optimal to receiving the small benefits of the program.

I have found that when you order on MealPal the portions are about half the size of normal. Also they are very non flexible regarding their plans. Last time I used them I lost 12 credits because I suspended my subscription!!!!😖
It is not worth the hassle!!!

Deceptive billing! Full on a scam!
They do jot let you cancel or carry over credits over 70 . I emailed them to cancel my subscription byt they did not when I was travelling and now don’t let me carry over my credit.
Scam like behavior and scam company!

Another scam to take your money on a monthly subscription for offering to provide meals they do not have!
Deceptive and aggressive billing practices taint what otherwise could be a great service. Really a shame.
