I had never heard of Meetic but found out that PayPal had been sending them some of my money. Have now closed my Paypal account so if anyone from Meetic is reading this I am pleased to ionform you that YOU WILL GET ANYMORE!!
Suggested profiles do not respect your wishes, as an example I requested flamish suggestions, 90 % of the suggestions made are French speaking. I asked for university education, and I get... Well.. You can imagine...
Impossible to contact the customer contact center for any help. Therfore imposible to stop the membership.
We did send several emails but never once received a reaction back. Just now as published on Trust pilot you reply.

Unlikely to be legit. Dishonest and deceitful payment practices.
The site *may* be legit (not sure), but it definitely has a dishonest smell to it. They have a normal paid membership with which only other paid members can *read and answer* your messages. Yes, as a free account you can basically do nothing on the site, not even be contacted!
So with basic membership, you don't know if you'll match with *anyone*, as you also can't see who's got membership and who not. This basic membership is a teaser, after which you'll probably be surprised, and upgrade to premium membership. Because as a premium member, even free users can answer your messages.
They also automatically renew your membership and they have weird rules as to when you should opt-out for this (can only be 24h after you purchased and 48h before the end of the period – this all seems like they hope that you forget to do so). → dishonest practices
Therefore I chose not to go ahead and become a member. After a few days as a free member, you can't do anything on the site anymore: pictures are blurred, and you can't even read people's profiles anymore. → aggressive push for you to pay
Finally, I read some reviews online from people claiming all the people on meetic are bots/scammers. I can easily believe this, given what I've described above.
A terrible experience, I didnt search for shrivelled up little old ladies, or people of far eastern/african origin, but it seems I was constantly matched with them, now I want to stop paying and I cant..Just awful.
