Heartless
Daughter used this “service” for the first time when going back to university from Cornwall. Her Dad had a major medical incident ( brain tumour) and was unable to drive her back to Ormskirk and we needed to rely on National Express and Merseyrail. National Express were excellent and got her to Liverpool One at 10pm at night with no problems. The kid had no previous experience of catching trains in Liverpool, plus it’s at night and she’s under stress after travelling for 13 hours with the worry of her dads condition. She bought the wrong ticket a matter of around £2 difference and was apprehended by a lovely ticket inspector in Maghull, she explained the situation with absolutely no sympathy and was issued with a fine. I appealed this with Merseyrail as I thought this would be cancelled due to the circumstances but was shocked to find absolutely no sympathy, two appeals later and they are still as heartless, disgusting!!!! I would rather pay for an Uber than use these parasites 😡
Horrendous journey
Travelled yesterday to Liverpool Central & had the misfortune to be stuck on the track just before Sandhills, while there was a concern for welfare incident on the bridge. It was one of the hottest days of the year & air con went off straight away. We were there for nearly 2 hours. I understand that staff were following directions & procedures, but this incident highlighted flaws with the new trains. 1 - no opening windows in the carriages whatsoever, which made it extremely uncomfortable. Doors could not be opened to create airflow, as per procedures. 2 - there were 8
carriages & not a single toilet on board, 3 - if there had been a medical emergency on board the train while the external incident was being dealt with, how long would it have taken to get help? I think that some risk assessments need to be reviewed here. There were some elderly & frail passengers on board this train who were struggling with this ordeal!
Have you been fined!!
Merseyrail are not following the correct procedures when issuing fines. Ask them for a subject access for the video when they fined you , if they have failed to identify themselves and failed to tell you that they are videoing you , report them to the information commissioners office . If they have illegally recorded you, ask yourself if their evidence will stand up in court ? I had my ticket cancelled by them , when I pointed out their actions were actually in breach of gdpr. They are scammers who make up their rules as they go along.

Scumbags watch out every one for the fining officers. Had a valid ticket they will find any excuse. Will be complaining.
"IMPORTANT INFORMATION" for anyone who…
"IMPORTANT INFORMATION" for anyone who has been fine by these corrupt company, you can be compensated. They haven't been following correct procedures and have been using courts unlawfully. Please contact HMRC and explain to them this, it is being investigated as we speak and 10000 of thousands of people are getting rightlyfuly refunded! This includes any miss use fines they charged. They took roughly £500 off me for a £2.60 ticket. Mersey fail you will be prosecuted!!
Shocking that on a day where you know…
Shocking that on a day where you know that the grand national is on and Everyone as well that you couldn’t organise the trains. Trains delayed more than 1/2 hour and to cancel one at Walton from Ormskirk to make all of the football fans walk just one stop from Kirkdlae was sheer incompetence. Shoddy, delayed, cancelled and very poor communication
Sandhills Station Liverpool
Sandhills station on Everton match days will be a really dangerous place especially the stair exit, and the amount of people using the station, all it needs is someone to fall on the stairs and there’ll be a crush, we’ve seen this happen before the Glasgow Rangers and Bethnal Green station disasters for examples. Mayor Rotheram ridiculous statement that it's not worth expanding the station just for the Everton homes games.
Absolute joke
Absolute joke, 40 minutes for a journey that takes 7 minutes!!! This company is going from bad to worse every day.
If they concentrate on getting a workable service instead of having mobhanded inspectors trying to fine people they might get somewhere.
Not fit for purpose
Train 25 minutes late to Cental from St Michaels. Then stuck at Brunswick for 15 minutes and counting on a very crowded train with NO ANNOUNCEMENT to advise what is happening
Hundreds of passengers late for work who can't give update to their employers!
Merseyrail isn't fit for purpose
9:50 to Chester from Liverpool
9:50 to Chester from Liverpool. CANCELLED. Obviously no explanation, not even informed when purchasing ticket! Be warned, if you own a car I’d say just driver to wherever you want to get too. Don’t rely on these CLOWNS who don’t care about there customers.
Beware of this company
Used this awful company for the 1st time this week and it will be the last time I ever do.
The ticket booth said ‘window closed pay at destination’ boarded the train and got asked for our tickets , explained the window was closed, the ticket man rang the station and they said the window was open .Tried to explain it wasn’t but he would not listen .We got fined £50 each and had to pay the full fair not the day saver rate.So a £12 journey cost me and my husband £118 plus the embaressment on the train. We were treated like criminals 3 guards altogether explaining we had been recorded and shown a badge that was like a police badge. Why have a sign on a ticket window saying closed if it was open for gods sake then lie about it.Think they just out to make extra money. Please BEWARE of this train company.
I would rather crawl 5 miles through broken glass
I would rather crawl 5 miles through broken glass than ever use this abomination of a service ever again. Trains are cancelled more often than running and prices are continuously increasing, it now costs almost £7 for me to get to work and back every day so looks I'll be getting up 3 hours earlier and walking because I'd rather throw £7 out the window than fund your dog shit any further.
Why you should not use merseytravel
The trains are low quality, probably made in china, the train driver litterally waits for you to get down at the station and speeds off just to be annoying, the ticket inspectors harrass people, i am not even joking by the way, i do not reccomend using merseytravel at all. worst form of public transport I have ever used in my life.
New trains 🚆 but it's just a scene
New trains 🚆 but it's just a scene
One of the worse train company in this country.
Numerous untold cancellation
No possibility to ticket refund or better not clarity in procedures how to get a refund.
Full of ticket checkers however all this discomfort for passengers; shameless
An absolute disgrace of a company
An absolute disgrace of a company. The ticket off was closed where I got on, asked two members of their team could I purchase a ticket on the train. Was then pointed in the wrong direction and fined £125 for actively trying to leave without a ticket when I had gone out of my way to purchase a ticket by asking two different members of staff.
I have just retired and not too soon!
I have just retired and not too soon. I have travelled on Merseyrail trains since 1978. The trains and service have noticeably gone down in the last five years. The new trains are appalling, they are so unreliable and very uncomfortable (seats far too hard). Things at Moorfields station seem to take for ever to get resolved such as the escalators which have been out for months.
I will only travel on these trains now if I can't find a suitable alternative.
AWFUL SERVICES - 2Months
The last 2 months using merseyrail trains have been absolutely appalling. They are never on time, they don't turn up when it shows on the tracker in station and on the app. Not only that, it has made me late for work 7 times in one month considering you pay 5.60 per day for a day saver is a joke. They tend to stop off as when they want without notifying the customers on the train and whilst be stuck in there you have missed your second train to work. These new trains have caused nothing but problems and have wasted my time. Absolute joke of a service.
Communication - Nonsense
Communication, from trains cutting stops and announcing it verbally rather than using/duplicating on the countless new screens every train has (when most passengers use earphones), moreover local staff… it’s not news that many people in the North West England struggle with basic communication at the best of times.
Great service Traveled from Chester to Liverpool on…
Traveled from Chester to Liverpool on the 10:30 this morning …. Train is on time; immaculately clean & staff were lovely & friendly 👍🏽 well done - would have been 5 stars but you do need to sort your ticket collection services out as I was unable to collect ticked at Central station on way out & unable to access ticket on app 🤷🏽♀️
Where to start bad??
Where to start. I was warned about the tickets, warned about he crap service but not the cost. It's overpriced, crap and a total joke
