Very difficult & caused much unnecessary stress

I contacted Metabo directly for technical guidance after a battery became stuck in their blower due to a fault in the tool’s design and build. I was explicitly instructed to remove the battery forcibly, and advised that if the blower was returned with the battery attached, the battery would not be returned to me. The battery was damaged during that forced removal. I fully understood that Metabo were not contractually obliged to replace it.

Throughout the process, communication was inconsistent. Direct questions were repeatedly not answered. I offered to return the battery for inspection, which was not acted upon. Metabo later offered to send a replacement subject to provision of my address. After I provided this, communication ceased. When a replacement was eventually sent, it was incorrect. After this was raised, the position shifted to attributing fault to me, and I was required to return both batteries at my own expense to obtain the correct unit.

The warranty registration portal is non-functional, the multi-tool collar is visibly misaligned, and the blower itself was defective.

No issue was resolved through contact with the manufacturer. The result was a significant amount of unnecessary stress, and I will not be purchasing further Metabo products as a result of this experience.

Very high quality power tools…

Bought a Metabo SBE 650 percussion drill via Lawson HIS Ltd and initial impression is that the build quality is exceptional. The variable speed control is excellent and the quality of the keyless chuck is amazing, running absolutely dead-true with no runout whatsoever. Feels like a power tool that is really built to last. Came in a nice solid plastic case. 3 year warranty if you register which covers wear and tear, so don’t try fixing it yourself first… This drill is replacing a Bosch pro tool that expired after 40 yrs use, but I am fully confident this drill will go the distance (though I won’t be around to see it!). Amazing price too via the above company. Grab one while you can…

I bought a Metabo Jig Saw

I bought a Metabo Jig Saw, (STAB 18 LTX 100), on the 23/6/23. So for 11 months it had very light use. Then it would get stuck at top or bottom dead centre. You would have to manually move the blade before it would start again. So I took it in to "The Tool Repair Guy" in Nambour, who has now had it for 5 months, still not fixed. After about 6 weeks I was told it was ready to collect, however when I went to collect it I tried it before leaving and found it was still the same. Next they told me the motor was stuffed, then some other parts were broken. What a piece of shit! I did like the tool when it was working, but I am off Metabo/Hikoki now for sure. Chinese rubbish it would seem. Only the German made tools are any good perhaps. At least in my experience. Beware. The local rep did give me their demo tool to use till it got fixed to their credit. However I have tried to contact them numerous times without a reply. I have requested a replacement with a new one but they have refused.

Purchased based on long experience with Metabo/Hitachi

I've used Metabo/Hitachi tools after first encountering an old Hitachi miter saw 20 years ago as a maintenance professional who repaired a wide variety of equipment including many other widely known tool brands. My latest purchase is a cordless circular saw. It works well, has some handy things like a LED light for the blade path and so far meets all the criteria as a great well-built tool.

Compressor

I'll summarize... I bought an HPT-EC1315S air compressor 08/24/23... using it only a few times in October. The engine broke at the end of November....then it was replaced by a new one in January.....as I was advised not to use it in negative temperatures. it was stored until now.. today, at 19 degrees, I'm going to do a little work and use it.... the new compressor broke, it wasn't turned on for 2 hours and the compressor doesn't work anymore..... there was no time to inflate the tire His compressor is completely dust free and doesn't work. I would like one for the love of God, is this compressor really that bad? I'm trying to talk to a lawyer about the possibility of getting my money back....I haven't been able to use a new compressor yet...

Bought a Metabo planer (DH 330)

Bought a Metabo planer (DH 330). Out of the box a lot of screws wasn't tightened leading to the head misaligned when i initially tried to raise the head up. I'm not expecting this from a high-end brand(!?) in 2023. It can be quite easily eliminated if your assembly line is semi-modern. It happens and it´s monday morning in China as well.
BUT what was really poor was how Metabo-Sweden handle it. A more lazy, unprofessional & "I dont care attitude" I haven´t come across. If a customer has a 0-hrs fault on a product that your company sell at least apologist for the inconvenience caused and try to sort it out. (You get paid to do so!). After the 3:de interaction with them I manage to squeeze out what workshop in the area they worked with. (Had to google the contact-info to them my self). The workshop sorted it out quickly so now i hope it will last forever cause interacting with Metabo i dont wont to do again.

Sent my sander back to me in pieces.

Purchased a sander and within 2 months the cable became faulty at the machine end so I replaced the cable myself (had to unscrew the handle where it connected).
6 months later the motor burnt out so being in warranty I sent it off for repair to metabo. They sent it back in pieces without repair and said because I replaced the cable it voided the warranty on the whole machine!
From now on I will be purchasing Makita and dewalt only and nothing from this cowboy outfit who cares nothing about there customers.

METABO today has nothing to do with good old times METABO

METABO CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Some time ago I bought a Planer Thicknesser HC 260 C from METABO. After few weeks of very moderate usage the machine was broken. I suppose because of very cheap components inside of it. So, afterwards, I was hoping that such a known manufacturer can provide a fair customer support:
- March 20, 2020: first contact by mail to inform about the problem. Only in about 3 months after long phone conversations they were able to take the machine away.
- July 17, 2020: soon almost half a year, there is STILL NO SOLUTION from the side of METABO customer service.
In general, I can characterize my experience with customer support as follows:
- Very hard to get in touch with the customer support. Lots of clicks on phone and long time to wait afterwards to finally get someone to answer. The best way is to call to the commercial department – strangely enough, they are always available :)
- Lots of polite lies, saying that they will handle the problem as soon as possible, even providing false dates of possible solution. While after weeks of waiting nothing really changed in the status of the problem.
- No any kind of proposition to really solve the problem. As a client I already lost few vacancies helplessly hoping to use their machine, because of lies of their customer support.

METABO QUALITY (NOWADAYS)
To resume, nowadays METABO is nothing to do with METABO that was years ago. I was surprised by the bad quality of the machine:
- The main frame is not solid enough.
- Guide rails and supports have a big clearance which impacts the tolerance and geometry of final parts.
- Most of elements looks and acts as quite cheap one.
- In order to make it work as it should you need to spend lots of time modifying the machine.
I use various tools from METABO (screw gun, fretsaw…) and the ones recently bought have a very cheap quality, while the price is quite high. It is not possible to find METABO made in Germany, all I have now is made in China. There are plenty of Chinese tools that have the same quality as a nowadays METABO while the price is 2 or even 3 times lower.
After this accident METABO lost me as a loyal customer.
My advice to others – pity, but there is no more reason to use METABO anymore.
