Absolutely fantastic company, the guys really know there stuff, very helpful and pleasant, fast and friendly response , and quality products made to your specification, will be using for all my projects from now on , highly recommended 😀 👍

Purchased a quantity of MDF skirting and architrave from Metres Direct, I chose the primed option for an additional cost, but to reduce project time.

The skirtings and architrave were received within the expected time. Lots of stiff right angled card edge protection was used to prevent transit damage. The MDF is resistant to warpage and initially appears to be stable and of suitable quality, time will tell.

Unfortunately, the painting wasn't done to a standard which would receive top coat without the need to rub back and re-prime a large quantity of the items received. The primer finish on the faces was fine but around the bullnose and top face, the primer shows a dry orange peel like texture, I notice an earlier reviewer mentioning this exact problem on their order, this was in 2023.

Metres Direct, the additional need to sand back and re-prime has made additional work for me and quite likely lots of other customers. Please review the painting techniques. It appears that the desire to reduce the time/cost of finishing products has lead to a poor finish in the most visible area.

Update after company response-
I emailed the company after this review, they responded quickly, explaining that the machined MDF edges were more absorbent, drew in moisture from the paint and prevented it from wetting-out smoothly.
I requested a partial refund for the difference between primed and un-primed boards. This was received through my chosen PayMent company very shortly after my request. I appreciate this positive response from the company and hope that their products remain of good quality.

Good quality and well priced, primed pine skirting board. Having highlighted that a couple of the boards arrived with splits at their ends, I got a rapid call back from Joe to resolve/replace. Good all round experience; will use again.

I have been renewing a dining room and needed skirting boards to match up with what I already had. I managed to find the style at a very good price, When I forgot some items for the order and needed to add on the team were very help. I would definitely recommend them and will return myself in the future

There was a problem, following my order for a small amount of skirting board. They were unaware of the issue until I contacted them. I had a very prompt phone call following my email to say sorry and confirm the matter would be dealt with immediately. I was kept updated and the items were delivered quickly.

This was only a small order, the level of customer care they gave me was outstanding. I will use them again for my next project. An excellent company who understand the need to look after their customers. Thank you to everyone involved in this matter.

I can't recommend these guys highly enough. We had a big order of primed skirting and architrave which needed to be on site asap (why is it everything is needed yesterday?!) and Joe pulled out all the stops to help us. Not only was the product great and packaged well, but he managed the communications with the delivery and kept us informed at all times which was hugely helpful in terms of being able to let our team know what was happening. A great range of profiles to choose from available in MDF and real wood with the option to have them factory primed.
We bought Royal B skirting and architrave. MD kept us informed of the production, dispatch and delivery details. Delivery was to a remote location in the Scottish Highlands which many companies just can't be bothered to deliver to. Joseph had it delivered two days after dispatch exactly when expected. Awesome.
If all companies paid this much attention to detail and gave such good service the UK economy would be fixed overnight. Well done Joseph, we will be back.

Thanks to all the team at MD; our builder left it to the last minute to buy skirting and architrave. Luckily found metres direct who delivered last Saturday to make sure met our deadline. Will recommend and defiantly use again.

I wrote a review last night as I was unhappy with the quality of the architrave I had received from Metres Direct - I had a phone call from Joe this morning apologising for the issue and asked what he could do to put it right. The call was unexpected and although I had the reason to complain, this is a company who cares about its products, customers and accepts that sometimes things do go wrong. Joe could not have done more to resolve for me and it is much appreciated.

There was a problem with one of the boards delivered but thank you Joe for sorting this promptly ( I received a replacement within a day , just in time for the carpenter )

Made an order for primed skirting and dado rail. Everything is exactly as ordered and it arrived in good time. Excellent communication, fast and polite email responses. Will soon be making an order again from here

I ordered a section of oak skirting as a test section for a customer but unfortunately there was a 27cm long split on one end and therefore decided not to show this to the customer as she wanted to see a full three metre long section - I don’t believe the skirting board was dispatched in this condition as the split was very obvious, so I would suggest damage was cause during transportation - the skirting board had good protection, but we all know what couriers do! I reported this to Metres Direct (with photo evidence) and immediately Joe said that he would sort the problem - I’m now in receipt of a replacement section with no damage. The hallmark of a good company is how well they respond to a problem, and Joe of MD responded very quickly. Thank you.
