Awful problems and awful after sales service

Awful. I only gave a star as I couldn't award zero. It's not even worthy of that.
Car is only one year old and has been back to main dealer for repair of the same fault over 10 times and it's still not fixed. The notification says " USB identification disc failure". It affects the radio, sat nav, beeps and dings, and a host of other things. The first few times they did a battery reset, then re installed software, then changed a cable, etc but the problem persists. Each time they say its fixed it goes again within hours and when I phone back, I have to wait weeks before I can get it booked in again. Furthermore, recently, each time it goes in it has to go in twice. First time to send details to MG to get their advice or authority and then the 2nd time to do what they have advised. Why they do this I have no idea. Why can't they take the details from the car or whatever they have to do before? Once I had to wait an extra week because the technician who last worked on my car was on holiday!! I was told no other technicians could access his workings so i had to wait for him to return. What the hell is that about??
I've even been to other main dealers with this problem but its no different.
Its not like I'm the only person with this problem surely? I'm thinking MG just don't want to spend money on a proper repair so they try stalling hoping I'll just put up with the fault. I'm just fed up with it now and have absolutely no faith in MG to fix it. I will never buy another one.
I'm now looking at my options of returning it as it constantly has faults and I'm getting nowhere with getting it fixed. Rubbish car and rubbish after sales service.

MG CEO and sub company

Good evening,

I would like to post review regarding the vehicles performance and reliability.

Our experience with the vehicle and partner company has been nothing short or diabolical.

I would like the CEO to contact me and respond to this post due to the fact that we have documented factual evidence of our experiences and have had inadequate responses to our enquiries.

I could provide a detailed timeline here, and inform the general public of the the complaint but would like to provide the opportunity for the CEO to provide some mitigation or refer back to the complaint in full.

FYI - best practice to ensure you provide factual evidence including video documentary and photo footage.

FOR ALL CONCERNED - I attempted the above and the company will not confirm liability.

Formal proceedings continue.

MG 7 year warranty is just a Sales gimmick, clutch only covered for 2 years and not much else covered after 3, also make sure your service record is flawless john Clark Dundee said no record of first 3 services on my car find it strange someone would buy new car and not service it? Quoted astronomical price for repair

Very unpleasant experience

Very unpleasant experience. I have my new MG4 SE Long Range. It is good to drive with. However, the infotainment system crashes 3 times in 4 months. Every time it crashes, I sent it back to dealer with 3 weeks booking. That means the car has no infotainment working. With all functions control embedded in the device, the car basically lost all essential functions. Dealer confirms that it is software issues which manufacturers has not released a fix, nor any timeline. I would not recommend this car to anyone

I bought a MG hs trophy 2025 last year…

I bought a MG hs trophy 2025 last year I've had a few problems with it since I bought it like starting problem which I wasn't happy about when I took back to Toomey's Basildon they checked it and let's say it's been ok on and off but I'm going on holiday in April so I wanted a spare wheel for this vehicle they have a spare wheel well so I bought a spare wheel for it but I couldn't put my cover back onto the boot with out cutting my boot cover to piecesand very which I'm disappointed and very angry because they have a spare for it but when you buy one you haven't got a choice but to hack the boot cover so that you can install the spare wheel but the jack doesn't fit so I'm not happy these car companies need to listen to their customers who without them won't exist.?????

Extremely Poor Quality Cars & Worst…

Extremely Poor Quality Cars & Worst Customer Service – Avoid MG

This has been one of the worst experiences we have ever had with a car brand.

MG cars clearly suffer from manufacturing faults. Our vehicle is almost new, yet it has a serious roof water leaking issue, which is completely unacceptable for a new car. A brand-new vehicle leaking water from the roof shows a complete failure in quality control.

The so-called hybrid system is extremely disappointing, with poor performance and no confidence at all. On top of that, the suspension quality is almost non-existent — very uncomfortable, unstable, and far below the standard expected from a modern car. Overall build quality feels cheap and unreliable.

Customer service is equally terrible. The car has been with MG for more than a week, still not fixed, and we were not provided with any courtesy car or support, leaving us without a vehicle at home and facing serious daily difficulties.

MG Customer Care in London tells us to contact the dealership, while the dealership refuses responsibility and sends us back to customer care. No one wants to take ownership. This back-and-forth clearly shows that MG’s after-sales service is zero.

To confirm whether this issue is common, I personally spoke to another MG 3 Trophy Hybrid owner, who confirmed they had no roof leaking issue at all. This makes it even more worrying that MG is selling cars with individual manufacturing defects and failing to properly support affected customers.

We trusted MG and chose it over many established brands, but that trust has been completely destroyed. I am writing this review so that no other customer has to go through the stress, inconvenience, and disappointment that we have experienced.

I would strongly advise anyone considering MG to think very carefully before buying.

Typically British full of pump garbage

Typically British full of pump worth as rubbish garbage.
Identifies the road signs wrongly, sends that info for profiling of how you drive, robs you by unjust penalties, so the British can pretend to be some intellectual powerhouse whilst they monkey about their violent bastardry.

Dangerous mg4

I have a mg4 and for the past 7 moths its had a faulty battery/ charging system. It has been in at mg 6 times and they can't/ won't fix it. Iam now unwilling to drive the car or park it at home as I am worried that it might catch fire. This is not a good car company to deal with. Can't warn people enough to stay away for them. I would give it zero stars if I could.

Worst customer service ever

Mg za ev seat has a split in the cover . This is all over the internet and they will not accept that there is a problem with the material. The customer service is terrible. All they say is it’s wear and tear the warranty is only 12 months . Was ask buy the dealer to repair as a gesture of good will there reply was ask the dealer for a gesture of good will .

Why would they . They don’t make them

Will never buy a mg car ever again.

It’s all over the internet about the seats . Rubbish quality.

Very happy with my new MG4 Trophy Long Range…

Purchased a new MG4 Trophy Long Range from Waylands in Newbury in January 2025. It has done 11,500 miles now without any trouble. Initially the operational settings available was somewhat overwhelming but that was resolved by doing a web search and finding some very good and simple video tutorials. That was much easier than ploughing through the owners manual. Now the car is set up to my liking it is a delight and fun to drive. I love it!
As the car has been faultless I have not had to contact the dealership to resolve any warranty issues, it has only been back for it's annual service.

What is wrong with this company

What is wrong with this company. I have sent 2 emails to guy.pigounakis and customer services on 16.11.2015 and 12.12.25 regarding a question on how the engine is lubricated when in EV mode. To date they haven't provided me with the courtesy of of a response. If this is what to expect when you have a simple question imagine if it was more complex. I do not know if this company wants to sell their cars or not. My question does not require a PHD in hybrid cars so why the delay in responding. Their arrogance suggests this is what to expect when you buy a car. Once out of door they will ignore you. I was interested in buying an MG HS PHEV. Not anymore. I would think twice before departing with your hard earned money unless you are happy to be ignored.

Buy this car at your own risk

This has got to be the worst car I have ever had the misfortune of owning. Other than trying to swerve me into oncoming traffic because of that sensor function it has, the Infotainment system has never worked properly - Android Auto is non functional, the outside lights on the car just randomly switched off twice whilst I was driving on the motorway at night time - and incredibly frightening experience and in the year I have owned it, November 2024 to date, I have taken it to the garage 6 times. All 6 times they say they've upgraded the system and everything should function as normal now. I recently had it recovered after they advised me to contact MG Connect (a roadside assistance service they outsource to AA. The diagnostic found several different electrical faults so it was recovered to MG Northampton. I felt so vindicated because my concerns had been dismissed so many times. That was short lived because two days later MG called to say their diagnostic had not found a single fault with the car. You couldn't make this stuff up. I would advise anyone who values their sanity, life and piece of mind to run at the mention of MG EV4. If this car doesn't kill you by swerving you away from a make believe bush into oncoming traffic, it'll drive you completely insane.

MG4 EV Trophy Long. Sub standard car

Bought a brand new MG4 EV Trophy Long Range through Glyn Hopkins, Mill Hill. The car started making rattling noises within the first three months of purchase. I took it back to the showroom, and they kept the car for a month while they fixed something that was either defective or the technician couldn't recognise the issue I reported. The rattling noise continued, so the main issue was not fixed. Therefore, I took the car back a couple of times, and the technician and service team started denying that there was any issue. They suggested I contact MG UK, but they offered no help, as they both started playing ping-pong. Eventually, I lost a lot of money and returned the car to the financiers.

Would not recommend at all zero out of ten!

Would not recommend at all.

The car itself is a poor drive, poor handing, horrendous on fuel, 30 miles to the galon, I dont go far and it was costing me £45 a week in fuel, no heated windows (waiting 20 minutes for windows to clear) radio is like a tin can. The interior is very poorly made, the radio well.... you need a USB lead to play your own music there is no Bluetooth connection, also need the lead to use the sat nav, Mg have clearly stayed in the 90s, just missing the tape cassette I guess, I'd rather prefer that to be honest, the car is a 72 plate and when we looked at it before purchasing as it was for my dad there was no wires on display for the radio, when we purchased it nearly 3 years ago and went to collect it there was a wire coming out of the dashboard, going up along the window held on by a big round sticker into the roof lmao god knows where it then went it was to play the DAB radio, what on earth I thought should of told my dad to leave it there and then but he liked the car, sales guy told us we will contact you within a month and ask you to bring the car in and we will take the wires out. Maybe a year later when it was called for its service they took the wire out but it made the radio even worse 🤣 I've just kept the radio off when the car is used, the seats are uncomfortable and if you got back problems I wouldn't go anywhere near MG, they are not made for comfort, the MG dealership situated on Maendy Way, Pontnewydd will tell you lie after lie, I am glad that the car has come to the end of its lease this month to be honest, no one should give advice about cars if they are not qualified to do so, the car was serviced in December and I was told there was a TPMS fault and I needed to get it fixed before the MOT, ideally if it was my car then yes I would do this, but I didn't need to do anything as the car was through the Mobility scheme, the car went in for the mot this week, I let them know about the light and luckily I know a little about cars so I told them I would wait for one of the boys to check it as I think it's an instant fail for the mot, no no that wouldn't affect the mot, I didn't say nothing just said I'll wait, many times I've left the car there and went into town and they've rang me within half hour with a question or problem, anyhow the boy had a look he doesn't speak to me, heads back into the office and tells the receptionist proberly what I thought, out she comes yes its an instant fail, I wanted to give her a round of an applause to be honest and said I knew this Deb, she said they will fix the fault first then carry the mot, thats good for me I thought all done within the day, oh but it wasn't, she informed me that all the systems are down and they are 1 hour and a half behind and they have alot on I said what's new, (ongoing pattern with MG there is a never a set time, so if your working I suggest you ask for the day off as otherwise all your doing is creating a back log of work for yourselve and your boss on your back) if you have to wait there for hours on end I suggest you ask someone to collect you, they've only just had a hot drink station put in and a seating area, it hasn't been customer or disabled friendly from the off, I'm still unsure if they have a disabled toilet I'm hoping they do as that needs addressing ASAP, my advice is if you need to book in for anything don't do it around their lunch time 12 till 1, I've been told many times when the cars gone in especially in the morning that the car won't be done until after the boys of had their lunch, was even told by Deb I think her name is that the car would be washed on the service, it wasn't and when I asked she said you can wait the hour if you like as the boys are on their lunch, wow amazing customer service I was always taught to please the customer first then attend your break, or 2 go on break and 2 remain on the floor, anyhow I could go on and on but I doubt there is enough space in this box, stay well clear, oh I nearly forgot if they tell you this they are lying they don't do this, if your unsure of anything ring and ask motability yourself, they will not pick and drop your car off for you when you need the service or mot, here are some recommendations of company's who infact carry this out and don't sell you a pack of lies. Vauxhall, Ford & Nissan I can highly recommend nothing is too much trouble for them and their numbers are direct to their branch, quickly add this in my car was on 65 miles when taken for the mot, when I collected it there was 52 miles! With an mot you don't need to take the car for a drive! Must of borrowed it to go for their dinner break. MG has been taken over by the Chinese and it shows, temu could of made a better car maybe partner up with them, get with the future and times MG. 🫣

Good points - nothing 🤣 unless you like to wear the mg baseball cap and drink your coffee out of a matching flask, these are freebies after your first service 😂 I'd rather the car have a hoover thanks

Do not get an MG

Do not get an MG! Horrendous performance and one of the worse cars I have EVER owned. Thankfully it’s leased and I can return it mid 2026. Constant issues with various parts breaking down or malfunctioning and trying to get it booked in at any of the dealerships is like pulling teeth. In 3 years it’s cost me over £2k and it’s only 5 years old. My previous car I had for 11 years and never had any of the issues I’ve had constantly with this car, never passes its MOT always something. It’s a damn money pit. Most recently there was a fault with the battery which turned out to be a fault with the radio, so my car wouldn’t start, a basic requirement I feel. Yet the radio is only under warranty for 12 months so even though my car won’t start, it’s the fault of the radio so it’s not covered in the 7 year warranty?! WTF! Appalling. Can’t wait to get rid of it! AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Warranty case stalled, vehicle unusable, no clear decision, no timelines

My MG ZS EV (covered under MG’s 7-year warranty) has been unable to charge and has been off the road for over two weeks. The dealership has claimed the EVCC is not covered under warranty due to a VIN mismatch, however MG Motor UK has confirmed to me by phone that they have not independently verified this and are still waiting for information from the dealer.

At present, there is no written warranty decision from MG, no diagnostic evidence shared, and no clear timeline for resolution, while the vehicle remains completely unusable. I have also not been offered any mobility support during this period.

I expected clearer communication and a more proactive approach from the manufacturer when a vehicle under warranty is immobilised.

I am still hoping this can be resolved fairly once the issue is properly reviewed based on evidence.
