I placed an order for 4 door handles for a total of €143 and €30 of shipping costs which I already found very exaggerated for the products and shipping costs but I did not find anything similar elsewhere so I cracked. The day after my order, I received an email from UPS telling me that I had to pay €50 in customs fees and VAT if I wanted to be able to receive my package. I was stunned! I contacted Matilda Goad's customer service to get explanations on these exorbitant rates that had never been announced to me. Their answer was that everything was written in the FAQ and I just had to read before ordering! No gesture was made by customer service and no information was clearly given to me before my purchase. The practices are totally dishonest and opaque.
Even if the products are pretty, it's not worth getting fooled like that. Shameful!

We placed an order for three lamps with Matilda Goad on the 2nd March and received them only on the 1st May. The items were listed as in stock, next day delivery - when no shipping confirmation had arrived over a week later, we reached out and were told that these were actually mistakenly labelled and were on pre-order. The next day delivery fee was refunded. We were told to expect delivery w/c 24th March - when this came and went we reached out again, and were told that the item would instead arrive w/c 13th April. This passed without news we again reached out and and were finally told to expect delivery w/c 28th April. Our lamps have now arrived and while the look and finish is great, our entire experience has been soured by how awful communication from MG&Co has been. We were given no proactive updates and were left chasing for 2 months via Facebook messenger (as emails to the recommended address went unanswered) an order of significant value. We will not be ordering from MG&Co again and would not recommend them to others.
Update: I would like to add that I emailed MG&Co at their request on the email provided below when they replied to my comment, and two weeks later they still haven't replied!

I ordered some brass backplates which looked fantastic online, but I was really disappointed when they arrived badly scratched. For the price, I expected much better quality. Unfortunately, they don’t live up to the pictures or the cost. Not worth the money.

Ordered the star brass back plates and what I thought was a pair of brass knobs, my fault! At £22 for a plain knob that’s was 3.5cm I did wrongly assumed it was 2 in a pack. Delivery was £4 and took about a week.
Upon delivery everything looked promising, well packaged & even came with a free yellow cloth!
But, as soon as I handled the back plates, I was cut. The star shape is incredibly sharp. I had blood dripping down my wrist. Fast forward & the joiner ALSO cuts him self on the product more of a scratch this time but still broke skin.
Decided these are not suitable for a house with pets or children
Most annoyingly these were advertised on a door but aren’t suitable for more then a cupboard as they didn’t have a spindle bar. Oh well, made a return request. They make you print it out yourself (why? They use DPD who do use QR codes?) and then return payment STARTS from £6.
So basically I’ve paid £10 to look at a product (and be cut by it too!) Not upto standard and the returns process is very old school and wasteful. Would not use this company again.
