I had a wonderful experience at Micheal Hill Bankstown last week thanks to one of the staff members, Anne. She was incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable — taking the time to explain different pieces and help me find exactly what I was looking for.
She made the whole experience enjoyable and never made me feel rushed or pressured. Her genuine care and attention to detail made a big difference, and I left feeling confident with my future purchase as she definitely persuaded me to purchase that stunning ring which I’m going back to buy next week.

I highly recommend visiting this store — especially if you’re looking for exceptional customer service and beautiful jewellery.

Poor quality

My husband purchased a tennis bracelet 4 months ago and it broke in half twice. It was around $1000.00. This bracelet is bad quality. I was told it was for every day wearing. Now that it got repaired they said for occasional wear. They will not give me any refund or exchange unless I upgrade and spend an additional 2 000.00. Stay away from this business.

If I can give zero Stars I would please…

If I can give zero Stars I would please nobody buy any jewelry from this company whatsoever no matter what they say or the price. My husband and I went in the store to buy him a wedding band for 25th wedding anniversary. We purchased the van and it was a little big and we were told go on vacation and when we come back we can get it resized. Once we got back about a week after my husband put the ring back on and it fit. He wore it for a week and a half and the ring got scratched very badly . We took the ring to the store to ask them what was going on. They told us we can polish the ring and I said after week and a half I'm going to spend more time waiting to get the ring polished. Then my husband actually wearing the ring. We were told that the ring had a coating on it and that the coating can get scratched very easily. But when we purchased the ring we were never told that. So after many weeks of trying to get in touch with corporate, corporate told us the same thing that the ring had a coating on it that gets scratched very easily and we can take it to the store to get it polished. When I told them after a week and a half the ring looks like this. How do they expect me to go to the store and get it polished so often that eventually the ring will become thin and then what? I was told that there was nothing they can do to help me after knowing that I was not told this information before we bought the ring. So please don't purchase any jewelry from the store

Wedding ring nightmare

My partner and I were so excited to pick out our wedding bands, we ordered them mid June 2024, and were advised it may take a few weeks to receive them (which was absolutely fine with us as our wedding wasn’t until October). The store experience was okay, other than being pressured into purchased the Care Plan which we didn’t even want. Unfortunately, Michael Hill has a poor range of sizes, so I had to order a H which is the smallest size, and then get the resized by Michael Hill. A couple weeks later our rings were ready. My partner’s ring was perfect, and when in the store I thought mine was perfect until I came home and saw it in natural lighting. Please note the ring was resized by Michael Hill through their own jeweller. The band was clearly too thin and wonky (photo attached of FIRST resize, but in person the imperfections were more obvious). We took it back to the store the salesperson was asking us what the issue was as if there wasn’t anything wrong with the ring. The store manager then came back and blatantly said that yes, the band looks to thin. They advised the ring would be sent back to get fixed.A couple of weeks later the ring was ready for pick up again, we took it home and again it was clearly wonky. The store said that the jeweller had added more gold to it, but it was clearly not right even after being resized for the SECOND time. We again brought the ring back to the store. Again the store people were wondering what’s wrong with the ring, when it is clear to anyone with eyeballs. The salesperson said “we’ll send it back to the head jeweller to get re-shanked” and that “this jeweller is so good, I love their work”. So again, we left the store without a ring.Weeks go by and I’m still waiting on a call to say the ring is ready. I then had to follow up 3 days before I was leaving to head to my wedding location in another town. By this point I was getting worried that I wouldn’t have a ring. I called head office and they let me know the ring is on the way and I should be able to pick it up any day now. I ended up collecting my ring only a few days before my wedding. When I went to collect the ring after being resized for the THIRD time I was devastated because the ring was still not right! The store said I’m fine to take it with me and use it at my wedding and then bring it back to get a full replacement or remake or the ring. Our wedding happened and it was perfect. A few weeks after our wedding we brought the ring back to the store. The manager said I could either get it remade or pick a new ring to the same value. I then asked if we could just request a refund instead, because we didn’t want to go through another several weeks of dealing with this situation and we should just cut our losses here. She advised that she’d need to contact the regional manager and see if they approve. We then heard back from the store manager where she advised that the regional manager has declined a refund due to the ring not being constructed incorrectly. I mentioned that this is not fair because, sure in the first instance the ring was made fine, however the ring resized poorly by Michael Hill creating the issue. I then asked for the regional manager’s contact details, but the store manager advised she cannot give those details out. She asked us to contact Michael Hill customer services so the issue can be escalated.I got a hold of the regional manager’s number from another customer who had another horrendous experience. I called him and explained the situation, where he stated that “it sounds like a resizing issue”. Clearly he doesn’t have the full story because it is not just a resizing issue, it’s a QUALITY CONTROL issue. He clearly didn’t want to speak to me, and said to call customer service.I then called customer service telling them the whole story, to the point I was crying on the phone (and mind you, I rarely ever cry!). The lady then advised that once the regional manager has made a ruling, that’s all and nothing can be done. So at a loss on what to do, I again went back to the store to pick out a different ring. I decided to pick different ring, because at the end of the day I won’t ever have my same ring that I wore on our wedding day because Michael Hill stuffed it up. I chose 2 options, and the sales person was meant to call me back and advise how small the sizing can be done on both rings. So I could just pick the smallest one, and NOT get it resized through Michael Hill. It’s been over a week and I’ve had no communication from the store. I’ve called multiple time and not heard back. I then called head office customer service and she said the maybe they are just busy and not answering calls so she’ll email them to get back to me ASAP. Isn’t it a bit ironic that Michael Hill has time for new or potential customers, but completely lacks in their ability to deal with current customers? I have told every person I know to AVOID MH!

Disappointed is an understatement

My sons purchased earrings online for my birthday and they are a lot smaller than they appear on the website, which I believe is false advertising.
Due to the dainty nature of the earrings I also had difficulty closing them as they weren’t aligning properly. I Went in store to discuss my concerns on two seperate occasions and was met with dismissive staff that have no customer service or people skills.
I have previously shopped at Michael Hill and been happy, but I will never shop at Michael Hill again.
Disappointed is an understatement not just with customer service or lack of but the quality of the earrings. They are not worth what my sons paid for them…….
Avoid Michael Hill Jewellers 😬.

The absolute WORST customer service.b shipping has been so slow and I am unable to get an update from anybody. When I email it goes on answered, and anytime I try to call customer service despite the time of day, I am repeatedly advised they are closed.

Our local Hill store could offer me no assistance with online orders, so I am just stuck waiting and indefinite amount of time for my product and or assistance.

These rings will definitely be returned when they finally arrive. I refuse to give my business to Michael Hill.

Very poor quality

Very poor quality. The jewellery quality and designs, are not fit for purpose. The worst customer care(and complaints) service I’ve ever experienced. They are selling very poor quality jewellery, and are not interested at all, when this is brought to their attention.

Watch Battery

Bought a nurses watch from them years back at Northgate Glenorchy store. I was told that I would get free battery replacement for the life of the watch. Glenorchy store closed down, so went to the Rosny Park store and was told they don't do that, it would have to be sent away for two weeks. Then told to go to Mister Minit to get a replacement battery. Not happy.

I bought a diamond ring from Michael…

I bought a diamond ring from Michael Hill for my partner, and one of the diamonds fell out in less than two years. We were told the claws had worn down and had to pay $90 to fix it — despite having recovered the stone.

Michael Hill explained that their Lifetime Diamond Warranty requires six-monthly inspections, but this was never clearly explained to us at the time of purchase. Their response was polite, but no goodwill gesture was offered.

Reading many similar reviews online, this seems like a common issue. Disappointed with both the durability of the ring and the limited value of their “lifetime” warranty.

No Ring for my Wedding

As a result of choosing to purchase my ring from this location, I will be unable to give my partner their ring on our wedding. I would advise being extremely cautious at this location.

I was sold a ring by a philipino lady named Lisa, where there were two huge issues. Both of which fall under omission of defining details whether through ignorance or malice or to make her sale.

Firstly, I was advised of a 0 interest payment plan but was never explained the terms or details until a credit check was done. At this point, she advised me that the credit card is now opened. Nowhere during the entire conversation did she advise that this was a credit card. Lisa then said that she assumed we would know because her colleague next to us had explained it. At another point when we called back she said that she assumed we would have been " smart enough" to know.

As bad as that is, the next situation was even worse. I bought the ring under the impression that it would be available in 2 weeks as they confirmed with me that it could be resized with no issue. As the issue was mainly time orientated, this was a key factor in my purchase.

1 week later, which was 3 weeks prior to the date where the ring was needed. I receive a call from Lisa saying that they will be unable to uphold the original date as due to their error, the did not realize the ring had to be custom ordered instead of resized, turning the wait time from 2 weeks to 4 to 6 weeks.

There was no further solution, remedy or assistance to help ease the situation.

The only reason this is not a 1 star is because I appreciate Melissa trying to help, even if nothing was done, her trying to help was genuine.

Poor quality jewelry

The jewelry from Michell Hills is of noticeably poor quality, with pieces that tarnish quickly and feel cheaply made. It’s disappointing considering the price, and does not meet the expectations set by their marketing.

I purchased a ring from Micheal Hill in…

I purchased a ring from Micheal Hill in 2021, since then I’ve had two diamonds fallout and the band snapped. This is a clear sign of poor craftsmanship, rather than Micheal Hill taking ownership they then shifted the blame on me the consumer in a case of extreme wear and tear to avoid honouring their warranty. I work in an office! I have not used or mistreated my engagement ring. They don’t honour their warranty’s, and they do false advertising for quality & top grade diamonds. They have a one star rating on Google! save your money! Do not purchase from Micheal Hill!

WESTCITY HENDERSON STORE - BEWARE!! HAPPY TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DONT HONOUR THEIR WARRANTYS

THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT" DOES NOT APPLY AT THE HENDERSON STORE - shop elsewhere! Accusing your customers of lying and treating them poorly because they're young pacific Islanders - ohhhh garrmoonn its 2025!! My daughter and future SIL visited your store over the weekend to exchange his wedding ring,
2 weeks after purchase (yes within the 30days!) and the manager repeatedly accused them of lying and returning a "used product" as she had found a scratch.
This scratch that magically appeared after the manager had taken the ring out back for a "closer look". This ring has been sitting in our family safe since its purchase, awaiting their big day. My children weren't asking for a refund, they were simply asking to exchange. Your manager (Korean lady) needs to work on her customer service and people skills. My daughter arrived home upset & frustrated at the whole experience. 2 weeks ago, your store was more than happy to take their $$$.

Im writing this review, because I know my children won't - they're both beautiful, humble, very hardworking young adults. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, and your "ring police" didnt help 😒

Do not honour warrantys

Worst after sale care I have ever experienced. They do not honor their warranty's. I bought a $5000+ ring from them less than 12 months ago and it got completely bent out of shape. I took it into the Garden City store to show them the poor quality and to get it fixed and they came back to me and said it was 'customer mistreatment damage' so they would not cover it under their 12 month warranty. I explained to the lady that I wear six other rings from other jewelers every day and have never experienced such low quality before. The lady said 'it has to be my fault as she has never seen it happen before'.... I will for sure never be buying from Michael Hill again!! Read all the other reveiws and you will see they do not honor their warranty's.

Withhold basic crucial information

Listings on website don't provide the weights so sent message asking for weight of a gold chain, was told that providing the weights isn't in their policy and that they price based on design and materials? This may be okay for earrings, rings or necklaces 1g or under, but not for an $8000 gold curblink necklace which is what I was enquiring about. Obviously the weight is a factor when determining value.....along with materials and style. Thought providing the weight was standard, but Pascoes don't either. Better off going to a reputable jeweller who doesn't withhold basic info. I ended up going to Walker & Hall.

We purchased a J Initial Pendant…

We purchased a J Initial Pendant necklace in 10kt Yellow Gold, but the chain broke within a few weeks. After returning it to the store, we were charged an additional $50 to repair the chain. Unfortunately, after picking it up, the chain broke again the very same afternoon. Michael Hill should take responsibility for their product and provide a replacement chain, as this is not a demonstration of standing by their customers. Their customer service needs improvement. We will be going back to this store to get either a new chain or refund and I hope they are more helpful in regards to this matter than in the past.

Do not fall for their advertisement on…

Do not fall for their advertisement on their website saying "in stock" because it is misleading. I've ordered a necklace online, and 7 days later still no update. I asked their online chat service, and the reason was "there is a sourcing issue that causes the delay". What a ridiculous excuse! The website clearly says, ready to ship and in stock, yet the excuse for the delay is a sourcing issue. Find another jeweller if I were you. Don't waste your time and money! I wish I had read other reviews before I purchased. No wonder consumers gave 1.4-star reviews.
