Poor quality

I bought the diamond station necklace which retails at $1299. Within 6 months the clasp broke. They quoted $152 to repair. Ridiculous given the cost. Customer service and quality was very poor. I will never shop there again. I got it repaired elsewhere for $20 solid gold.

I have the worst experience with…

I have the worst experience with Michael Hills products. Two years back I bought around 2000 CAD on jewelry for my birthday, everything was supposed to be authentic gold 😂😂. Everything looks like copper by now and because the warranty expires I can't make no claims.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY..it's a waste of money. Ill keep trying to do something about it, yet the customer service said the time off. The warranty of good Jewelry must NEVER expired.

Chain broke twice

I purchased a gold chain from Michael Hill Glenfield Auckland in august 2022 for about $460. It was the first really nice gold chain I had bought. I wore it about six times, with a very small garnet pendant, about the size of my pinky nail so very light. A few days after we moved house, the chain just broke when lifting it to take off. I could not find the receipt until a few weeks later by which time it was one week over the one year warranty so they refused to cover the break. I had to pay $70 to get it soldered. I picked it up when repaired but I next wore it for a few hours and it broke again in a different place and I was wearing it with no pendant. I took it in again and asked then what can be done as it is not fit for purpose as it cannot be worn without breaking. They asked me to return Tuesday when someone would be there to address this, but as i work, they agreed to take a photo and have the manager call me. No one called me. I will never buy from them again, this is such poor quality!

The worst customer service after you spend money

The worst customer service after you spend your money. My husband bought me a replacement wedding band here back in May and it cost $500 after taxes. The customer service was amazing up front (of course.) The sales lady even shined the rose gold band up and said to bring it back whenever to have it cleaned. We go back recently and they tell us because we didn’t purchase a care plan: it’ll cost $80 to clean the scratched up ring. When I said that’s insanity: “then go elsewhere to get it cleaned then!” We won’t ever shop at this company again!

So happy with my purchase @MH Willowbrook Langley. I found what I want and i like it and thanks to Cory who assisted me for the heart pendant with my birthstone and chain and earings it was already sold out in langley but she still found a way to ordered.. Thank you so much Cory for your help. For sure I will coming back and see u again soon.. ❤️

Michael Hill does not stand behind its product.

I received a beautiful silver box chain (item #P12178001) from my daughter on Christmas/2020, receipt # 011910109878. She also purchased the lifetime warranty for the chain.#0119011910635361
To my surprise the chain broke a few months later(2021), so I went back to the store in the Pen Centre, St.Catharines, ON. They filled out all the paperwork to send it out for repair. Two weeks later I received a phone call that the chain was ready for pickup. I was happy to have my chain back. I only wore the chain for special occasions so I was very surprised when it broke again, in the same place (2021). I returned the chain once again for repair. I asked about getting a new chain but was told I could only have it sent out for repair when in reality I could have gotten another chain being that it was under 1 year that the chain was purchased. I only know that now because after speaking with the manager on September 19/23. He said he could have exchanged the chain in the first year it was purchased but can now only send it out for repair. Something that was never said to me the 5 times I returned with the broken chain. Aug.8/22, Oct 3/2022 & Nov 11/22. Every time I asked about an exchange I was told that that would cancel the lifetime warranty and it was recommended I get it repaired.
I returned Sept 19/23 once again with the broken chain and after a fruitless conversation with the manager about an exchange, I was told about the 1 year policy. I explained to him I was never told by the numerous staff I dealt with, that I could have exchanged the chain.
I told the manager to keep the broken chain because it was senseless to waste my time getting a poorly constructed chain repaired that kept breaking in the exact same place.
One thing is clear I will never shop at Michael Hill's again. Why would I purchase anything from a big company like Michael Hill who doesn't stand behind its product.

There product is massed produce junk

There product is massed produce junk. My husband bought my engagement ring there and when they sized my ring they comprised the structure and then when it broke it half they said it was wear and tear. When they resized it, it was holding on by threads. I assumed when we paid thousands of dollars for something it would last and be good quality. I will never buy anything from them again and I warn everyone to stay clear.

Good shipping experience

Had a great time shopping at Michael Hill on 1800 Sheppard Avenue East. Maryam was awesome! Super friendly and helpful. Love the watch I got, and Maryam made the experience even better.

Sharing my story,
I purchased a $800 item online on Tuesday evening.
I was told informed my order would arrive. My item was collected 15mins from the delivery address the sent to post office in my home town before being delivered to a sorting centre over an hour away! And have since been informed through tracking that it’s set to arrive 3 days past the date I requested. I think to improve the online should be able to tell you if there is one located close by before offering shipping. I now have to spend more money to have a gift on the day. I will most likely return this one based on the incorrect information supplied at point of sale.

My Husband purchased my wedding rings…

My Husband purchased my wedding rings with a diamond lifetime warranty, with that a 6 months inspection on the rings is to be made in person at any michael hill store. I have been inspecting my rings every 6 months however unfortunately the last 6 months I could not attend as I was overseas. I went in last week to explain that I could not come me due to being overseas the staff were very unhelpful and automatically said your warranty is voided. Every staff member there had given me different information quite frankly I am very disappointed and the quality of service is very unprofessional, no clear instructions are made to the customer regarding warranty and if unfortune circumstances accure you a voided from warranty insistently.
I have spoken to head office regarding this situation and they refuse to escalate the situation further. I strongly don't recommed any shoppers buying as your warranty can simply be voided not matter how urgent the matter is they don't care.
I will be taking this situation further.

If i could give less the 1 star i…

If i could give less the 1 star i would- absolutely disgusting customer service and disgusting individuals who work there. My fiancee purchased a pair of earrings that were faulty, she tried to return them the same hour she bought them and they said no and threw the box at her. Do not !!! shop at these retailers they are absolute scum- they clearly don't care about the customers or feedback 1.9 stars should tell you everything.

Avoid Michael Hill engagement / wedding rings

I am devastated. My husband upgraded my engagement ring to a beautiful one carat diamond halo engagement ring from MH after the birth of my second child in 2018. We chose the ring together and had sentimentality due to the timing.

Since having this ring I have worn sparingly and now only on ‘special occasions’ and have reverted back to my original engagement ring (purchased 10+ years ago from Zamels with no faults or reparation) because the MH ring has had such a plethora of issues I am now too scared to wear it.

2018 it was taken back 2 months after getting it as I started to notice one of the claws was moving, they reset it and told me there wouldn’t be any more issues with that claw.

2019 returned to store brought up the same issues again and it was reset again.

2020 resized and rhodium plated.

2021 the centre diamond was ‘spinning’ as the claws were loose again. And it was reset.

2022 diamond was lost (thankfully at home) due to loose claws again, and MH tried to say that I had pried open claws and removed the diamond. After a lot of back and forth as I had vacuumed and found the missing diamond it was reset again.

2023 I wore the ring about a handful of times since the loss of the diamond in 2022, when I noticed AGAIN the claws were loosened and the diamond was spinning and wriggling in the setting.

None of these repairs were documented by MH in my diamond care warranty so they also argued when I needed the diamond replaced that I hadn’t followed the upkeep of bringing it in to be inspected, and I would have to pay over 3k to replace the diamond. Yet they’d had it 5 times in head office being inspected and repaired?? I am now dealing with the North Lakes store which was where we originally purchased from and they have told me that the claws need to be retipped as I’ve worn them down. I haven’t worn the ring more than 6 times in a year since the previous repair so to me, that isn’t a valid reason. They also mentioned I should be charged for this repair but they will ‘wear it’ due to the history of the ring. I will be seeking further advice from Fair Trading surrounding my consumer guarantees because this ring is not fit for purpose as I cannot wear it without claws breaking. Michael Hill is a disappointment. I feel this ring has always been faulty there is just no other explanation because I would hate to think this is the ‘norm’ in the industry as that’s what MH have told me.

Question the quality!!!!!!! It isn't what they tell you.

We bought my Husbands wedding band from Michael Hill 5 years ago. We bought a tungsten steel Diamond ring because it was so strong, in fact unbreakable.....
However, when it came off in the bathroom it broke. A big chunk came out of it. We took it back, and they sent it off to head office. We were told it's so strong, it can't be fixed. They would replace the ring ( which is what I expected) but we were not allowed to keep our original wedding band. They had to have it ?????? Even after they said it was unrepairable, Surely they weren't going to reuse the diamond?????? I had emailed head office, and they could never find my email. The regional manager would not call me and had the staff in the shop had to relay messages to me from the manager. The staff were very polite and understood our need to keep our wedding band for the sentimental reasons. I question why they wouldn't speak to me. I am taking the ring to another jeweler to look at the poor workmanship of this ring. All of our Jewlery and my husbands watches have come from Michael Hill in the past. I will never purchase another item from them again. Absolutely shocking workmanship and service.

Michael Hill Knot Bangle - faulty design. The first one broke, the second was lost!

This bangle was a gift from my husband for Christmas. I wore it for 2 days before it broke. This was after the catch kept coming undone several times each day. I returned it to the store from which it was purchased and he bangle was replaced. This one was slightly better in terms of the catch, however I still needed to constantly check it and re close at least once a day. Eventually I lost it! I contacted Michael Hill customer service. They told me that they can't do anything because to inspect a faulty product they need the product and as it was lost they're unable to do anything! Quite ironic really. They've lost our business. We've bought heaps of products over the years but we won't shop there again.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE BUYING WEDDING RINGS…

AWFUL EXPERIENCE BUYING WEDDING RINGS FROM MICHAEL HILL

A painfully long story short:
• We ordered our wedding rings in November and were told 6 weeks for them to arrive. Our wedding was in 5 months, the following April.
• During this time there were numerous delays.
• We received almost zero proactive communication from Michael Hill.
• After 2 months passed, we constantly called Michael Hill for updates without success. They promised calls back which we almost never received.
• After multiple excuses for the delays the rings came with about 4 weeks to spare, only for 1 ring to be the wrong colour.
• The ring was remade and was ready 1 DAY BEFORE THE WEDDING, 4.5 months after being ordered…
• We received barely any apology and their offer of compensation for the stress and lack of professionalism/customer service in the lead-up to our wedding was a $100 voucher to use in-store. Laughable.

This is the short version.

We will never shop at Michael Hill again.

Bad company policies

I have been a very loyal customer to Michael Hill for about 30 years, spending thousands in jewelry as gifts and for myself. On a recent visit where $2000 was spent I was informed that I could not have my wedding ring rhodium plated because I had not purchased it from Michael Hill ( we married the year before the company was in Australia) have had it done previously. On this visit an error was made, not a problem, I didn't notice until I was called by salesperson, I had not been charged for one of the items, but oh no I could not pay over the phone, I had to come back to pay, and while this was not a problem, it was quite an inconvenience. There are quite a few things that are company policy that are definitely not good customer service, such as no replacement batteries for watches, no over the phone payments, no rhodium plating of rings and if you are going to give a voucher for birthday, don't put restrictions such as minimum spend. I will seriously think twice before buying from Michael Hill again. I was warmly welcomed with great customer service by another jewelry store where my wedding ring was plated beautifully.
