Also was backing the development of a Micro Drone

Also was backing the development of an earlier version of Micro Drone. (I think it was either 2 or 3). In these days good drones for under 300 USD were simply not available so we thought it was worth to try this offer. But the same issue with the new Micro Drone 4: Image / video quality is far away from what was advertised. Guess we paid USD 200, do not know anymore, so we wrote it off and forgot about it. Now I see people backing the Micro Drone 4, and the advertisement is comparing the video quality with the DJI Inspire. To be honest, you must be stupid for this to believe that a 1 man show can deliver a product nearly as good for 10 times less the price. A 1 man show competing with such a big company like DJI???

Extreme fLiars

Extreme Fliers may have had a good name once upon a time but Vernon Kerswell has just about stripped this company of any reputation it had. The MD4 is a mythical object. An advert that enticed people in with promises of a 12mp camera, 'buttery smooth' footage, video footage taken with the MD4. All fantastic... or fantastical i should say. 2 years with £1.2 million of backers money and there is still no production drone (even though he is adamant the footage was shot with the MD4). You need only looks at the comments section of the MD4 Indiegogo page to understand what exactly is going on with this product. This was written at the time you scammed me you nasty little piece of work, don't try and make this right. I got my money back Vermin.

What can I say about Micro Drone 4.0

...... well ..... "Scampaign" sums it up nicely.

This campaign is a classic bait and switch. You only have to read the company "responses" in trustpilot to confirm the untruths about production dates etc and ongoing excuses. We were promised a cost effective, production ready drone with lots of innovative features .... it was not delivered, probably never existed .... nothing but deception and wordsmithing.

The campaign has now returned to "Prototype" stage (December 2020). It was initially advertised as "production ready" two years or so ago - but they're still not offering refunds.

Be Warned. I'd recommend you do not have anything to do with Vernon/Extreme Fliers or any other campaign, pitch or product he is associated with. You will most likely lose your funds and gain nothing but disappointment. If you are in the UK, take him to court - it's the only way you may get your investment back - for the rest of us .... looks like "too bad".

I'd also consider viewing reviewers and "experts" pushing the micro drone 4.0 campaign (including "awards" given) as little more than pay-for-comment merchants. Anyone raving about the virtues of a product two years before it (still) has not shipped might be considered to have a credibility issue. When emailed now they seem to want nothing more to do with it (but won't issue retractions - gee, I wonder why!)

Micro Drone 4 and Indiegogo experience…

Micro Drone 4 and Indiegogo experience update.

Things have only gotten worse.

The drone was guaranteed for delivery June 2019, and still not a single drone produced/delivered.

@VernonKerswell the owner continues to lie and deceive us while refusing to produce any evidence/proof of a product. #Indiegogo has downgraded the scam to "protocol". Kerswell continues to refuse to refund us despite a policy of refunding before any production begins.

Kerswell continues to lie and gaslight us Indiegogo refuses to honor it's protection and safety policies from scams like this.

Be warned, don't be abused like we were. And Kerswell made off with > $2.3M USD.

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I backed MicroDrone via Indiegogo. I'm aware of the risks of crowdfunding, but descriptions like 'guaranteed June (2019) delivery', 'extensively tested' and 'ready for production' made me trust them enough to invest (bad mistake!). Now, over one and a half year later (August 2020), there still isn't a drone. There have, however, been plenty of assurances that everything was on schedule:

* March 1, 2019: I will be going to Shenzhen to kick off production.
* March 7, 2019: I am currently in China to officially kick off the production process!
* March 30, 2019: I spent some time in Shenzhen to take a look at how manufacturing is coming along.
* May 3, 2019: I am pleased to say we are currently on schedule.
* May 19, 2019: We are working around the clock to hit our delivery dates and are on schedule to start production in June [2019].
* July 5, 2019: I am confident that in the coming three months we will deliver all the Drones.
* Sept 19, 2019: With the current schedule, we hope to start production in the beginning of October [2019]
* November 22, 2019: Today I'm excited to share with you that Micro Drone 4.0 is officially ready to start mass production!
* Dec 21, 2019: We are a month into production.
* Feb 10, 2020: The first full supply chain Mass Production run has been a success!

Even though it was mentioned time and again that production would take 60 to 90 days to this date ( Augustus 2020), there still isn't a drone. The company blames this on COVID-19 but the timeline clearly shows that the problems originated long before that.

It seems that Extreme Fliers / MicroDrone is simply unable to produce a drone which will live up to the promised standards ('buttery smooth cinematic video').

What they have been able to do is downgrade the specs (increase the weight of the drone whilst lowering the flight time from 13 to 10 minutes) and present them as 'upgrades'. Video shot by prototypes has been subpar and a long way of the video presented in the original video that was used to pitch this project.

Read through the other comments here and on the official forum of Indiegogo and make up your own mind. My advice however: avoid, avoid, avoid!

They’ll just take your money and not deliver the drone. Even their earlier version reported lots of problems. Best avoid anything to do with Vernon Kerswell and his company. They’re more than a year and half into production, and still haven’t shipped a single drone. They even locked refunds so you cannot get your money back after supporting them. Not even mentioning the personal attacks the owner showers on the Indiegogo comments page.

Backed the Micro Drone 4.0 campaign on…

Backed the Micro Drone 4.0 campaign on January 29 2019 was garenteed delivery June of the same year, the July update told of a major battery redesign indicating that production hadn't began. I contacted Vernon Kerswell as well as Indiegogo for a refund. Indiegogo left such refunds up to the campaign owner Kerswell who categorically refused. After repeatedly asking for refund on the campaign page Kerswell blocked me, I contacted my bank who could not get a response from Kerswell sided with him. I've filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, econsumer.gov, as well as North Carolina's consumer protection bureau to no avail. YouTube channels DroningOn and Geeksvana have been helping backers stay informed of our options. As of June 22 2020 ExtremeFliers and Vernon Kerswell have yet to deliver anything and continue to make refunds unavailable.

Extreme Fliers (aka Vernon Kerswell) Micro Drone 4.0 scam

Extreme Fliers (aka Vernon Kerswell) promoted the Micro Drone 4.0 early 2019 on IndieGoGo as a production ready product with a guaranteed delivery date of June 2019. After the refund option was closed a couple of months later, no delivery or specification promise was kept. The Drone got severely downgraded to a point where it didn't even remotely meet the specs in the IGG campaign. The promised buttery smooth cinematic video recording as advertised and shown in the demo, was never to be repeated. The flight time dropped by about 50% to a ridiculous low 8 minutes maximum. Also due to the increased weight, campaigned at 120 grams but now up to a healthy 170 grams. The "production ready" is now still being worked on by VK and his alleged team. In one of his very scarce comments, VK told he was making "improvements" to the gimbal by adding superglue!

Artificial Intelligence was also campaigned but got dropped somewhere along the way. Obviously without proper communication with the backers/investors and only when asked repeatedly, admitted by VK (late 2019/early 2020).

Additional batteries and a Remote Control with extended range were also offered. Guess what; they have never surfaced. Requests to have at least these refunded are not answered.

False pretenses, vague responses (if any at all), silly excuses and now nearly a year after the guaranteed June 2019 delivery, the company and it's "CEO" is not willing to provide proper, regular (biweekly as promised) updates with real answers. They (he) also refuses to show us (the investors) what has been done with the nearly 2 million USD received even though they are obliged by IGG to do so on request. For that matter; IGG is to be blamed as much as Extreme Fliers as they don't (re)act to this situation. Advise: stay away from both Extreme Fliers (aka Vernon Kerswell) and IndieGoGo as they are providing a platform for scamming/fraud (not just based on this particular campaign).
It's a shame there's no option for 0 stars as that would have been very appropriate.

Extreme Fliers basically use lies and…

Extreme Fliers basically use lies and manipulation to trick people into handing over their money and then squander it over a long period of time by making excuses and straight up lying about what they're doing.

I usually don't partake in Crowd Funding but in the case of Micro Drone 4.0 this was sold as "Ready for production" and "Guaranteed June 2019 delivery". At this point we'll be lucky to see it in June 2020.

Vernon closed refunds before deciding the drone was NOT production ready and needed a years worth of tweaks. These included making the drone larger, heavier and with 30% less flight time. You don't need to know much about drones to see this is a downgrade in basically ever way.

In the year it took Vernon to make these downgrades (constantly saying he was overlooking production and making excuses) his "competitor" DJI released the Mavic Mini as well as recently announcing another new drone that we will almost definitely see before the launch of this obsolete Micro Drone 4.0.

I wish I'd have read the comments on MD 3.0 before funding as they are identical to how the MD 4.0 comments are now. Full of angry backers and people feeling lied to and mislead. That's what Vernon does. He lies and lies. He considers himself an entrepreneur when he can't produce anything of substance.

He refuses to answer questions that backer raise, instead ranting "trust in the process" and crying that he's being personally attacked.

The company is a farce and Vernon is an incompetent fool bumbling his way through the dark, trying to hold onto every penny he can.

Don't take my word for it. Go and read the comments on the MD 4.0 and MD 3.0 IGG pages and see the thousands of angry comments and Vernon doing nothing about it. See the revealing interviews with Geeksavana and the fantastic breakdowns by Ash and DroningON.

I don't really need to give this fool a bad review. He's done an incredible job himself (it's the one thing he's achieved so far).

Very very bad experience with…

Very very bad experience with microdrone, and especially Vernon Kerswell.
After the refund period was closed he downgraded the product.
We are now almost a year after the “garantied delivery of June 2019 (now april 2020).
Promisses of a bi-weekly update and video s of the drone in front of a mirror were not kept.
Less flighttime, bigger size etc.
The video used in the campaign is nowhere near what was releases in the last 2 updates.
Answers are not given in the campaign, just a reply that this is answered before, what is not the case and should have been in the update area.
Sold from a uk compagny, but after he has taken your money stated that the drone ships from China, result, 70 euro extra import vat.
There is a lot more negative, but you can see this on the comment site of indiegogo.
There are a view interviews with Kerswell on YouTube with geeksvana.
Also good to see is the bbc article and droningon.
Probably his response is that they are not objective etc...
My advise, stay far away from this compagny and especially Vernon Kerswell
Never buy the microdrone!!!!!
Now august 2020, still no video proof from Vernon Kerswell.
Last update was in gif....
UK People who have begon a LAW suit against him won, (he paid the money back before the real law suit begon.)

"One Star" because there is no "Zero Star Option"

I really hate giving a "one Star" rating. But i hope that some poeple out there are checking TrustPilot before buying from Extreme Fliers.

I have been misled! The "now" updated Campaign Video indicated that the Micro Drone 4.0 will have a 12MP camera wich turned out as a 5MP camera wich makes it useless for me (I wanted the drone to shoot pictures mainly). Several tries to get a refund failed. I didn't even got an answer from Vernon Kerswell (CEO).

Later it turned out that if this product is ever beeing delivered i will get it from China and it will cost me additional 60€ Importax. This was not clear at all!!! So im forced to pay for something i dont want. I could be Easy for this company to let me go beacuse they are not in Production at all right now, but no they plan to deliver to every backer. Even if they dont want it because the drone is outdated and super delayed... Its feel to me they want to punish all backers for contributing to this campaign!
Sure delays are a risk of crowdfunding but not giving correct timelines and also dont giving updates more often is pretty bad!

But to say something nice there are often funny comments from Vernon Kerswell, statements like "tust the process" "we are making excellent progress" which are always funny to read with no proof of that! Its funny because he still wants us Backers to trust him even though he let us down very often.

So to complete my experiences: Extreme Fliers feels to me like a Company that cares only about their income and not one tiny bit about thier Customers.

A terrible experience from an awful company led by an incompetent CEO

It's hard to add any more salient points to those already detailed in Polo Izquierdo's excellent review, which speaks to the issues so many backers of the microdrone 4.0 are experiencing.

Poor communication, a lack of updates and marketing material that bears no resemblance to the product as it stands are just the start of the issues.

Vernon steadfastly refused to grant refunds to anyone, so I am currently attempting to recover my money by raising a section 75 claim with my credit card provider. I would urge anyone based in the UK to take the same route, and if you're considering backing or buying an Extreme Fliers or Vernon Kerswell project, campaign or product then I would urge you to reconsider.
