Scam - a year of waiting and nothing to show for it

I ordered a smoker from Midwest (Danny Ward) back in July 2024 after being offered a half finished one that would take "a week or two" to finish. Was given a delivery date of 24th August 2024 but this and around 15 other promised delivery dates have come and gone with nothing to show. Coming up to a year since the first promised delivery date.

I've since requested a refund which has also been ignored and now I have put a CCJ claim in against him.

Avoid like the plague!

Scam & Fraud. Avoid

IBelow is my unfortunate story of dealing with Danny Ward who operates Midwest BBQ pits and Grills. Please read the story below and look at the emails and WhatsApp and take this as warning to not engage with Danny or send him any money. You will have months of hassle, lies, dishonesty and not receive what you have purchased.
In early March 2024 I started in email conversation with Danny to purchase a BBQ offset smoker. We discussed options, costs etc and he provided a delivery date of W/C 29th April 2024. I paid a deposit and waited patiently.
I chased him a few times after the delivery date passed asking for realistic dates and lead times. 17th June I got sent pictures via WhatsApp of a smoker that was to my specification and that it was ready to be delivered. I paid the outstanding balance but nearly a year later I am having to chase him weekly to be given the next excuse in a long line of excuses. When I received the pictures I was asked not to post them on social media, which I now know is a major red flag.
I have had multiple promises or his “word” that it will be delivered next week or posted on social media on x date. These dates pass and we are onto the next excuse.
I am the type of person who likes to think the best of people and give them a chance. This has been a mistake to take this approach with Danny and I am now going public to stop others having the issues I am having.
Known excuses he has used with myself and others.
Delivery company has turned up.
Didn’t fit on the delivery wagon.
On Holiday so it will be next week
Not had parts from laser cutters
His mother has died at multiple times (not used with myself, but confirmed by others)
Being delivered with another person smoker so just wait for that
It’s a mate’s house who is on holiday.
Last known business address is
Midwest BBQ pits and Grills
Unit n Prestwich industrial estate
Coal Pit Lane
Atherton
M46 0LY

Home address is in Astley, Tyldesley area.

There are multiple people in the same situation as myself and their stories can be found on the Midwest Action and Information Group on Facebook. Link below.

Danny has run multiple raffles from his Facebook page and many have not received the prize. The current raffle was 13th April 2025 and the pit has yet to be delivered to the winner.

Stay safe and don’t get taken for a ride by this con man!!

Scam - pure and simple

It gives me no pleasure to say this: Midwest BBQ is a scam shell company and Danny Ward is a conman.
I had heard about long lead times previously so stupidly paid for what I was told was a “ready to go” pit that could be delivered immediately. That was 3 months ago and nothing has been forthcoming except excuses: delivery driver let him down; his son was ill; he’s been under pressure etc etc.
Danny eventually agreed to a refund a month ago which he assured would take 3-5 days to process. Guess what? Another promise of something he can’t deliver. I am now pursuing compensation through my bank.
If you don’t believe this review, check out the FB group “Midwest Action” which now has over 350 members - many with the same sorry tale as me. At the very least, ensure you resist Danny’s attempts to get you to pay by bank transfer to his personal account and pay by credit card so you have some chance at recourse.

Only one star as unable to award zero!

Don’t waste your money and hours and hours of your time dealing with this charlatan.

Delivery times were missed over and over and over again. Interminable lies and stories. The Danny Ward book of excuses must be the thickest on the planet!

When my pit finally arrived (months and months late) it had parts missing and the finish quality was appalling. I paid extra for powder coating but it was of such poor quality that it burnt off on the pits inaugural outing.

The alleged counter weight - again and extra that I paid £300 extra for, is not a counterweight at all - just a hollow tube welded on! Just adding weight not providing any counter weight at all!

My offset, with all the alleged extras, cost over £3,500 - all of which was funnelled through his personal bank account. No business account or registration or anything is in evidence.

The proprietor of this company is a crook and very dishonourable man.

Please save yourself a load of anguish and grief and shop elsewhere.

There is a Facebook group called MidWest Action and Information Group. Now numbers over 350 members who are mainly very dissatisfied customer of Midwest.

Scam artist, avoid at all costs.

I only gave 1 star as it wouldn't let me put 0. Danny is a conman, has taken payment for a smoker in July 2024 that I have never received still to this date, and offered a refund that has also never been received. Promised delivery always on a Friday and then when something comes up on a Friday it's always next Friday. The cycle is never ending. 100% avoid at all costs, the man and his brother are scam artists. Check out the Facebook page 'midwest action and information group' before placing any order and do your own homework like I wish I had of done.
