Julia Kaplan is an amazing teacher. My 1 year old daughter Elise is quite timid, shy and takes a long time to warm up to new environments. Julia's gentle, kind and warm approach has brought out the best in my daughter. Throughout our first term at Mini Maestro's, Elise has gone from crying in the lesson to now participating with instruments, smiling, waving and clapping with the rest of the group. I love seeing the confidence that has grown within her over the last term and watching her enjoy music in class the way she does at home. Julia takes a personalised approach with each child to make them all feel comfortable and welcome which is so reassuring as a parent. We enjoy the music and the variety of instruments we have been introduced to so far!

Taryn (teacher) is a delight!
Inclusivity is her speciality, she is able to include the whole group during activities and on a one-on-one basis. Not only this, but can read each child as they arrive for class and is always mindful of their feelings!

I highly recommend Mini Maestro Altona North. All three of my children have attended Mini Maestro and they have all gained so much from these classes. My third child, who was always quiet and shy has come such a long way and I can see her confidence continue to grow each week! Michelle is a wonderful educator who beams with energy and passion each week. She is consistent in her approach which allows the children to feel comfortable and safe in knowing what to expect. Michelle genuinely cares for the children’s development, she is kind and generous and makes classes so much fun! My daughter loves attending her classes so much!

After lots of research about appropriate music programs for 2 year olds l chose Mini Maestros at Altona North. It was going to be a special weekly activity to do with my grandaughter. I was offered a 3 week trial which l thought was a great idea particularly given my grandaughter has a physical disability and would need to use her walking frame to fully participate. Lots of questions were asked particularly in relation to the safety of other children - l assured the facilitator that other children would be safe in relation to my grandaughter moving around under my supervision.

I felt it was ‘wham bam thankyou mam ‘ - in out - next class - little consideration for the time it took for me to get her from sitting position into her walking frame to fully participate with the other children

I was surprised when l was sent an invoice for the trial ? Of course l paid it with no question but l thought a trial was a trial ??

Disappointing when l didn’t enrol that no one contacted me to enquire whether we would be enrolling and if not why not?

I felt that it would have been a relief for the facilitator to not have to modify the program that is so rigid

I would have thought by 2024 businesses would have learnt the value of being inclusive for all children who need to be enriched by music and dance

Extremely disappointed and sad that this was not the case

I have watched by granddaughters enjoy learning new skills with Tim, his ability to connect with the children is wonderful.

The program which my grandson attended was the right level for him to explore fun in music and to experience some form of physical interaction with kids of his age group. The music teacher managed the class well and it definitely is engaging for the kids as well as their family or guardians. I myself enjoyed the experience and learned some new songs and rhymes. Something I never had when I was growing up. I guessed my enrolment for my grandson was not just fun for him, but for me too! Although I’m not sure if I would continue to enrol my grandson for next year program, as he might be in childcare all week, I highly recommend Mini Maestros program to families with young children as music helps them to express themselves in creative ways. They are also learning to listen and follow instructions. Unfortunately my grandson was not able to attend most of the sessions in the last term this year as he was unwell with cough and cold symptoms on and off. But when he was at the program, he and I really had a fun time together and that is what really matters to us.

We take our nearly two year old granddaughter, and our 3 1/2 year old grandson, to Mini Maestros lessons at Moonee Ponds.
We are so impressed by the structure of the lessons which are so much fun for the children (as well as the adults), teach the basics of music, increase their spoken vocabulary, teach various movements, snd also prepare the children for the structure of kinder and school.
We have been so very lucky to have Shae as the teacher for each of our grandchildren. Shae is delightful, encouraging and warm, and so gentle and beautiful with these young children, who all respond so well to her. You couldn’t find a better teacher.
Activities are matched perfectly for each age group, and the children love the parachute play, the bubbles, the little toy animal house, and so much more, all accompanied by song.
“Shae” was one of the first words spoken by our granddaughter. They both love her, and love going to see Shae.
The lessons are in a nice bright room that is part of a church. It has its own car park - so much safer than parking on the street when you have young children, and its own small playground with table and chairs, where we take each child for a snack and a play before/ after the other child has a lesson. Very convenient.
With much thanks to Shae for her delightful lessons, and her beautiful way with the children. ( as well as with the parents and grandparents). . What a wonderful introduction to learning in kinder and school.

We think the course is engaging and comprehensive. Finn really enjoyed learning the songs, playing the instruments and contributing to the dances and activities.

My child loves going to Mini Maestros every week. Judy is amazing! She explains what each step or note is for and how these help children develop their musical understanding of high and low notes, rest beats, volume and tempo. We also love the year end concert and look forward to it every year!

Fantastic introduction to music for all ages! My 7 month daughter loves her class - teachers very informative, friendly and welcoming with a lovely singing voice. Highly recommend!!!

I attended a 3 week trial and thank goodness I wasn’t signed up for the term.
The first session was good although the teacher seemed quite abrupt.
Second and third session were repetitive and the teacher was more like a drill sergeant than a children’s music class leader.
I was talking to a lady next to me quietly and was told to shoosh whilst getting clicked at.
Postpartum life is tough and attending mini maestros was a way for my baby to learn and have fun and for me to connect with other Mums but I felt I wasn’t able to say a word without being told off. Not a nice experience.

My 8month old and I have really enjoyed these classes. The lessons are fun with lots of variety (instruments, singing, dancing) and just long enough to keep my baby’s short attention span!

We loved doing Mini Maestros with Judy. Our son felt very comfortable and you can tell he was really enjoying the different instruments!

My daughter loves mini maestros. She has a smile on her face the minute we walk in and Julia is so passionate and caring with all of the children. Highly recommended for all babies that love music

I informed that we are unable to attend for two classes and I was told that I would get a refund as there are no replacement classes for babies. However I haven't had a response to email or had my money refunded for two classes yet. A bit disappointed with poor communication and lack of professionalism.

Respect and friendly to all the kids and parents

Children enjoyed the concert and so did the adults.

I bring my Two toddling grandchildren to Mini Maestros. We love it. There are delightful songs, stories, chants and dances just right for this age group. We especially love playing along with the instruments and our sparkly scarves. There is plenty of variety as well as essential repetition and our teacher Maddy is a superstar! I am already looking forward to next year and progressing my grandchildren's innate love of music.

Tif is absolutely amazing! My little one absolutely loves her half an hour of band practice.

Great activity for kids to learn through music and play, pitched at age appropriate levels. It's been a beautiful bonding opportunity for me and my toddler, we both love attending each week! Each class has some reputation to help the kids learn but also new things to keep it interesting and engaging. The exposure to different music and instruments is excellent!
