Their UK arm performs badly

Their UK arm, morningstar.co.uk is an unreliable site. I find that I'm frequently blocked from being able to access their company sites, particularly their reports on companies. A search can throw up an error message stating "The page cannot be displayed. Either the page does not exist or we have technical problems. Please check the URL or try again in a short while." It happens so frequently that I now have to go elsewhere to get information I need. I'm a Premium member, but don't get appropriate help from their support to enable me to access these reports. This poor performance makes me think of demanding a refund. the morningstar.com site, which is payable separately, is much better but doesn't give access to a lot of UK companies' reports. It's a great pity as Morningstar have in the past been a great resource.

UK premier service doesn't work and hasn't for 2 years

Morningstar US is fine, but the UK (.co.uk) doesn't work reliably and hasn't for 2 years. Most days (80%+) I can see my portfolio yet when I click on a stock, or when I try from other pages, I just get "this page cannot be displayed". I have written maybe 50 emails over two years and got sometimes helpful (mostly useless) responses, but they all end with the site not being fixed. They offer 20% off the subscription sometimes - like that is going to help when you cant access it!

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE

Site just plain does not work. Constant 404-type ‘not found’ error for even the most traded securities.

Customer service phone number in the UK is just the HQ and they pass you on to *US* customer support, which is a different site.

Utter nonsense. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE

Worst financial site I have ever been…

Worst financial site I have ever been on!! Emailed customer service numerous times to tell them that the Wide Moat filter isn’t working or the Morningstar ratings filter whilst works doesn’t show the stars. They just offered a discount?! Only reason I subscribed was for the wide moat filter so pretty pointless if that isn’t working. Still waiting 10 days for a reply of when this simple filter issue will be fixed. Waste of time!

It's very disappointing that the…

It's very disappointing that the premium UK version has fallen so short now for over 14 months. Initially it was a complete loss of accurate daily equity and fund price information, with the knock-on completely useless portfolio performance figures, then late, missing and inaccurate data for individual equities, missing news on equities, and most recently more frozen windows and a complete inability to access premium features at all.
This is a shame as the US site performs well. For these reasons i cannot justify the premium package when free sites offer a mix of the same services. Apparently the Canadian version of Morningstar is experiencing a similar problem.

Creeping loss of Function

I have used Morningstar Premium for several years and found its analytical tools very useful. There has been a creeping loss of function in recent months. Fund comparison capability on a chart disappeared some time ago. X-Ray function disappeared over a month ago. Recently I have lost all access to my Portfolio. The service is rapidly becoming unusable for practical investment analysis. It is a pity that this once excellent investment tool is headed this way.

Poor and slow customer IT support

I have paid for Morningstar premium for a number of years. The portfolio monitoring facility is useful. I have had a number of incidents when I couldn’t access my portfolio. The latest started with the X-ray facility stopped working. This was reported. A few days later I could not access portfolios at all. The customer support is slow. The issues are still not resolved after 10 days.

Neglected site

I have been a premium subscriber for many years and I am now giving up on the portfolio manager tool. It is slow and you cannot combine portfolios (how hard can that be?) but above all teh % weights are completely wrong. They acknowledge that this does not work but over months now do nothing about it. This shows a company that has no pride or responsibility in its product - it is a very simply, basic feature and they should be embarrassed to have it like this. Also, the comparison feature on charts no longer works and they have moved to automated reviews of some funds which produces some idiotic remarks. Such a pity it has deteriorated. For portfolio tracking, Sharesight is infinitely better

You literally cannot trust them

You literally cannot trust them. The portfolio tracker is now just a bad joke. The %weight column is completely wrong. I reported in May and nothing has been fixed. We're talking about an inability to do a simple division calculation. The premium "+" functions are meant to give an option to sign-up, but they are broken links.

I noticed today that the quantity column for one of my holdings is incorrect. It doesn't reflect a sell transaction I added in May. I've tried again adding the transaction but still ignored.

Can only assume given their lack of action on reported issues that Morningstar have abandoned the portfolio tool - do not trust.

Portfolio updates fail once again.

Shell's reorganisation of its share structure was announced months ago. The new shares, SHEL on FTSE, came into being 29/1/2022, old shares discontinued. Has Morningstar's portfolio handled this, of course not. Have they fixed it 10 days after I reported it, of course not. Don't waste your money subscribing to morningstar.

These guys are shocking

These guys are shocking. I have been receiving spam e mails from them which they acknowledge is from them with no way of unsubscribing my end. They have clogged up my e mail box for over 12 weeks, and they have no idea what customer service means. They are complete rubbish

Have to agree with others

Have to agree with others that the customer service isn't the best. I just spent 20 minutes trying to login, but after having no success called support and spent over 40 minutes speaking to support, who put me through to sales, who put me back to support, who then put me back to sales. I have to say, the two ladies I spoke to (one in support and one in sales) were very pleasant and polite, but the final person I spoke to in sales (after being on the line over 40 minutes) was so bad it was almost comedic. His name was Jeff, and he was to poor customer service what Ronaldo is to world football or Novak Djokovic is to tennis ... an absolute superstar. If anyone wanted to make a training video of how to NOT win customers then Jeff would make an excellent case study.

Hopeless customer service and still locked out of my premium…

I am still locked out of my premium account since the 5th August despite an active subscription running until June 2023
Since January 2021 I haven't received the monthly portfolio monitor. I was told me that for some reason my e mail which had worked for the last ten years) now bounces back the reports. I have been a premium subscriber since June 2011.

In July I changed the e mail and my password in order to try to overcome this. I was then after an initial period when the premium service worked for a few days the subscription was changed to the free non premium service without any explanation. I have highlighted this to the customer services on a number of occasions they respond-saying it was escalated and they are working on a fix but unfortunately nothing has actually been achieved. I am still locked out of the premium services.

I cant find any complaints policy on their web site? They should have one. I would like to make a formal complaint about the service you are providing and I am paying for and not receiving.
I am becoming frustrated and irritated by the lack of progress as nothing has actually been achieved to resolve the problems.

Customer service reps not fit for purpose

Lack of solid customer service lets this great analytical tool down. I paid for a premium subscription for the UK site to find it was very constrained and simple features of the portfolio tool which the US version offers are not offered in the UK. Then found some discrepancies in the data they sent me. Finally got through to Deepa S in Mumbai who I had to chase various times. She appeared disinterested and did not even understand the basics of the product offering. I did receive enthusiastic emails saying she would be in touch. Its been weeks and still the issue is not sorted with no follow up. When trying to access a rep in the the UK you are very likely not to get someone to even pick up the premium subscriber support number. A great pity that such an extensive and comprehensive resource is let down by its customer services team. One issue is that you cannot combine portfolio's on the UK site and the other is that the Monthly portfolio monitor reports provide different results to the X ray view available on the online portal. Makes me question the veracity of everything they are providing if customer services cannot answer simple questions as to why there is a discrepancy.

It is the most frustrating website and annoying customer service experience.
I paid for a premium service and I spent most of my time waiting for pages to
to load or refresh away from 404 and 500 messages. The website is slow slow slow
And the advertising is continuous. But most recently I am seeing some really
strange website behaviour , pages loading with continuous popups, interstitial advertising etc.
The search bar only works from the home page. The cache apparently has to be cleared every few days….The list goes on and on.
I need a financial website I can trust and Morningstar is not it.
I cancelled my account, I sent an email explaining why and they sent me a standard “its your browsers fault” email back.
I sent an email asking not to be contacted again and they sent another email back to me.
I think they enjoy angering consumers; It’s obvious they don’t read consumers emails.
Don’t waste your money.
