Scam
I was selling my car on FB marketplace and a potential buyer asked me about the cars condition, reason I'm selling it, will he need to get any work done on it. Then he asked me to get a motor fact file report. Luckily I read forums online to realise that it is a scam. I immediately blocked the buyer.
It is a SCAM
It is a SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!! to loot you with your card and details, apparently they are going to across market place on facebook and sending messages to everyone having a sale add for their car or vehicle.
Any idea how to shut down the website? Any internet police to report?
Don't fall for it!!
Selling a car on Autotrader and Facebook. Received a message on Facebook from a 'Jake William'. Asking questions about the car then insisting I do a Motor Fact File check and sent me a link to the website. A quick Google search has led me to this review page so I'm here to echo the sentiment. Please don't fall for it. Autotrader do finance checks etc for £4.95 if a potential buyer insists so much.

SCAM
SCAM! When you pay the fee the money goes to their PayPal account. You won't get a report.
You won't get a refund from them. Why has this site not been shut down?
Same happened
Same happened, it is scam don’t buy it, buyer seemed to be very interested and insisted me to buy that report .
Don’t buy it it us scam
Same as others -scam!
Same as others, it’s a scam, don’t use it! I hate scammers, they are worse than murderers and rapists. Taking people’s hard earned money, it’s abhorrent
SCAM
SCAM! The company is obviously using some sort of Bot's to scan vehicle adverts and ask the seller to buy a report that gives no more information than the basic checks done on Autotrader and a quick MOT check on the government website. I had two emails this morning both asking 'Is it available?". Then asking me to get a report. When I politely said there was no point in getting a report and asking if it was a scam both email conversations stopped.
exactly the same as others on here.
exactly the same as others on here.
got an immediate refund from PayPal !
A scam
A scam. Look out for an email asking for a review for this company from James David’s insisting on a review from this company. Scam
Same experience as previous reviews
Same experience as previous reviews. In my case for a boat. A "buyer" insisting on a motor facts report. Me pointing out that such a report for a boat is a complete waste of money. Buyer insisting that his "dealer friend" and later his "marine surveyor friend" recommended this before he buys my boat. etc. I sensed this is all a bit odd. Checked Trustpilot. Thanks to previous reviewers for sharing. Helpful confirmation & saved me the money.
Identical experience to the reviews…
Identical experience to the reviews below. I posted an ad on Autotrader for a motorbike. Within hours had a message from a Kelly Smith. Multiple exchanges led to her asking me to obtain a Motorfacts report and she would come to view the bike the next day.
Vanished thereafter.
I messaged Motorfacts about the case and they simply respond that they are not aware of any such cases.
It looks like a scam
It looks like a scam, it sounds like a scam, it smells like a scam. So maybe it’s a scam?
I advertised a caravan for sale on abutotrader. Within an hour I received three emails all asking an identical question: ‘is it still available?’. I replied and then there were emails from just one of these three ‘persons’. It all lead to me being asked insistently to provide a ‘history check’ from ‘motorfacts Uk’. Nothing else was good enough.
Points to note:
1. They never asked about the caravan or its condition.
2. They wanted to come see it ‘tomorrow’
3. They wanted to see the motorfacts check first.
4. The motorfacts website only accepts PayPal payments.
5. They say that it is only available for sellers, not buyers.
6. When I suggested it may be a scam they just disappeared.
Pretty sure this is some kind of scam
Pretty sure this is some kind of scam. Someone contacted me on autotrader wanting to buy my caravan. Telling me they would only buy it with a review from this site I have never heard from before. When I asked if it was a scam they very quickly stopped responding
